Le Ranger Rover Sport est censé être une version plus sportive du Range Rover tout court. Un peu plus court, un peu plus bas et léger, il reprend la plupart des composants mécaniques du gros Ranger Rover mais a reçu à l’été 2016 un 4 cylindres diesel en entrée de gamme, pour faire baisser les consommations et le ticket d’entrée par rapport aux habituels 6 ou 8 cylindres. Cette version, appelée SD4, reçoit le même bloc que le Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, forte de 240 ch. Ce Range Rover Sport reste fidèle aux 4 roues motrices, mais n’a accès qu’aux 3 premiers niveaux de finition de la gamme, à savoir S, SE ou HSE.
L’intérieur se montre très flatteur en qualité de présentation : ce mélange de cuir et bois fleure bon le luxe à l’anglaise avec une finition soignée et une ergonomie efficace, même si le cuir sur la planche de bord est en option. Le levier de vitesse est spécifique au Range Sport, qui n’a pas droit à la molette du Range tout court. A l’arrière, l’habitabilité permet d’accueillir deux adultes sans problème, qui profitent de sièges bien dessinés, mais un passager central sera mal installé. Le coffre dépasse les 500 dm3 selon nos mesures. A noter que vous pouvez y installer une 3e rangée de siège en option.
Au démarrage, le 4 cylindres reste discret : il ne fera entendre sa sonorité quelconque qu’après 3000 tours. En revanche, l’insonorisation sur autoroute est remarquable. Grâce à un couple très généreux de 500 Nm, le SD4 parvient à animer sans problème les 2,3 tonnes de l’engin. Certes la poussée n’est pas aussi franche qu’avec le V6 diesel, mais suffisante avec des relances correctes. Côté châssis, notre modèle d’essai, doté de suspension pneumatique optionnelle et de roues de 21 pouces, manquait de confort. Il avale sans problème les grandes courbes, mais n’aime pas être brusqué dans les enchaînements.
En consommations, ce modèle fait baisser la moyenne de 1 litre selon nos mesures par rapport au V6 diesel de 258 ch : le gain est donc sensible. Pour les tarifs, cette motorisation fait baisser le ticket d’entrée du Ranger Sport à 63000 € en entrée de gamme. Notre modèle d’essai monte quant à lui à 73000 € hors option, ce qui fait cher pour un 4 cylindres même si la sensation de luxe est bien présente. A noter qu’avec cette motorisation SD4, la suspension pneumatique est en option, de même que la gamme courte pour le franchissement. A l’heure actuelle, le Range tout court n’a pas droit à ce 4 cylindres.

We can all agree that the term SUV, or sport utility vehicle, was coined by the Americans back in the 1980s, and is now applied to any high riding car with a hint of black plastic around the wheel arches.
But did you know the concept of the luxury SUV was invented in the UK 15 years before that, by Land Rover engineers who wanted something a bit more than a metal floor and hessian seats?
In some case, it's taken the competition forty years to catch onto that idea.
Range Rover took that notion a step further with a smaller, cheaper version, and it's just been updated for 2017. This is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE.
Now, using the term SUV around a Range Rover feels a bit wrong. This is, after all, a very competent, very accomplished off roader, with as much performance in the bush as it has around town.
It uses Land Rover's very clever Terrain Control system which has been tweaked for 2017, and it allows you to, basically, set the the correct mode for whatever terrain you're in and let the car do the work.
For a big unit, it's got the ability of a mountain goat.
The TDV6 SE is the second model in the range, and costs just over $100,000 before on roads.
For that, you get what is probably the most sensible engine in the Range Rover line up, a three litre V6 turbo diesel that provides lots of grunt for not much fuel usage.
For 2017, Range Rover has added AEB as standard across the range, as well as lane departure control.
It also gets this new multimedia system called In Control Touch Pro, which allows you to pinch and drag maps and to swipe through screens. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto, though, I'm afraid.
Otherwise, the Range Rover Sport remains as it's been for the last 13 years – a slightly smaller, much more affordable version of the regular Range Rover.
The thing is - it's hard to tell the two apart unless you have them parked side by side – and given this version of the Sport is about $80,000 cheaper than the entry level Range Rover Vogue, it's a compelling argument.
In that sense, it's a rival for newer cars like the Audi Q7, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D and even sister brand Jaguar's F-Pace – but there's something about the Range Rover that sets it apart.
From here, it feels… I don't know… regal? High class? Well heeled? Even though it's smaller than a regular Range Rover, this still a big car, with a lot of room inside and a lot of bonnet in front of you.
The engine under that bonnet? It's a real sweetie, too. It's the strong and silent type, with more than enough grunt to get the 2.1 tonne Sport moving at a fair clip.
It comes standard with air suspension, too, so the ride is soft and compliant. The large 21-inch rims, though, can send bumps back into the cabin.
Overall, though, the Sport is still a very relevant car in this new era of luxury SUVs. It offers a lot of car for the money, and there's that badge cachet, too.
It's not perfect – the interior packaging is showing its age a bit, and there have been a few recalls of late that throw a question mark over built quality – but Range Rover isn't alone in this regard, of course.
I have to confess, at first glance I thought this car was a lot more expensive than it actually is. But that's part of its attraction, really. The Range Rover Sport feels a bit special inside and out – and the fact that it really is a genuinely sporty utility vehicle just adds to that feeling.

We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test.
We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic.
The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim.
First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds.
More importantly is the economy of the engine. A combined cycle claims to return 45.6mpg, but the engine will be targeted at company car users as the SD4 emits 164g/km of CO2.
There’s also a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol which adds some punch. It develops 335bhp and 332ft/lbs of torque. That means it’ll sprint from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds, with a claimed combined fuel economy of 26.9mpg. However, it has CO2 emissions of 243g/km.
New for 2017 is a Bright Work pack for the Autobiography Dynamic trim, which includes an Atlas Silver front grille mesh and Atlas Silver bonnet mesh. There also more paint colours to choose from across the range.
New technology includes Advanced Driver Assistance, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch and InControl Touch Pro for the infotainment system.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear park distance control and cruise control with speed limiter.
The emergency braking system uses a forward facing camera to detect a potential collision before automatically applying the brakes if the driver has failed to do so.
An optional Drive Pack provides traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, driver condition monitoring (to make sure the driver isn’t drowsy) and a clever intelligent speed limiter, which automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to correlate with the local speed limits.
Advanced tow assist uses the cars surround cameras to assist when reversing with a trailer attached, adding useful guidelines to follow. It’s also capable of automatically steering the car to a pre-selected route.
Low traction launch is designed to aid pullaway on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or wet grass.
The infotainment system now gets InControl Touch Pro, which uses a new 10in dual view touchscreen display, while a navigation map can be sent to the instrument binnacle. Additional features include remote functions to control the climate control, alarm and even start the engine.
A new commute mode learns the routes that you take most regularly and can recommend the best route to avoid current traffic delays and can also share your eta with whomever you choose, through your smartphone.
The 2017 model is on sale now with prices starting from £59,700 for 2.0-litre SD4 HSE.

Range Rover
The Range Rover is a full size luxury four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle (SUV) also with extensive off road capabilities, produced by British car maker Land Rover, and serves as its flagship model. Land Rover is one of several auto manufacturers owned by Tata, the Indian multinational conglomerate Tata Group. The Range Rover was launched in 1970, and created a new space in the automotive world. It is now in its fourth generation. Land Rover has expanded the Range Rover model line to include two different designs: the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport that derive core styling, brand identity and breadth of capability from the current Range Rover model.
History
The Rover Company (the creator of the Land Rover marque) had been experimenting with a larger model than the Land Rover Series as far back as 1951, when the Rover P4-based two-wheel-drive "Road Rover" project was developed by Gordon Bashford. This was shelved in 1958, and the idea lay dormant until 1966, when engineers Spen King and Bashford set to work on a new model.

Range Rover Sport
The Range Rover Sport is a Land Rover mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced in the United Kingdom by Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors. The first generation (codename L320) went into production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename L494) in 2013.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupè that was found unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" hood, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h top speed, 4WD and a 2500 kg weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue. A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.

Land Rover
Land Rover is a car brand that specialises in four-wheel-drive vehicles, owned by British multinational car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, which is in turn owned by India's Tata Motors since 2008.
The Land Rover name was originally used by the Rover Company for the Land Rover Series, launched in 1948. It developed into a brand encompassing a range of four-wheel-drive models, including the Defender, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. Land Rovers are currently assembled in the company's Halewood and Solihull plants, with research and development taking place at the Gaydon and Whitley engineering centres. Le Ranger Rover Sport est censé être une version plus sportive du Range Rover tout court. Un peu plus court, un peu plus bas et léger, il reprend la plupart des composants mécaniques du gros Ranger Rover mais a reçu à l’été 2016 un 4 cylindres diesel en entrée de gamme, pour faire baisser les consommations et le ticket d’entrée par rapport aux habituels 6 ou 8 cylindres. Cette version, appelée SD4, reçoit le même bloc que le Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, forte de 240 ch. Ce Range Rover Sport reste fidèle aux 4 roues motrices, mais n’a accès qu’aux 3 premiers niveaux de finition de la gamme, à savoir S, SE ou HSE. L’intérieur se montre très flatteur en qualité de présentation : ce mélange de cuir et bois fleure bon le luxe à l’anglaise avec une finition soignée et une ergonomie efficace, même si le cuir sur la planche de bord est en option. Le levier de vitesse est spécifique au Range Sport, qui n’a pas droit à la molette du Range tout court. A l’arrière, l’habitabilité permet d’accueillir deux adultes sans problème, qui profitent de sièges bien dessinés, mais un passager central sera mal installé. Le coffre dépasse les 500 dm3 selon nos mesures. A noter que vous pouvez y installer une 3e rangée de siège en option. Au démarrage, le 4 cylindres reste discret : il ne fera entendre sa sonorité quelconque qu’après 3000 tours. En revanche, l’insonorisation sur autoroute est remarquable. Grâce à un couple très généreux de 500 Nm, le SD4 parvient à animer sans problème les 2,3 tonnes de l’engin. Certes la poussée n’est pas aussi franche qu’avec le V6 diesel, mais suffisante avec des relances correctes. Côté châssis, notre modèle d’essai, doté de suspension pneumatique optionnelle et de roues de 21 pouces, manquait de confort. Il avale sans problème les grandes courbes, mais n’aime pas être brusqué dans les enchaînements. En consommations, ce modèle fait baisser la moyenne de 1 litre selon nos mesures par rapport au V6 diesel de 258 ch : le gain est donc sensible. Pour les tarifs, cette motorisation fait baisser le ticket d’entrée du Ranger Sport à 63000 € en entrée de gamme. Notre modèle d’essai monte quant à lui à 73000 € hors option, ce qui fait cher pour un 4 cylindres même si la sensation de luxe est bien présente. A noter qu’avec cette motorisation SD4, la suspension pneumatique est en option, de même que la gamme courte pour le franchissement. A l’heure actuelle, le Range tout court n’a pas droit à ce 4 cylindres. -

But did you know the concept of the luxury SUV was invented in the UK 15 years before that, by Land Rover engineers who wanted something a bit more than a metal floor and hessian seats? In some case, it's taken the competition forty years to catch onto that idea. Range Rover took that notion a step further with a smaller, cheaper version, and it's just been updated for 2017. This is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE. Now, using the term SUV around a Range Rover feels a bit wrong. This is, after all, a very competent, very accomplished off roader, with as much performance in the bush as it has around town. It uses Land Rover's very clever Terrain Control system which has been tweaked for 2017, and it allows you to, basically, set the the correct mode for whatever terrain you're in and let the car do the work. For a big unit, it's got the ability of a mountain goat. The TDV6 SE is the second model in the range, and costs just over $100,000 before on roads. For that, you get what is probably the most sensible engine in the Range Rover line up, a three litre V6 turbo diesel that provides lots of grunt for not much fuel usage. For 2017, Range Rover has added AEB as standard across the range, as well as lane departure control. It also gets this new multimedia system called In Control Touch Pro, which allows you to pinch and drag maps and to swipe through screens. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto, though, I'm afraid. Otherwise, the Range Rover Sport remains as it's been for the last 13 years – a slightly smaller, much more affordable version of the regular Range Rover. The thing is - it's hard to tell the two apart unless you have them parked side by side – and given this version of the Sport is about $80,000 cheaper than the entry level Range Rover Vogue, it's a compelling argument. In that sense, it's a rival for newer cars like the Audi Q7, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D and even sister brand Jaguar's F-Pace – but there's something about the Range Rover that sets it apart. From here, it feels… I don't know… regal? High class? Well heeled? Even though it's smaller than a regular Range Rover, this still a big car, with a lot of room inside and a lot of bonnet in front of you. The engine under that bonnet? It's a real sweetie, too. It's the strong and silent type, with more than enough grunt to get the 2.1 tonne Sport moving at a fair clip. It comes standard with air suspension, too, so the ride is soft and compliant. The large 21-inch rims, though, can send bumps back into the cabin. Overall, though, the Sport is still a very relevant car in this new era of luxury SUVs. It offers a lot of car for the money, and there's that badge cachet, too. It's not perfect – the interior packaging is showing its age a bit, and there have been a few recalls of late that throw a question mark over built quality – but Range Rover isn't alone in this regard, of course. I have to confess, at first glance I thought this car was a lot more expensive than it actually is. But that's part of its attraction, really. We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test. We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic. The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim. First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. More importantly is the economy of the engine. A combined cycle claims to return 45.6mpg, but the engine will be targeted at company car users as the SD4 emits 164g/km of CO2. There’s also a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol which adds some punch. It develops 335bhp and 332ft/lbs of torque. That means it’ll sprint from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds, with a claimed combined fuel economy of 26.9mpg. However, it has CO2 emissions of 243g/km. New for 2017 is a Bright Work pack for the Autobiography Dynamic trim, which includes an Atlas Silver front grille mesh and Atlas Silver bonnet mesh. There also more paint colours to choose from across the range. New technology includes Advanced Driver Assistance, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch and InControl Touch Pro for the infotainment system. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear park distance control and cruise control with speed limiter. The emergency braking system uses a forward facing camera to detect a potential collision before automatically applying the brakes if the driver has failed to do so. An optional Drive Pack provides traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, driver condition monitoring (to make sure the driver isn’t drowsy) and a clever intelligent speed limiter, which automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to correlate with the local speed limits. Advanced tow assist uses the cars surround cameras to assist when reversing with a trailer attached, adding useful guidelines to follow. It’s also capable of automatically steering the car to a pre-selected route. Low traction launch is designed to aid pullaway on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or wet grass. The infotainment system now gets InControl Touch Pro, which uses a new 10in dual view touchscreen display, while a navigation map can be sent to the instrument binnacle. Additional features include remote functions to control the climate control, alarm and even start the engine. A new commute mode learns the routes that you take most regularly and can recommend the best route to avoid current traffic delays and can also share your eta with whomever you choose, through your smartphone. The most upscale version of the Range Rover Sport is the Autobiography model with four-corner air suspension, added low-speed transfer case and additional dynamic settings. 2017 Range Rover Sport Road Test | Driver's Seat
We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test. We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic. The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim. First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. More importantly is the economy of the engine. Le Ranger Rover Sport est censé être une version plus sportive du Range Rover tout court. Un peu plus court, un peu plus bas et léger, il reprend la plupart des composants mécaniques du gros Ranger Rover mais a reçu à l’été 2016 un 4 cylindres diesel en entrée de gamme, pour faire baisser les consommations et le ticket d’entrée par rapport aux habituels 6 ou 8 cylindres. Cette version, appelée SD4, reçoit le même bloc que le Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, forte de 240 ch. Ce Range Rover Sport reste fidèle aux 4 roues motrices, mais n’a accès qu’aux 3 premiers niveaux de finition de la gamme, à savoir S, SE ou HSE.
L’intérieur se montre très flatteur en qualité de présentation : ce mélange de cuir et bois fleure bon le luxe à l’anglaise avec une finition soignée et une ergonomie efficace, même si le cuir sur la planche de bord est en option. Le levier de vitesse est spécifique au Range Sport, qui n’a pas droit à la molette du Range tout court. A l’arrière, l’habitabilité permet d’accueillir deux adultes sans problème, qui profitent de sièges bien dessinés, mais un passager central sera mal installé. Le coffre dépasse les 500 dm3 selon nos mesures. A noter que vous pouvez y installer une 3e rangée de siège en option.
Au démarrage, le 4 cylindres reste discret : il ne fera entendre sa sonorité quelconque qu’après 3000 tours. En revanche, l’insonorisation sur autoroute est remarquable. Grâce à un couple très généreux de 500 Nm, le SD4 parvient à animer sans problème les 2,3 tonnes de l’engin. Certes la poussée n’est pas aussi franche qu’avec le V6 diesel, mais suffisante avec des relances correctes. Côté châssis, notre modèle d’essai, doté de suspension pneumatique optionnelle et de roues de 21 pouces, manquait de confort. Il avale sans problème les grandes courbes, mais n’aime pas être brusqué dans les enchaînements.
En consommations, ce modèle fait baisser la moyenne de 1 litre selon nos mesures par rapport au V6 diesel de 258 ch : le gain est donc sensible. Pour les tarifs, cette motorisation fait baisser le ticket d’entrée du Ranger Sport à 63000 € en entrée de gamme. Notre modèle d’essai monte quant à lui à 73000 € hors option, ce qui fait cher pour un 4 cylindres même si la sensation de luxe est bien présente. A noter qu’avec cette motorisation SD4, la suspension pneumatique est en option, de même que la gamme courte pour le franchissement. A l’heure actuelle, le Range tout court n’a pas droit à ce 4 cylindres.

In some case, it's taken the competition forty years to catch onto that idea.
Range Rover took that notion a step further with a smaller, cheaper version, and it's just been updated for 2017. This is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE.
Now, using the term SUV around a Range Rover feels a bit wrong. This is, after all, a very competent, very accomplished off roader, with as much performance in the bush as it has around town.
It uses Land Rover's very clever Terrain Control system which has been tweaked for 2017, and it allows you to, basically, set the the correct mode for whatever terrain you're in and let the car do the work.
For a big unit, it's got the ability of a mountain goat.
The TDV6 SE is the second model in the range, and costs just over $100,000 before on roads.
For that, you get what is probably the most sensible engine in the Range Rover line up, a three litre V6 turbo diesel that provides lots of grunt for not much fuel usage.
For 2017, Range Rover has added AEB as standard across the range, as well as lane departure control.
It also gets this new multimedia system called In Control Touch Pro, which allows you to pinch and drag maps and to swipe through screens. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto, though, I'm afraid.
Otherwise, the Range Rover Sport remains as it's been for the last 13 years – a slightly smaller, much more affordable version of the regular Range Rover.
The thing is - it's hard to tell the two apart unless you have them parked side by side – and given this version of the Sport is about $80,000 cheaper than the entry level Range Rover Vogue, it's a compelling argument.
In that sense, it's a rival for newer cars like the Audi Q7, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D and even sister brand Jaguar's F-Pace – but there's something about the Range Rover that sets it apart.
From here, it feels… I don't know… regal? High class? Well heeled? Even though it's smaller than a regular Range Rover, this still a big car, with a lot of room inside and a lot of bonnet in front of you.
The engine under that bonnet? It's a real sweetie, too. It's the strong and silent type, with more than enough grunt to get the 2.1 tonne Sport moving at a fair clip.
It comes standard with air suspension, too, so the ride is soft and compliant. The large 21-inch rims, though, can send bumps back into the cabin.
Overall, though, the Sport is still a very relevant car in this new era of luxury SUVs. It offers a lot of car for the money, and there's that badge cachet, too.
It's not perfect – the interior packaging is showing its age a bit, and there have been a few recalls of late that throw a question mark over built quality – but Range Rover isn't alone in this regard, of course.
I have to confess, at first glance I thought this car was a lot more expensive than it actually is. But that's part of its attraction, really. The Range Rover Sport feels a bit special inside and out – and the fact that it really is a genuinely sporty utility vehicle just adds to that feeling.

We can all agree that the term SUV, or sport utility vehicle, was coined by the Americans back in the 1980s, and is now applied to any high riding car with a hint of black plastic around the wheel arches.
But did you know the concept of the luxury SUV was invented in the UK 15 years before that, by Land Rover engineers who wanted something a bit more than a metal floor and hessian seats?

We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test.
We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic.
The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim.
First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds.
More importantly is the economy of the engine. A combined cycle claims to return 45.6mpg, but the engine will be targeted at company car users as the SD4 emits 164g/km of CO2.
There’s also a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol which adds some punch. It develops 335bhp and 332ft/lbs of torque. That means it’ll sprint from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds, with a claimed combined fuel economy of 26.9mpg. However, it has CO2 emissions of 243g/km.
New for 2017 is a Bright Work pack for the Autobiography Dynamic trim, which includes an Atlas Silver front grille mesh and Atlas Silver bonnet mesh. There also more paint colours to choose from across the range.
New technology includes Advanced Driver Assistance, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch and InControl Touch Pro for the infotainment system.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear park distance control and cruise control with speed limiter.
The emergency braking system uses a forward facing camera to detect a potential collision before automatically applying the brakes if the driver has failed to do so.
An optional Drive Pack provides traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, driver condition monitoring (to make sure the driver isn’t drowsy) and a clever intelligent speed limiter, which automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to correlate with the local speed limits.
Advanced tow assist uses the cars surround cameras to assist when reversing with a trailer attached, adding useful guidelines to follow. It’s also capable of automatically steering the car to a pre-selected route.
Low traction launch is designed to aid pullaway on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or wet grass.
The infotainment system now gets InControl Touch Pro, which uses a new 10in dual view touchscreen display, while a navigation map can be sent to the instrument binnacle. Additional features include remote functions to control the climate control, alarm and even start the engine.
A new commute mode learns the routes that you take most regularly and can recommend the best route to avoid current traffic delays and can also share your eta with whomever you choose, through your smartphone.
The 2017 model is on sale now with prices starting from £59,700 for 2.0-litre SD4 HSE.

The most upscale version of the Range Rover Sport is the Autobiography model with four-corner air suspension, added low-speed transfer case and additional dynamic settings. 2017 Range Rover Sport Road Test | Driver's Seat
We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test. We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic. The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim. First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. More importantly is the economy of the engine. Le Ranger Rover Sport est censé être une version plus sportive du Range Rover tout court. Un peu plus court, un peu plus bas et léger, il reprend la plupart des composants mécaniques du gros Ranger Rover mais a reçu à l’été 2016 un 4 cylindres diesel en entrée de gamme, pour faire baisser les consommations et le ticket d’entrée par rapport aux habituels 6 ou 8 cylindres. Cette version, appelée SD4, reçoit le même bloc que le Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, forte de 240 ch. Ce Range Rover Sport reste fidèle aux 4 roues motrices, mais n’a accès qu’aux 3 premiers niveaux de finition de la gamme, à savoir S, SE ou HSE.
L’intérieur se montre très flatteur en qualité de présentation : ce mélange de cuir et bois fleure bon le luxe à l’anglaise avec une finition soignée et une ergonomie efficace, même si le cuir sur la planche de bord est en option. Le levier de vitesse est spécifique au Range Sport, qui n’a pas droit à la molette du Range tout court. A l’arrière, l’habitabilité permet d’accueillir deux adultes sans problème, qui profitent de sièges bien dessinés, mais un passager central sera mal installé. Le coffre dépasse les 500 dm3 selon nos mesures. A noter que vous pouvez y installer une 3e rangée de siège en option.
Au démarrage, le 4 cylindres reste discret : il ne fera entendre sa sonorité quelconque qu’après 3000 tours. En revanche, l’insonorisation sur autoroute est remarquable. Grâce à un couple très généreux de 500 Nm, le SD4 parvient à animer sans problème les 2,3 tonnes de l’engin. Certes la poussée n’est pas aussi franche qu’avec le V6 diesel, mais suffisante avec des relances correctes. Côté châssis, notre modèle d’essai, doté de suspension pneumatique optionnelle et de roues de 21 pouces, manquait de confort. Il avale sans problème les grandes courbes, mais n’aime pas être brusqué dans les enchaînements.
En consommations, ce modèle fait baisser la moyenne de 1 litre selon nos mesures par rapport au V6 diesel de 258 ch : le gain est donc sensible. Pour les tarifs, cette motorisation fait baisser le ticket d’entrée du Ranger Sport à 63000 € en entrée de gamme. Notre modèle d’essai monte quant à lui à 73000 € hors option, ce qui fait cher pour un 4 cylindres même si la sensation de luxe est bien présente. A noter qu’avec cette motorisation SD4, la suspension pneumatique est en option, de même que la gamme courte pour le franchissement. A l’heure actuelle, le Range tout court n’a pas droit à ce 4 cylindres.

We can all agree that the term SUV, or sport utility vehicle, was coined by the Americans back in the 1980s, and is now applied to any high riding car with a hint of black plastic around the wheel arches.
But did you know the concept of the luxury SUV was invented in the UK 15 years before that, by Land Rover engineers who wanted something a bit more than a metal floor and hessian seats?
In some case, it's taken the competition forty years to catch onto that idea.
Range Rover took that notion a step further with a smaller, cheaper version, and it's just been updated for 2017. This is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE.
Now, using the term SUV around a Range Rover feels a bit wrong. This is, after all, a very competent, very accomplished off roader, with as much performance in the bush as it has around town.
It uses Land Rover's very clever Terrain Control system which has been tweaked for 2017, and it allows you to, basically, set the the correct mode for whatever terrain you're in and let the car do the work.
For a big unit, it's got the ability of a mountain goat.
The TDV6 SE is the second model in the range, and costs just over $100,000 before on roads.
For that, you get what is probably the most sensible engine in the Range Rover line up, a three litre V6 turbo diesel that provides lots of grunt for not much fuel usage.
For 2017, Range Rover has added AEB as standard across the range, as well as lane departure control.
It also gets this new multimedia system called In Control Touch Pro, which allows you to pinch and drag maps and to swipe through screens. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto, though, I'm afraid.
Otherwise, the Range Rover Sport remains as it's been for the last 13 years – a slightly smaller, much more affordable version of the regular Range Rover.
The thing is - it's hard to tell the two apart unless you have them parked side by side – and given this version of the Sport is about $80,000 cheaper than the entry level Range Rover Vogue, it's a compelling argument.
In that sense, it's a rival for newer cars like the Audi Q7, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D and even sister brand Jaguar's F-Pace – but there's something about the Range Rover that sets it apart.
From here, it feels… I don't know… regal? High class? Well heeled? Even though it's smaller than a regular Range Rover, this still a big car, with a lot of room inside and a lot of bonnet in front of you.
The engine under that bonnet? It's a real sweetie, too. It's the strong and silent type, with more than enough grunt to get the 2.1 tonne Sport moving at a fair clip.
It comes standard with air suspension, too, so the ride is soft and compliant. The large 21-inch rims, though, can send bumps back into the cabin.
Overall, though, the Sport is still a very relevant car in this new era of luxury SUVs. It offers a lot of car for the money, and there's that badge cachet, too.
It's not perfect – the interior packaging is showing its age a bit, and there have been a few recalls of late that throw a question mark over built quality – but Range Rover isn't alone in this regard, of course.
I have to confess, at first glance I thought this car was a lot more expensive than it actually is. But that's part of its attraction, really. The Range Rover Sport feels a bit special inside and out – and the fact that it really is a genuinely sporty utility vehicle just adds to that feeling.

We can all agree that the term SUV, or sport utility vehicle, was coined by the Americans back in the 1980s, and is now applied to any high riding car with a hint of black plastic around the wheel arches.
But did you know the concept of the luxury SUV was invented in the UK 15 years before that, by Land Rover engineers who wanted something a bit more than a metal floor and hessian seats?
In some case, it's taken the competition forty years to catch onto that idea.
Range Rover took that notion a step further with a smaller, cheaper version, and it's just been updated for 2017. This is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE.
Now, using the term SUV around a Range Rover feels a bit wrong. This is, after all, a very competent, very accomplished off roader, with as much performance in the bush as it has around town.
It uses Land Rover's very clever Terrain Control system which has been tweaked for 2017, and it allows you to, basically, set the the correct mode for whatever terrain you're in and let the car do the work.
For a big unit, it's got the ability of a mountain goat.
The TDV6 SE is the second model in the range, and costs just over $100,000 before on roads.
For that, you get what is probably the most sensible engine in the Range Rover line up, a three litre V6 turbo diesel that provides lots of grunt for not much fuel usage.
For 2017, Range Rover has added AEB as standard across the range, as well as lane departure control.
It also gets this new multimedia system called In Control Touch Pro, which allows you to pinch and drag maps and to swipe through screens. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto, though, I'm afraid.

We've been taking a look at the new 2017 Range Rover Sport including its new engines and equipment during a road test.
We tested the 3.0-litre SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic.
The 2017 Range Rover Sport gets two new engines, including an entry-level 2.0-litre diesel, new technology and revisions to the Dynamic trim.
First for the Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the all-alumiunium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which already features in the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander Sport. The twin-turbo SD4 develops 237bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, getting from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds.
More importantly is the economy of the engine. A combined cycle claims to return 45.6mpg, but the engine will be targeted at company car users as the SD4 emits 164g/km of CO2.
There’s also a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol which adds some punch. It develops 335bhp and 332ft/lbs of torque. That means it’ll sprint from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds, with a claimed combined fuel economy of 26.9mpg. However, it has CO2 emissions of 243g/km.
New for 2017 is a Bright Work pack for the Autobiography Dynamic trim, which includes an Atlas Silver front grille mesh and Atlas Silver bonnet mesh. There also more paint colours to choose from across the range.
New technology includes Advanced Driver Assistance, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch and InControl Touch Pro for the infotainment system.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear park distance control and cruise control with speed limiter.
The emergency braking system uses a forward facing camera to detect a potential collision before automatically applying the brakes if the driver has failed to do so.
An optional Drive Pack provides traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, driver condition monitoring (to make sure the driver isn’t drowsy) and a clever intelligent speed limiter, which automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to correlate with the local speed limits.
Advanced tow assist uses the cars surround cameras to assist when reversing with a trailer attached, adding useful guidelines to follow. It’s also capable of automatically steering the car to a pre-selected route.
Low traction launch is designed to aid pullaway on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or wet grass.
The infotainment system now gets InControl Touch Pro, which uses a new 10in dual view touchscreen display, while a navigation map can be sent to the instrument binnacle. Additional features include remote functions to control the climate control, alarm and even start the engine.
A new commute mode learns the routes that you take most regularly and can recommend the best route to avoid current traffic delays and can also share your eta with whomever you choose, through your smartphone.
The 2017 model is on sale now with prices starting from £59,700 for 2.0-litre SD4 HSE.
