Seville (/səˈvɪl/; Spanish: Sevilla, Spanish pronunciation: [seˈβiʎa] ( listen), locally: [seˈβiʝa]) is a Spanish city, it is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia and the province of Seville. It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir. The inhabitants of the city are known as sevillanos (feminine form: sevillanas) or hispalenses, after the Roman name of the city, Hispalis. Seville has a municipal population of about 703,000 as of 2011, and a metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the fourth-largest city in Spain and the 30th most populous municipality in the European Union. Its Old Town, the third largest in Europe with an area of 4 square kilometres (2 sq mi), contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir, with an average elevation of 23 feet above sea level. The population of the city of Seville is just over 700,000. The population of the metropolitan area is 1.5 million, ranking as the fourth largest metropolitan area of Spain.
The video begins at the Plaza de España, one of Seville's most easily recognized buildings and the epitome of the Moorish Revival in Spanish architecture. Next it is into the old quarter of the city where our first stop was the Royal Alcázar, a royal palace which was originally a Moorish fort. Next we walk to The Cathedral of Seville which is the largest Gothic cathedral and the fourth largest Christian church in the world. Our walk continues through the narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district. We were treated to flemenco music and dance during our lunch at the Macarena Hotel. After lunch I walk around the Parliament building of the autonomous community of Andalucía which was across the street from the hotel. It was back on the bus after lunch as we drive past the El Alamillo Bridge and bull ring as we drive out of town.

Sevilla or Seville, Spain is one of the best cities to visit in Spain. It is well worth the trip, whether for its flamenco flair or bullfighting history the city has much to offer. Here is our list of the top 10 sites to see when you visit Seville.
1. Hike up the Giralda. Go up 90 meters in the tower to see the amazing views of the city of Sevilla.
2. Tour inside the cathedral. The Sevilla cathedral is one of the largets churches in Spain and is stock full of amazing chapels and tombs (even Columbus is here).
3. The Alcazar. the former gardans and mini palaces of the royal residence of Sevilla over the years.
4. Plaza de Espana. A leftover of a non-existent exposition, but what a left over it is. Amazing architecture as well as some little museums and it gives you a reprieve from the urban heat.
5. Archivo de las Indias: Museum with a collection of documents, histories and archives from Spain's forrays into the Americas.
6. Celebrating Holy Week (Semana Santa) and the April Fair in Sevilla.
7. Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. This bullring is the home of bullfighting. Catch a show (caution not for the faint of heart) also has a museum on bullfighting.
8. Bairro Santa Cruz. The small streets where you feel like you walk into the past in the old Jewish Quarter.
9. Walk on the riverfront and see the Torre de Oro, Gold Tower.
10. Isla Magica. An amusement park and water park, great to get away from the history and heat.

Tapas and Spain go together like baguettes and France. As promised here is my first episode from Sevilla, Spain chasing my passions and my storybook vacation with Expedia. In this video, a local, David Ciudad of the website Notjustatourist.com, showed me a couple of his most beloved restaurants in the Triana neighborhood of Sevilla.
Triana is a bustling part of town that is markedly different from the rest of the city. The concentration of historic architecture and manicured gardens found across the river in Sevilla are replaced here by a vibrant local scene. Triana has it's own festivals and is a hub of Flamenco culture. In fact, many who live in Triana identify as Trianeros rather than Sevillians.
Whether in Triana, in Sevilla-proper or Spain at large, I find that eating tapas is a really fun and social way to dine. Often in bars like we visited in the video you have the option to stay standing while eating or you can find a seat. Tapas are best enjoyed by sharing and trying as many tastes as you can. With all the flavors, I tend to feel more satisfied after a meal of tapas than if I do with regularly coursed meals. All that variety makes for a special experience.

Lionel Andrés "Leo" Messi (Spanish pronunciation: [ljoˈnel anˈdɾes ˈmesi]; born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina national team. It is well worth the trip, whether for its flamenco flair or bullfighting history the city has much to offer. Here is our list of the top 10 sites to see when you visit Seville. 1. Hike up the Giralda. Go up 90 meters in the tower to see the amazing views of the city of Sevilla. 2. Tour inside the cathedral. The Sevilla cathedral is one of the largets churches in Spain and is stock full of amazing chapels and tombs (even Columbus is here). 3. The Alcazar. the former gardans and mini palaces of the royal residence of Sevilla over the years. 4. Plaza de Espana. A leftover of a non-existent exposition, but what a left over it is. Amazing architecture as well as some little museums and it gives you a reprieve from the urban heat. 5. Archivo de las Indias: Museum with a collection of documents, histories and archives from Spain's forrays into the Americas. 6. Celebrating Holy Week (Semana Santa) and the April Fair in Sevilla. 7. Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. This bullring is the home of bullfighting. Catch a show (caution not for the faint of heart) also has a museum on bullfighting. 8. Bairro Santa Cruz. The small streets where you feel like you walk into the past in the old Jewish Quarter. 9. Walk on the riverfront and see the Torre de Oro, Gold Tower. 10. Isla Magica. Tapas and Spain go together like baguettes and France. As promised here is my first episode from Sevilla, Spain chasing my passions and my storybook vacation with Expedia. In this video, a local, David Ciudad of the website Notjustatourist.com, showed me a couple of his most beloved restaurants in the Triana neighborhood of Sevilla. Triana is a bustling part of town that is markedly different from the rest of the city. The concentration of historic architecture and manicured gardens found across the river in Sevilla are replaced here by a vibrant local scene. Triana has it's own festivals and is a hub of Flamenco culture. In fact, many who live in Triana identify as Trianeros rather than Sevillians. Whether in Triana, in Sevilla-proper or Spain at large, I find that eating tapas is a really fun and social way to dine. Often in bars like we visited in the video you have the option to stay standing while eating or you can find a seat. Tapas are best enjoyed by sharing and trying as many tastes as you can. With all the flavors, I tend to feel more satisfied after a meal of tapas than if I do with regularly coursed meals. All that variety makes for a special experience. Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Industrie- und Handelsplatz und Touristenzentrum. Sevilla liegt zu beiden Seiten des bis hierhin auch für Seeschiffe befahrbaren Guadalquivir, in einer weiten und fruchtbaren Ebene. Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir, with an average elevation of 23 feet above sea level. The population of the city of Seville is just over 700,000. The population of the metropolitan area is 1.5 million, ranking as the fourth largest metropolitan area of Spain.
The video begins at the Plaza de España, one of Seville's most easily recognized buildings and the epitome of the Moorish Revival in Spanish architecture. Next it is into the old quarter of the city where our first stop was the Royal Alcázar, a royal palace which was originally a Moorish fort. Next we walk to The Cathedral of Seville which is the largest Gothic cathedral and the fourth largest Christian church in the world. Our walk continues through the narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district. We were treated to flemenco music and dance during our lunch at the Macarena Hotel. After lunch I walk around the Parliament building of the autonomous community of Andalucía which was across the street from the hotel. It was back on the bus after lunch as we drive past the El Alamillo Bridge and bull ring as we drive out of town.

3. The Alcazar. the former gardans and mini palaces of the royal residence of Sevilla over the years.
4. Plaza de Espana. A leftover of a non-existent exposition, but what a left over it is. Amazing architecture as well as some little museums and it gives you a reprieve from the urban heat.
5. Archivo de las Indias: Museum with a collection of documents, histories and archives from Spain's forrays into the Americas.
6. Celebrating Holy Week (Semana Santa) and the April Fair in Sevilla.
7. Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. This bullring is the home of bullfighting. Catch a show (caution not for the faint of heart) also has a museum on bullfighting.
8. Bairro Santa Cruz. The small streets where you feel like you walk into the past in the old Jewish Quarter.
9. Walk on the riverfront and see the Torre de Oro, Gold Tower.
10. Isla Magica. An amusement park and water park, great to get away from the history and heat.

Tapas and Spain go together like baguettes and France. As promised here is my first episode from Sevilla, Spain chasing my passions and my storybook vacation with Expedia. In this video, a local, David Ciudad of the website Notjustatourist.com, showed me a couple of his most beloved restaurants in the Triana neighborhood of Sevilla.
Triana is a bustling part of town that is markedly different from the rest of the city. The concentration of historic architecture and manicured gardens found across the river in Sevilla are replaced here by a vibrant local scene. Triana has it's own festivals and is a hub of Flamenco culture. In fact, many who live in Triana identify as Trianeros rather than Sevillians.
Whether in Triana, in Sevilla-proper or Spain at large, I find that eating tapas is a really fun and social way to dine. Often in bars like we visited in the video you have the option to stay standing while eating or you can find a seat. Tapas are best enjoyed by sharing and trying as many tastes as you can. With all the flavors, I tend to feel more satisfied after a meal of tapas than if I do with regularly coursed meals. All that variety makes for a special experience.

This week we are exploring another Spanish city. We are in Barcelona and this video is going to highlight 25 things to do here.
It is kind of hard to believe our time in Barcelona has expired. So final thoughts.
Well, it was a really fun city to visit. Great architecture, really nice beaches. It is very lively especially at night. The only downfall is that we were here in the middle of summer so it was super hot and super crowded and sometimes that made it a little bit difficult to enjoy. Especially at midday or in the mid-afternoon. So keep that in mind. Maybe consider visiting in the springtime, fall, winter.
Well, so what did you think of the city?
It is definitely a fun city. We had a lot of fun going to the beaches. One thing that is really different about this city compared to some other European cities though is that it is really spread out. In order for us to visit all of these different attractions we had to chunk them together into groups to visit them day by day. Overall, it was a decent city. It didn't quite click with me the same way that Madrid did. But that is just personal preference I suppose.
And that is a wrap for Barcelona! Our 5 days in the city flew by, and while this guide didn't cover everything, we hope we were able to give you a feel of what this fun seaside city has to offer. Hola y bienvenidos a Madrid. This week we are in the Spanish capital and we are going to show you twenty five of the best things to do in the city.
Final thoughts on your time in Madrid. Well, I really enjoyed the city. And I really found that it is super walk-able. We were here for 10 days and we hardly had to take the metro at all. We just took the bus once when we were visiting the stadium but the rest of the time we were able to walk wherever we needed to go. And also I think it is a great city for art lovers. There are so many galleries and museums to check out. And a lot of them are free in the evening. So keep that in mind.
And now it is your turn. What did you think of Madrid? You know what? I absolutely loved Madrid. It is a city that just really clicked with me. We have a lot of friends that are living here long term and prior to coming here I had no idea like why would someone want to come to Madrid? Now I totally get it. I love the culture, I love the food, I love the nightlife. Everything is really cheap. I go to the grocery store and I can get a one liter thing of wine for just over a Euro. It is just a really affordable fun city to be in. And it is somewhere I hope I have a chance to come back to again soon.

Hola y bienvenidos a Madrid. This week we are in the Spanish capital and we are going to show you twenty five of the best things to do in the city.
Final thoughts on your time in Madrid. Well, I really enjoyed the city. And I really found that it is super walk-able. We were here for 10 days and we hardly had to take the metro at all. We just took the bus once when we were visiting the stadium but the rest of the time we were able to walk wherever we needed to go. And also I think it is a great city for art lovers. There are so many galleries and museums to check out. And a lot of them are free in the evening. So keep that in mind.
And now it is your turn. What did you think of Madrid? You know what? I absolutely loved Madrid. It is a city that just really clicked with me. We have a lot of friends that are living here long term and prior to coming here I had no idea like why would someone want to come to Madrid? Now I totally get it. I love the culture, I love the food, I love the nightlife. Everything is really cheap. I go to the grocery store and I can get a one liter thing of wine for just over a Euro. It is just a really affordable fun city to be in. And it is somewhere I hope I have a chance to come back to again soon.

The Romans conquered San Diago de Compostela, a harbour city that has always been associated with the sea and since the Middle Ages it was, apart from Jerusalem and Rome, the most important pilgrimage destination in Christendom.Some centuries ago each of the large villages of the Rias Baixas prospered due to fishing as did Pontevedra whose old town has been well-preserved with cobbled streets, intimate squares and the residential palaces of the city`s former elite. Vigo is reminiscent of Liverpool in the United Kingdom and is the largest city in Galicia. In 1529 the city began to trade with South America and this brought with it a new wave of prosperity. Then followed the Industrial Revolution which gave rise to a modern commercial city with a huge fishing industry. Madrid is Europe’s most geographically elevated metropolis, a royal capital of history, outstanding buildings and cultural treasures. Madrid has a boulevard that has transformed it into a major metropolis, the Gran Via, which compares in both design and dimensions with the exquisite streets of Paris and New York. Toledo is one of the oldest and proudest cities in Spain where during Roman times one of the greatest settlements was established, not surprising as it is located on a mighty rock foundation which served a useful purpose for its eventual defence. Barcelona is one of the most lively harbour cities on the Mediterranean and, after Madrid, Spain’s second largest city and the capital of Catalonia. On the wide and shady boulevard of La Rambla that passes through the old town to the harbour, life goes on both day and night. The Costa Del Sol is the name of the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain. In former times a variety of bumpy roads connected this region’s sandy bays and remote fishing villages where once the Phoenicians and Romans settled long before the arrival of the Moors. Malaga, Seville, Cordoba and finally Granada, the conclusion of our journey through a world of rocky coastlines and sandy beaches, magnificent cities and Moorish castles, an atmospheric land steeped in a wealth of history.

Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, and was known as Ishbiliya after the Muslim conquest in 712. During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248. Christopher Columbus was welcomed in the palace when he returned from his second voyage to America after having established a trading route with the New World. Its unique mixture of numerous cultures and époques augments the atmosphere of exquisite luxury. With its labyrinth of white alleys, Santa Cruz is the city’s old Jewish district and is located close to both the Real Alcazar and the Catedral. Grated windows, flowerpots on the walls and old wooden gates are typical of this area of the city that exemplifies the traditional Andalusian way of life. The Plaza De Toros and the seasonal hustle and bustle of its bullfights, dominates the El Arenal, the city’s former harbor district. Designed in the 18th century by Vicente San Martin, the bullfight arena was fully restored in the middle of the 19th century. La Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos are the only remains of Sevilla´s Almohad Mosque. The rest of the temple was destroyed by the Christians. Construction began in 1401 and it became the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. After the Petersdom in Rome and St.Paul’s in London, it is the third largest Christian building in the world. With its rich cultural inheritance bequeathed by both the Moors and the Christians, Seville is a truly incredible city with a flamboyant way of life and fiery Latin temperament!
