The 1996 NBA draft was the 50th draft in the National Basketball Association (NBA). It was held on June 26, 1996 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The draft was broadcast in the United States on the Turner Network Television. In this draft, NBA teams took turns selecting college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from high schools and non-North American leagues. The Vancouver Grizzlies had the highest probability to win the NBA draft lottery, but since they were an expansion team along with the Toronto Raptors, they were not allowed to select first in this draft. The team with the second highest probability, the Philadelphia 76ers won the lottery and obtained the first selection. The Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies were second and third respectively.
Allen Iverson, a sophomore from Georgetown, was selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers.
It is widely considered to be one of the deepest and most talented NBA drafts in history, with over one-third of the first round picks later becoming NBA All-Stars. The draft class produced three players who won NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash), seven other drafted players who became All-Stars (Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, Stephon Marbury, Jermaine O'Neal, Peja Stojaković, Antoine Walker), and one undrafted All-Star (Ben Wallace), for a grand total of 11 All-Stars. Moreover, eight players from this draft class have been named to at least one All-NBA Team, the most among any draft. The Utah Jazz drafted Malone in 1985 with the 13th overall pick in the first round. Malone appeared in the playoffs every season in his career, including the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998 with the Jazz. He played his final season with the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he played his third Finals in 2004. Internationally, Malone competed with the United States national team in the Summer Olympic games of 1992 and 1996; in both years he won gold medals. After retiring from the NBA, Malone joined the staff of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs basketball team in 2007 and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.

The NBA Draft is an annual event in which the thirty teams from the National Basketball Association (NBA) can draft players who are eligible and wish to join the league. These players are usually amateur U.S. college basketball players, but international players are also eligible to be drafted. College players who have finished their four-year college eligibility are automatically eligible for selection, while the underclassmen have to declare their eligibility and give up their remaining college eligibility. International players who are at least 22 years old are automatically eligible for selection, while the players younger than 22 have to declare their eligibility. Players who are not automatically eligible but have declared their eligibility are often called "early-entrants" or "early-entry candidates". The Draft usually takes place at the end of June, during the NBA off-season. The Draft consists of two rounds with a total of sixty players to be selected.
In the past, high school players were also eligible to be selected. However, starting in the 2006 Draft, high school players were not eligible to enter the draft directly after graduating high school. The rules now state that high school players will gain eligibility for draft selection one year after their high school graduation and they must also be at least 19 years old as of the end of the calendar year of the draft. Contrary to popular belief, they do not necessarily have to have at least one year of college basketball (as some players have chosen to use that year to play professionally in Europe for example).

MVP AI abused the older Jason Williams while Young Dirk and Prime Pierce kept the '98 class earlier in the game. Halfway through the game, The Truth made a slick spin move freezing Kobe to the bucket. Kobe answered with an alley-oop jam from Iverson. We also got a mini MVP Nash vs White Chocolate battle. Jwill tied the game at 13-13 with a 2 but MVP Nash quickly answered with his own 2 from the corner. Williams then answered back with another 2 to tie the game again but Nash made a layup through traffic to keep his team in the lead. With his superstar teammates struggling to get around a great '96 defense, Williams took advantage of Nash's weak D to get his team within striking distance. Leading 19-17, DPOY Big Ben scored after Kobe missed a corner jumper making it 20-17. Needing at least a 2 to give his team a chance to win, Finals MVP Pierce drains one from the wing to get his team within 1. Nash then missed the potential game winner. Recognizing a mismatch with Nash, Dunk Champ Carter got past him for a big throwdown to tie the game. After a Big Ben screen, Nash got himself an easy layup to make it 21-20. Williams answered back with a 2 for the '98 class' first lead in the game at 22-21. Iverson then got past Williams on the other end to tie it 22-22. The '96 class defense tightened making it hard for the '98 class to get a clean shot. With 10 seconds remaining on the shot clock, Carter got a wide open look and drained a 2 for the win. Notes: The '98 Class finished the game on a 7-2 run. The lowest rated Jason Williams led all scorers with 9 points on 6-8 shooting and 3-5 from deep. After going 4-4, Kobe missed all but one of is last 9 shots to finish the game 5-13. The draft class produced three players who won NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash), seven other drafted players who became All-Stars (Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, Stephon Marbury, Jermaine O'Neal, Peja Stojaković, Antoine Walker), and one undrafted All-Star (Ben Wallace), for a grand total of 11 All-Stars. Moreover, eight players from this draft class have been named to at least one All-NBA Team, the most among any draft. The draft class also produced 3 players who have been named to the NBA's all-defensive first team: Bryant, Marcus Camby, and Wallace. Camby won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007, while Wallace earned the same award in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006.
Most experts rate it along with the 1984 NBA draft and 2003 NBA draft as one of the best drafts in history. Sports Illustrated named it the second-best, behind the 1984 draft, whose highlights included Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton.

Would have preferred to have Sacramento Mike Bibby (or even a prime Jason Wililams) here but the game does not include the historic Kings teams. I think I got the best lineup I could pick from what's available in the game. I'm currently listing other draft classes that have enough good players to make a team for more of these videos.

The '96 class raced to an early 4 point lead with Young Kobe hitting his first 4 shots.
MVP AI abused the older Jason Williams while Young Dirk and Prime Pierce kept the '98 class earlier in the game.
Halfway through the game, The Truth made a slick spin move freezing Kobe to the bucket. Kobe answered with an alley-oop jam from Iverson.
We also got a mini MVP Nash vs White Chocolate battle. Jwill tied the game at 13-13 with a 2 but MVP Nash quickly answered with his own 2 from the corner. Williams then answered back with another 2 to tie the game again but Nash made a layup through traffic to keep his team in the lead.
With his superstar teammates struggling to get around a great '96 defense, Williams took advantage of Nash's weak D to get his team within striking distance.
Leading 19-17, DPOY Big Ben scored after Kobe missed a corner jumper making it 20-17.
Needing at least a 2 to give his team a chance to win, Finals MVP Pierce drains one from the wing to get his team within 1. Nash then missed the potential game winner. Recognizing a mismatch with Nash, Dunk Champ Carter got past him for a big throwdown to tie the game.
After a Big Ben screen, Nash got himself an easy layup to make it 21-20. Williams answered back with a 2 for the '98 class' first lead in the game at 22-21. Iverson then got past Williams on the other end to tie it 22-22.
The '96 class defense tightened making it hard for the '98 class to get a clean shot. With 10 seconds remaining on the shot clock, Carter got a wide open look and drained a 2 for the win.
Notes:
The '98 Class finished the game on a 7-2 run.
The lowest rated Jason Williams led all scorers with 9 points on 6-8 shooting and 3-5 from deep.
After going 4-4, Kobe missed all but one of is last 9 shots to finish the game 5-13.
The '98 Class scored half of their total points from long range.

Adonal Foyle was selected in the first round (8th pick overall) of the 1997 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. He is the Warriors' all-time leading shotblocker with 1,140 blocks. He is also the only player in Warriors history to have over 3,000 career rebounds and over 1,000 career blocked shots.
Adonal grew up in the tiny island of Canouan, where he was raised by his grandmother and pet donkey and relied on a kerosene lamp to light up his room while doing homework.
Although he has received a rare gift to live out his dream to become a professional basketball player, Adonal also knows that it's important to not forget where he came from and to give back to his community every which way he can.
During his 10 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Adonal committed himself to community serve throughout the Bay Area. He's received various awards during that time, including the 1998 May of San Francisco's Sports Hero Award, the 1997 Athlete with a Heart award, given by the American Heart Association, as well as several NBA Community Service Award.
In 2006, Adonal also started the Kerosene Lamp Foundation. KLF, a non-profit 501c3 organization, helps empower children of the Eastern Caribbean as well as the United States and give them the right tools to navigate life's challenges such as illiteracy, sexually transmitted diseases and economic hardship.
