Sir Henry Pellatt, ein reicher exzentrischer Industrieller und Finanzier, baute das Schloss von 1911 bis 1914. Es verfügt über fast 100 Räume, wovon die Eingangshalle, der Ballsaal und der Wintergarten zu den Beeindruckendsten zählen. Die Innenausstattung ist aus den edelsten und teuersten seinerzeit verfügbaren Materialien. Das Schloss ist mittels eines 244 m langen unterirdischen Gang mit den Stallungen verbunden. Die Türme gewähren einen prächtigen Rundblick über die Stadt. Ein Schloss nach dem Geschmack von König Ludwig II von Bayern.
Lady Mary Pellatt gründete die erste Pfadfindergruppe für Mädchen in Kanada. Als erste Vorsitzende lud sie Gruppen mit bis zu 250 Mädchen regelmäßig in ihr Haus ein.

Casa Loma, the Hill House, is the quaintest building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Sir Henry Pellatt, a rich eccentric industrialist and financier, built the palace built from 1911 to 1914. It has nearly 100 rooms, of which the entrance hall, the ballroom and the conservatory are the most impressive. The interior decor is made of the finest and most expensive materials available at that time. The house is connected with the stables by a 244 m long underground passage. The towers provide a magnificent view over the city. A castle after the taste of king Ludwig II of Bavaria.
Lady Mary Pellatt founded the first Girl Guides in Canada. As the Chief Commissioner of the Dominion of Canada Girl Guides, she invited regularly groups with up to 250 girls into her home.
Due to financial difficulties, Sir Henry Pellatt sold Casa Loma in 1923. In 1933 it fell to the town and was turned to a museum.
Among others, Casa Loma was location for movies like The Pacifier, X Men, Chicago or The Tuxedo.
Casa Loma is the second most popular tourist destination in Toronto, Ontario. The estate took three years to complete, and is well-known for its impressive architecture. Originally owned by Sir Henry Pallet, this 'castle in the sky' is over 170,000 square feet, and boasts 98 rooms.

Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra, recorded in Hollywood on July 23, 1937. This tune, the radio theme song for the Casa Loma Orchestra, is one of the smoothest and most beautiful ballads recorded during the Big Band era. With this arrangement, which juxtaposes Billy Rauch's upper register trombone over a full clarinet section playing in the lower register, the Casa Loma Orchestra approaches the sublety of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Clarinet solo is by Clarence Hutchenrider. It is said that Billy Rauch practiced his trombone solo for half an hour before each broadcast, so he would continue to play it perfectly. Many other bands "covered" this tune, but none featured a copy of Rauch's solo. From the original 78 rpm record. Accompanied by a slideshow featuring images from the days when Hollywood considered cigarettes to be an essential glamour accessory. Enjoy!

Casa Loma (Spanish for Hill House) is a Gothic Revival style house and gardens in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a museum and landmark. It was originally a residence for financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. Casa Loma was constructed over a three-year period from 1911–1914. The architect of the mansion was E. J. Lennox, who was responsible for the designs of several other city landmarks.
In 1903 Sir Henry Pellatt purchased 25 lots from developers Kertland and Rolf. Sir Henry commissioned Canadian architect E.J. Lennox to design Casa Loma with construction beginning in 1911, starting with the massive stables, potting shed and Hunting Lodge (a.k.a. coach-house) a few hundred feet north of the main building. The Hunting Lodge is a two storey 4,380-square-foot (407 m2) house with servant's quarters. As soon as the stable complex was completed, Sir Henry sold his summer house in Scarborough to his son and moved to the Hunting Lodge. The stables were used as a construction site for the castle (also served as the quarters for the men servants), with some of the machinery still remaining in the rooms under the stables. The house cost approximately $3.5 million and took a team of 300 workers three years to build from start to finish. Unfortunately, due to the start of World War I, construction on the house was halted. At 98 rooms, it was the largest private residence in Canada. Notable amenities included an elevator, an oven large enough to cook an ox, two vertical passages for pipe organs, central vacuum, two secret passages in Sir Henry's ground-floor office and three bowling alleys (never completed).

Welcome to the scenic community of Casa Loma home to Toronto's very own castle. The borders of this community are Bathurst Street to the west, St. Clair Avenue West, Spadina Road and Lonsdale Road to the north, Avenue Road to the east and Dupont Street to the south. There are also a number of high-rise residential complexes offering lofts and large condominium accommodations. Spadina Road runs north-south through the neighbourhood, at the northern border of the neighbourhood is the St. Clair Reservoir, Sir Winston Churchill Park and Roycroft Park. The residential properties along Spadina and in this affluent community have large landscaped lots and multi-storey homes often hidden from the street. Located off Spadina in approximately the middle of this community is Spadina Museum and Casa Loma. The castle is surrounded on all sides by residential properties, meaning residents can enjoy the Gothic revival style castle and grounds from their backyards. Now a popular tourist location, Casa Loma was built by architect E. J. Lennox in 1911 for resident Sir Henry Pellatt, at 98 rooms it was the largest residence in Canada. It did not become a museum until 1937. Across Davenport Road from the Casa Loma grounds is the George Brown Casa Loma Campus. The castle can be accessed from the main entrance but also by a staircase on Davenport Road. The Toronto Archives are located on Spadina south of Casa Loma and just north of a commercial railway tracks. At the south border of the community is Dupont subway station. Along Avenue Road are a number of high-rise residential properties and two parkettes between St.Clair and Lonsdale. -

Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra, recorded in Hollywood on July 23, 1937. This tune, the radio theme song for the Casa Loma Orchestra, is one of the smoothest and most beautiful ballads recorded during the Big Band era. With this arrangement, which juxtaposes Billy Rauch's upper register trombone over a full clarinet section playing in the lower register, the Casa Loma Orchestra approaches the sublety of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Clarinet solo is by Clarence Hutchenrider. It is said that Billy Rauch practiced his trombone solo for half an hour before each broadcast, so he would continue to play it perfectly. Across Davenport Road from the Casa Loma grounds is the George Brown Casa Loma Campus.
The castle can be accessed from the main entrance but also by a staircase on Davenport Road.
The Toronto Archives are located on Spadina south of Casa Loma and just north of a commercial railway tracks.
At the south border of the community is Dupont subway station.
Along Avenue Road are a number of high-rise residential properties and two parkettes between St.Clair and Lonsdale.

Get know to Michelangelo up close and personal through his exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario titled ‘Quest for Genius: Michelangelo’ which runs until January 2015. This exhibit showcases the trials and frustrations of Michelangelo which ultimately led to genius.
There are definitely lots of things to do and see on your next visit to Toronto! If you're in town this month of December catch:
• Toronto Christmas Market — Nov 28 — December 21
• Quest for Genius: Michelangelo —18 October - 11 January
• New Years Eve Celebrations at Nathan Phillip Square — Midnight New Years Eve

For example, it has served as a location for movies such as X-Men, Strange Brew, Chicago, The Tuxedo, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Warehouse 13, and The Pacifier. Comic books and children's novels that have used it include the Scott Pilgrim series and Eric Wilson's murder mystery, The Lost Treasure of Casa Loma. It was also temporarily transformed into Hogwarts for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In the CBC Television show Being Erica, the episode "Mi Casa, Su Casa Loma" features Casa Loma prominently as the place where main character Erica Strange works.[3] Casa Loma is also mentioned in Canadian poet Dennis Lee's 1970 children's poem "Wiggle to the Laundromat", in the collection Alligator Pie: "Wiggle to the laundromat,/Waggle to the sea;/ Skip to Casa Loma/ And you can't catch me!". It also served in the movie adaption of R.L. Stine's novel A Night In Terror Tower.
