State parks or provincial parks are parks or other protected areas managed at the sub-national level within those nations which use "state" or "province" as a political subdivision. State parks are typically established by a state to preserve a location on account of its natural beauty, historic interest, or recreational potential. There are state parks under the administration of the government of each U.S. state, and of some states of Mexico. The term is also used in Australia, though the distinction between state and national parks there is different. The Canadian equivalent term is provincial park. Similar systems of local government maintained parks exist in other countries, but the terminology varies.
State parks are thus similar to national parks, but under state rather than federal administration. Similarly, local government entities below state level may maintain parks, e.g., regional parks or county parks. In general, state parks are smaller than national parks, with a few exceptions such as the Adirondack Park in New York and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California.
Island Beach State Park is a New Jersey state park located just south of Seaside Park on the Barnegat Peninsula in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The park is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. Most of the park encompasses the former borough of Island Beach.
The park is the largest reserve of undeveloped barrier island in New Jersey and one of the largest in the United States. The park is divided into two areas. The Island Beach Northern Natural Area covers 659 acres (2.7 km2), some of which is restricted to the public. The Southern Natural Area is much larger at 1,237 acres (5 km2). The park includes the Sedge Island Marine Conservation Zone, which includes about 1,600 acres (6 km2) of tidal marshes, creeks, ponds, and open water.
Coming in from the sea-front, a visitor ascends over a large primary dune covered in tall grasses and down into a narrow maritime forest, consisting of many tall bushes and short trees including holly, goldenrod and black cherry. Approaching the bay side, one finds reeds and a muddy estuary that is home to blue crabs and herons and other marine birds. The park is an excellent site for bird watching with osprey nests and bird blinds set up. The Barnegat Inlet is located at the southern tip of the park, separating the Barnegat Peninsula from Long Beach Island.

This is a short movie about our favorite destination at New Jersey Shore -- Island Beach State Park. This summer I recorded few video clips to memorize beauty of white sand, clean water, dense maritime forests, rolling sand dunes, and tidal marshes. Island Beach State Park is located at the southern terminus of Route 35 and is just a short drive from the boardwalks and beaches of Seaside Heights. Despite being located a relatively short drive from some of the the most densely populated areas in the United States, Island Beach State Park is shaped more by natural forces than by the hand of man. It provides a rare glimpse of the beach habitats that Native Americans and early European explorers found along the New Jersey coast many hundreds of years ago. I hope you will like it!
Goal: Fly over 10 miles on one battery. Result: FAIL Here is the route we took. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/39.7850767,-74.0949189/39.8219899,-74.0919155/39.8620103,-74.0868445/@39.8266019,-74.1137569,13.26z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0 The mid-point is where I landed and changed battery. First leg was 2.5 miles and second leg was 2.8 miles for a total of 5.3 miles. I will follow this video with a commentary video explaining what went wrong. The drone was doing about 43 mph with a slight tail wind. I tried to go full speed the whole time. I discovered that it slowly loses altitude at full speed even when given full throttle. I misinterpreted this as auto-land mode so I landed even though battery voltage was still over 11 and my tests showed that auto-land happens when it reaches 10.4. ...

This is a collection of videos by Bob Popovics of Popfleyes LLC. productions. Bob was a pioneer in the capturing of "MUST SEE" events that occurred in Island Beach State Park and the surrounding areas on the surf and in the bays in Ocean County. Before there were cell phone cams, and mini cams for that matter, Bob was taking vids on super 8 and VHS. This collection includes some awesome blitz action and the famous "Whale" video feeding just yards from the beach.

View from the Dunes at Island Beach State Park, NJ. A quick panning timelapse (4K quality) with some decent cloud action. No audio has been included because my good friend Don DePaola ( https://www.facebook.com/Don-DePaola-The-Music-Rift-160545583968107/ ) will be be providing the score for my short artistic video documentary, "New Jersey Nature". Initial screenings will take place at local environmental centers and galleries throughout the state upon completion later in 2016. No dunes were harmed in the making of this time-lapse, my tripod is situated on the walking trail to the ocean.
