Mud

Mud is a mixture of water and any combination of soil, silt, and clay, and usually forms after rainfall or near water sources. Ancient mud deposits harden over geological time to form sedimentary rock such as shale or mudstone (generally called lutites). When geological deposits of mud are formed in estuaries the resultant layers are termed bay muds.

Adhesive

In the construction industry, mud is a semi-fluid material that can be used to coat, seal, or adhere materials. Depending on the composition of the mud, it can be referred by many different names, including slurry, mortar, plaster, stucco, and concrete.

Material

Mud, cob, adobe, clay, and many other names are historically used synonymously to mean a mixture of subsoil and water possibly with the addition of stones, gravel, straw, lime, and/or bitumen. This material was used a variety of ways to build walls, roofs and floors.

Mudbrick

Mud can be made into mud bricks,also called adobe, by mixing mud with water, placing the mixture into moulds and then allowing it to dry in open air. Straw is sometimes used as a binder within the bricks, as it adds a support lattice. When the brick would otherwise break, the straw will redistribute the force throughout the brick, decreasing the chance of breakage. Such buildings must be protected from groundwater, usually by building upon a masonry, fired brick, rock or rubble foundation, and also from wind-driven rain in damp climates, usually by deep roof overhangs. In extremely dry climates a well drained flat roof may be protected with a well-prepared (puddled) and properly maintained dried mud coating, viable as the mud will expand when moistened and so become more water resistant. Adobe mudbricks were commonly used by the Pueblo Indians to build their homes and other necessary structures.

Mud (TV series)

Mud was a 1994 CBBC television show, starring Russell Brand, Brooke Kinsella, and Russell Tovey in their early appearances and a teddy bear called Steve.

Plot

A group of children from a London tower block who were sent on holiday to an outdoor activities centre called Felfront Heights, along with their social worker. The first series revolved around their adventures at the centre. In the second series, the children found that the centre had been closed down so the social worker took them to a local village. They became involved with a witch finder, who had spent hundreds of years tracking down a local witch (who turned out to be Mrs Dears, the old lady who ran the local shop). The children travelled into the past, thanks to a time-travelling ambulance, in order to prevent Mrs Dears becoming a witch in the first place. When they returned to the present, the children realised that they had inadvertently changed the course of time, and the present was significantly different from how they had left it—most shockingly, they realised they had stopped America from being discovered by Europeans, and consequently, they could not watch their favourite show, Baywatch.

Frasier (season 11)

The 11th and final season of the American sitcom television series Frasier originally aired from September 23, 2003 to May 13, 2004 on NBC.

On May 13, 2004 a special episode, "Analyzing the Laughter" (production code 263) was shown.

Reception

The season ranked 35th in the seasonal ratings and had an average viewership of 10.920 million viewers.

CSI: NY (season 4)

The fourth season of CSI: NY originally aired on CBS between September 2007 and May 2008. It consisted of 21 episodes, only 14 of which were completed before the Writers' Strike. Seven more episodes were made after the strike, and they began airing in April 2008. Its regular time slot continued on Wednesdays at 10pm/9c.

Monsters, Inc.

Monsters, Inc. is a 2001 American computer-animated buddies comedy film directed by Pete Docter, produced by Pixar, and released by Walt Disney Pictures. John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton both served as executive producers. The film was co-directed by Lee Unkrich and David Silverman and stars the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn and Jennifer Tilly.

The film centers on two monsters employed at the titular Monsters, Inc.: top scarer James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (John Goodman) and his one-eyed partner and best friend Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal). Monsters, Inc. employees generate their city's power by targeting and scaring children, but they are themselves afraid that the children may contaminate them; when one child enters Monstropolis, Mike and Sulley must return her.

Docter began developing the film in 1996 and wrote the story with Jill Culton, Jeff Pidgeon, and Ralph Eggleston. Fellow Pixar director Andrew Stanton wrote the screenplay with screenwriter Daniel Gerson. The characters went through many incarnations over the film's five-year production process. The technical team and animators found new ways to render fur and cloth realistically for the film. Randy Newman, who composed the music for Pixar's three prior films, returned to compose its fourth.
