Happy Autumn! Here's an updated flamethrower build. Decided to mix current meta scrapper with my build posted last year. http://tinyurl.com/ScrapperFlamethrower2015 - Old Scrapper build. Terrifying damage, water fields, fury. Honestly haven't tried it since last year. http://tinyurl.com/ScrapperFlamethrower2016 - New Flamethrower build. Way more vitality, crit chance, and boon duration. I really miss healing turret for the blasts/leaps but the boons are a nice substitute. Elixir gun has 3 Elixir skills all affected by elixir traits. So this build actually has more elixir skills despite having no solely elixir utilities. Generally just avoid retal when using flamethrower auto attack and make sure to use flamethrower a lot. Napalm ball ftw. Pros: - Good all around stats plus might stacks can reach 25 but more likely to be around 20, 10+ crit chance against bleeding foes, and protection + mussels gnashblade makes for good damage reduction - Good amount of condi clears - High AoE damage and damage in general - Boons! So many boons. - Safe stomps - In fight perma swiftness - Reflects Cons: - Slow as hell when not in combat, need to blast fields/consume elixirs for swiftness. - Very reliant on flamethrower for might & stability - No water fields to utilise despite all them blasts/leaps - Not great for group fights - Vulnerable to boon rip Top Tips: - Napalm ball can hit twice; once when it passes through an opponent and again when it explodes, time it well and you'll get both. If they crit and it procs air sigil, that is some nasty damage. - Incendiary ammo is great, if all 3 hits land that is around 3.6k damage. - Acid bomb does not cleanse condi! Fight timestamps! Outnumbered: 0:00 - Reaper would be the sensible target in this situation, given the AoE damage this build pumps out, the berserker simply gets caught in it at which point you can switch targets. Starting on a berserker in this situation would allow the reaper to range damage me while the berserker kites/blocks/endure pains. Granted this berserker is one of the very few who uses a longbow so no blocks. 1:16 - Against high range damage, it's a good idea to Electro Whirl first and then Defence Field as by the time DF is over, whirl should be back up. Didn't do that very well here, but just bare that in mind. Once one player is down, keep an eye on the others for any potential burst or what have you, like the second mesmer trying for the mirror blade. Probably should of finished the first mesmer with an Elixir gun auto attack to avoid the illusionary berserker but eh. 2:48 - THAT AOE DAMAGE! As ever, acid bomb/aoe on those downed bodies. 3:57 - Mmmmm more damage. Kind of like an unstoppable force hitting an immovable object though on that second guard. So tanky. 5:07 - Condis are scary, so focusing the condi player isn't a bad idea. I think this clip shows just how important camping Flamethrower for stability is though, if my Thunderclap didn't get interrupted that fight would have went much differently. Then my heal getting interrupted. I guess when a thief comes running at you you should dodge when they get within steal range of 1200, just didn't cross my mind at the time. 6:38 - Most definitely the wrong target to start with. Being DH you'd assume they'd be somewhat squish but honestly, it's hard to choose precisely the right target before a fight starts, you can only get a feel for the right/wrong targets once a fight has begun. Also just because you've put a lot of effort into downing one target doesn't mean you shouldn't switch if things aren't going your way. It's never too late to switch targets! Nor is it unwise to do so! Condi mesmer 1v1s & General description: Don't hit their #2 scepter block & if you do, you can still dodge it immediatly after, or at least you used to be able to. Dodge/block shatters, Healing Mist toolbelt skill is an instant clear, Super elixir cures 2, and acid bomb cures ZERO as it's currently bugged; I learned the hard way. 9:23 11:37 13:24 14:39 Group fights/general description: Not bad for group fights but not something I'd normally use; I prefer more freedom of skills/blocks/invulns. 16:05 19:02 21:54 A BIG thank you to iP's Tinni for the roaming fun as well as Teneb, Twan, Unleash, and Crab for the hills fight.
