Inga Tidblad
Inga Sofia Tidblad (29 May 1901 – 12 September 1975) was a Swedish actress. She was one of the most praised actresses in Swedish theatre during her lifetime.
Biography
Tidblad grew up in Stockholm as daughter to engineer Otto Tidblad and the formerly Helga Krumlinde. She was a student at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's famous acting school, Dramatens elevskola 1919–22, where she during her student years already was recognized as a rising star by audience and critics for her debut performance of Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest, where director Olof Molander had hand-picked her for the part, early recognizing her talent. After her graduation from drama school she worked at the Swedish Theatre, where she had her big star breakthrough in Sweden as Ophelia in Hamlet, opposite Schanke in the title role, in 1924. She remained in the theatre's ensemble until its tragic burn-down in 1925.
Most notable for her many female leads in Shakespeare and Strindberg plays, star performances by Tidblad on stage include her Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet, Billie Moore in Broadway, the Angel in Cenodoxus, Aude in Graven under triumfbågen, Anna Boleyn in Henry VIII, Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Ellen in Älskling jag ger mig, Rosalind in Shakespeare's As You Like It, Lotta Enterfelt in Svenska sprätthöken, Alegre in Maxwell Anderson's play Key Largo 1940, Sonja in Crime and Punishment, Blanche in Folkungasagan, Portia in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Mary Vetsera in Mayerlingdramat, Cecilia in Rovdjuret, The Daughter in Strindberg's The Ghost Sonata, Mrs. Kenyon in Samson Raphaelson's play Skylark 1943, Beréngère in Robert Boissy's Jupiter 1943, Marguerite Gautier in Alexandre Dumas' The Lady of the Camellias 1954, Mary Tyrone in the world premiere of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night 1956, in Terence Rattigan's Separate Tables at Vasateatern 1958-59 and as Queen Christina in August Strindberg's play Kristina in 1961.

Thommy Berggren
Thommy Berggren (born 12 August 1937) is a Swedish actor. He is known for having starred in several films directed by Bo Widerberg, and was often considered as one of the foremost Swedish film and theatre actors from the early 1960s to the mid-2000s when he retired.
He starred in the Oscar nominated Raven's End (1963), directed by Widerberg. He also starred in the 1992 Sunday's Children, which was directed by Daniel Bergman and written by Ingmar Bergman.
Berggren faced a number of difficulties in his early life, but he was able to use them as inspiration, and they would eventually prove to be influential in his future career. Apart from being considered one of Sweden's finest actors, he wa also a devoted father of three children.
Early life
Berggren was born on 12 August 1937, in Mölndal, Sweden, an impoverished working class district. His father, a sailor by trade and a socialist, was supportive of and heavily involved with the worker's rights movement in Sweden. His mother was employed at the local factory and was similarly politically inclined. When he was born, he suffered with a disease of the lungs, which caused him to have to stay in a hospital facility for one year. As if poverty were not difficult enough, the young Thommy also had to deal with the fact that his father suffered from a severe addiction to alcohol. In Stefan Jarl's 2002 film The Bricklayer, a documentary about Thommy's life and career, he recounted an incident in which he had walked a great distance to meet his father at a train station, only to discover that he would not keep the promised appointment with his son. Instead, he had remained in town, drinking.

Bibi Andersson
Bibi Andersson (Swedish: [ˈbɪ.ˈbɪ ˈandɛˈʂɔn]; born 11 November 1935) is a Swedish actress.
Youth
Bibi Andersson was born as Berit Elisabeth Andersson in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, the daughter of Karin (née Mansion), a social worker, and Josef Andersson, a businessman. She studied acting at the Terserus Drama School and at the legendary Royal Dramatic Theatre School in Stockholm.
After completing school, she agreed to join the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, which she was associated with for 30 years. Her first collaboration with Ingmar Bergman was in 1951, when she participated in his production of an advertisement for the detergent "Bris". In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, she starred in more than ten Bergman-directed pictures, including The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, Brink of Life, The Magician, The Passion of Anna, The Touch and Persona.
Later career
In 1963 at the 13th Berlin International Film Festival, Andersson won the Silver Bear for Best Actress award for her role in Vilgot Sjöman's film The Mistress.

Inga
Inga (common name shimbillo) is a genus of small tropical, tough-leaved, nitrogen-fixing trees and shrubs, subfamily Mimosoideae. Inga's leaves are pinnate, and flowers are generally white. Many of the hundreds of species are used ornamentally.
Several related plants have been placed into this genus at one time, for example Yopo (Cohoba, Mopo, Nopo or Parica – Anadenanthera peregrina – as Inga niopo).
The seeds are covered with sweet white powder. The pulp covering the seeds is lightly fibrous and sweet, and rich in minerals; it is edible in the raw state. The tree's name originates from the Tupi word in-gá meaning "soaked", due to the fruit powder consistency. The tree usually blossoms twice a year.
Within the Inga genus there are around 300 species, most of them native and growing in the Amazon forest region although some species are also found in Mexico, Greater and Lesser Antilles and other countries in South America, being an exclusively neotropical genus. The trees are usually found by river and lake edges because their seeds are carried there by floods.

The Unicorn
The Unicorn is the debut studio album of the Canadian Irish folk music group The Irish Rovers, released in 1967 and topped the charts in 1968.
The title track "The Unicorn", a recording of Shel Silverstein's poem, featured Glen Campbell on lead guitar, and reached #2 in the US Adult Contemporary Charts, #7 in the U.S. Hot 100, and #5 in Ireland. Despite having virtually nothing to do with Ireland or Irish culture, the song remains popular in Irish pubs to this day.
"The Unicorn" song is also included on The Irish Rovers Gems double disk (1996), their 40th Anniversary CD, "40 Years A-Rovin'" (Rover Records, 2005), and their "Home In Ireland" CD and DVD. In 1968 the song was covered by Irish trio The Bachelors.

“Enhörningen” AKA “The Unicorn”” (1955) Eng Hard Sub Dir: Gustaf Molander Cast: Tidblad, Adolphson, Malmsten, Lagerwall This Swedish film was directed by Molander towards the end of a career which had started in 1910 as a script writer for films by the famous directors of the silent era Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller. He eventually began directing himself and had a career that spanned almost five decades. Internationally, he is most famous for “Intermezzo” (1936) and as the director who discovered Ingrid Bergman. This film “Enhörningen” (“The Unicorn”) has been forgotten, for which there is an easy explanation, namely Ingmar Bergman. During the 1950s Bergman’s films began to conquer the world and naturally crowded out other films, especially those by older directors such as Molander. Retrospectively, Bergman’s best films were done in the 1950s and this film was supposed to be dated by comparison. However, Ingmar Bergman cooperated with Molander, and had a very high opinion of his filmmaking and great respect for him. In fact, there is a strong influence of Molander in the earlier Bergman films and anybody seeing this film would certainly agree. Molander was considered an accomplished craftsman with an excellent film technique. This is evident in the beautiful black and white photography in this film. The oppressive feeling in the hospital scenes and, in particular, the interesting mass bird scene outside the hospital are a bit reminiscent of Hitchcock. There are always interesting camera views, beautiful use of shadows and striking deployment of a moving camera, e.g. in the very odd short nightclub scene in Paris. So why has this film been forgotten? Apart from competing with superior films from Bergman’s best period from the 1950s, perhaps this high-strung melodrama and the very theatrical acting would put some people off. One might complain that the ages of the actors are not appropriate for their roles. Inga Tidblad (aged 55 at the time) plays the main character, including her younger self when recalling the main events of her life, and so we see her in the role of a 20 year-old woman alongside a younger actress (Isa Quensel) playing her mother. Nevertheless, this film features some of Sweden’s most famous stage actors. Inga Tidblad was a contemporary of Greta Garbo at theatre school but, unlike her, chose to stay in Sweden and had a distinguished and long career, mainly in the theatre. She was acclaimed in plays by Shakespeare and Strindberg, and was also the first Mrs Tyrone in the world premiere of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey into Night”, which took place in Stockholm. Another doyen of Swedish theatre, Edwin Adolphson, plays the lady-killer in “The Unicorn”. His position in Swedish theatre and film was not unlike that of Laurence Olivier in Britain, and I would say that there is also some physical resemblance. As an interesting casting decision, which rarely occurs in films, he appears alongside his own daughter, Kristina Adolphson (aged 18), who plays the daughter of the lady-killer. Edvin Adolphson had a 60-year career and, as a curiosity, one of his earlier wives was Harriet Bosse, the veteran actress once married to the playwright August Strindberg. It is rather astonishing that the music composed for the film by the renowned composer Lars Erik Larsson is not mentioned in the credits. The music is very suggestive but used carefully and sparsely throughout the film, indeed only in the most dramatic moments. The whole production is well crafted. I hope this old-fashioned black and white melodrama could be of interest for a selected audience. This film has been available on YouTube for some time without any subtitles. I hope that these English subtitles could give it a bigger international audience, especially among those interested in Ingmar Bergman’s earlier films. The author of the script was Sigfrid Siwertz, and another film based upon a script of his can also be found on this channel: “Ett Brott” (1940), a crime drama. -

This Swedish film was directed by Molander towards the end of a career which had started in 1910 as a script writer for films by the famous directors of the silent era Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller. He eventually began directing himself and had a career that spanned almost five decades. Internationally, he is most famous for “Intermezzo” (1936) and as the director who discovered Ingrid Bergman.
This film “Enhörningen” (“The Unicorn”) has been forgotten, for which there is an easy explanation, namely Ingmar Bergman. During the 1950s Bergman’s films began to conquer the world and naturally crowded out other films, especially those by older directors such as Molander. Retrospectively, Bergman’s best films were done in the 1950s and this film was supposed to be dated by comparison. However, Ingmar Bergman cooperated with Molander, and had a very high opinion of his filmmaking and great respect for him. In fact, there is a strong influence of Molander in the earlier Bergman films and anybody seeing this film would certainly agree. Molander was considered an accomplished craftsman with an excellent film technique. This is evident in the beautiful black and white photography in this film. The oppressive feeling in the hospital scenes and, in particular, the interesting mass bird scene outside the hospital are a bit reminiscent of Hitchcock. There are always interesting camera views, beautiful use of shadows and striking deployment of a moving camera, e.g. in the very odd short nightclub scene in Paris.
So why has this film been forgotten? Apart from competing with superior films from Bergman’s best period from the 1950s, perhaps this high-strung melodrama and the very theatrical acting would put some people off. One might complain that the ages of the actors are not appropriate for their roles. Inga Tidblad (aged 55 at the time) plays the main character, including her younger self when recalling the main events of her life, and so we see her in the role of a 20 year-old woman alongside a younger actress (Isa Quensel) playing her mother. Nevertheless, this film features some of Sweden’s most famous stage actors.
Inga Tidblad was a contemporary of Greta Garbo at theatre school but, unlike her, chose to stay in Sweden and had a distinguished and long career, mainly in the theatre. She was acclaimed in plays by Shakespeare and Strindberg, and was also the first Mrs Tyrone in the world premiere of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey into Night”, which took place in Stockholm. Another doyen of Swedish theatre, Edwin Adolphson, plays the lady-killer in “The Unicorn”. His position in Swedish theatre and film was not unlike that of Laurence Olivier in Britain, and I would say that there is also some physical resemblance. As an interesting casting decision, which rarely occurs in films, he appears alongside his own daughter, Kristina Adolphson (aged 18), who plays the daughter of the lady-killer. Edvin Adolphson had a 60-year career and, as a curiosity, one of his earlier wives was Harriet Bosse, the veteran actress once married to the playwright August Strindberg.
It is rather astonishing that the music composed for the film by the renowned composer Lars Erik Larsson is not mentioned in the credits. The music is very suggestive but used carefully and sparsely throughout the film, indeed only in the most dramatic moments. The whole production is well crafted. I hope this old-fashioned black and white melodrama could be of interest for a selected audience.
This film has been available on YouTube for some time without any subtitles. I hope that these English subtitles could give it a bigger international audience, especially among those interested in Ingmar Bergman’s earlier films. The author of the script was Sigfrid Siwertz, and another film based upon a script of his can also be found on this channel: “Ett Brott” (1940), a crime drama.

För många år sedan hade Harriet en kort affär med en kollega till Frank, Claes von Klitzow, som gjorde henne med barn, sonen Christer. Ingen vet något och Harriet tror att allt ligger bakom henne. MÖRDARENS ERKÄNNANDE
Agid Atroshi född 1956 bekänner att han sköt sin egen 20-åriga dotter Pela Atroshi den 24 juni 1999 på övervåningen i hans hus i Dohouk, Irakiska Kurdistan inför kameran när han intervjuades av Peter Johanson i augusti 2003. Dådet var ej planerat och hans bröder som var på fel plats vid fel tillfälle fick betala priset i Sverige i form av livstids fängelse när de mötte mediadomstolen när de kom hem. Agid lämnades inte ut utan bor kvar i Dohouk. Brodern Dakaz Atroshi född 1951 är friad i två instanser i Kurdistan och blir en fri man i januari 2016 efter 16 år i svenskt fängelse. Åklagare, Polischef och Agids advokat har rentvått Dakaz Atroshi från all inblandning i mordet.

This Swedish film was directed by Molander towards the end of a career which had started in 1910 as a script writer for films by the famous directors of the silent era Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller. He eventually began directing himself and had a career that spanned almost five decades. Internationally, he is most famous for “Intermezzo” (1936) and as the director who discovered Ingrid Bergman.
This film “Enhörningen” (“The Unicorn”) has been forgotten, for which there is an easy explanation, namely Ingmar Bergman. During the 1950s Bergman’s films began to conquer the world and naturally crowded out other films, especially those by older directors such as Molander. Retrospectively, Bergman’s best films were done in the 1950s and this film was supposed to be dated by comparison. However, Ingmar Bergman cooperated with Molander, and had a very high opinion of his filmmaking and great respect for him. In fact, there is a strong influence of Molander in the earlier Bergman films and anybody seeing this film would certainly agree. Molander was considered an accomplished craftsman with an excellent film technique. This is evident in the beautiful black and white photography in this film. The oppressive feeling in the hospital scenes and, in particular, the interesting mass bird scene outside the hospital are a bit reminiscent of Hitchcock. There are always interesting camera views, beautiful use of shadows and striking deployment of a moving camera, e.g. in the very odd short nightclub scene in Paris.
So why has this film been forgotten? Apart from competing with superior films from Bergman’s best period from the 1950s, perhaps this high-strung melodrama and the very theatrical acting would put some people off. One might complain that the ages of the actors are not appropriate for their roles. Inga Tidblad (aged 55 at the time) plays the main character, including her younger self when recalling the main events of her life, and so we see her in the role of a 20 year-old woman alongside a younger actress (Isa Quensel) playing her mother. Nevertheless, this film features some of Sweden’s most famous stage actors.
Inga Tidblad was a contemporary of Greta Garbo at theatre school but, unlike her, chose to stay in Sweden and had a distinguished and long career, mainly in the theatre. She was acclaimed in plays by Shakespeare and Strindberg, and was also the first Mrs Tyrone in the world premiere of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey into Night”, which took place in Stockholm. Another doyen of Swedish theatre, Edwin Adolphson, plays the lady-killer in “The Unicorn”. His position in Swedish theatre and film was not unlike that of Laurence Olivier in Britain, and I would say that there is also some physical resemblance. As an interesting casting decision, which rarely occurs in films, he appears alongside his own daughter, Kristina Adolphson (aged 18), who plays the daughter of the lady-killer. Edvin Adolphson had a 60-year career and, as a curiosity, one of his earlier wives was Harriet Bosse, the veteran actress once married to the playwright August Strindberg.
It is rather astonishing that the music composed for the film by the renowned composer Lars Erik Larsson is not mentioned in the credits. The music is very suggestive but used carefully and sparsely throughout the film, indeed only in the most dramatic moments. The whole production is well crafted. I hope this old-fashioned black and white melodrama could be of interest for a selected audience.
This film has been available on YouTube for some time without any subtitles. I hope that these English subtitles could give it a bigger international audience, especially among those interested in Ingmar Bergman’s earlier films. The author of the script was Sigfrid Siwertz, and another film based upon a script of his can also be found on this channel: “Ett Brott” (1940), a crime drama.
