Pecola (Japanese: ペコラ) is a 3D Japanese-Canadian anime children's television series which stars cube-shaped anthropomorphic animals in a place called Cube Town. It is based on a series of children's picture books by Naomi Iwata. The series aired on Teletoon in 2001 in Canada and on Cartoon Network in 2002 in the United States for 26 episodes. It was produced by Nelvana and Milky Cartoon. This show uses the same graphics as Gregory Horror Show, which was also created by Iwata.
The series has also been shown on TV Tokyo in Japan, YoYo TV in Taiwan, Spacetoon in Indonesia, Nick Jr. in Australia, TF1 in France, and was reruned on Qubo in the United States until 2014.
The show stars Pecola, a curious and hyperactive penguin who tries to help the people of Cube Town but often wreaks havoc instead. Pecola is an orphaned penguin who lives with Pecolias, his grandfather. Cube Town is a small, isolated coastal village which contains an art museum, a beach, a lighthouse and a canal. It is located adjacent to Crescent Bay surrounded by the Rookery Mountains coastal range and serviced by regular ships (including a weekly freighter) which deliver mail, food and other supplies, as well as occasional tourists from a nearby metropolis named Cubic City. The heights above it lead into Glacier Valley which is snowbound even during summer.
Dr. Chu has invented a robot that he hopes will teach Pecola a lesson about how to behave. Robo-Pecola looks exactly like his penguin counterpart, problem is he's not quite perfect yet. So when Pecola accidentally turns him on, he's off through Cube Town, wreaking havoc and leaving Pecola to take the blame. It's now up to Chewy and Pecola to catch the robot and clear Pecola's name (at least for the time being). Subscribe to Treehouse Direct for new clips, episodes, and more! http://goo.gl/IsTLa7
Pecola is taking over for Cori at the café while she goes to watch a movie. All he asks in exchange is a free sandwich, and Pecola invents his own. It's called Pecola's Penguin Special, a delectable combination of peanuts, black jellybeans, blueberries and whipped cream between two slices of bread. Pecola can't swim, so thank goodness he is rescued when his inflatable seahorse loses its plug. But who is this rescuer? Golagola is a sea creature, lost a long way from home and in need of a friend. So Pecola decides to take him home and show him Cube Town. Subscribe to Treehouse Direct for new clips, episodes, and more! http://goo.gl/IsTLa7
Pecola and Little Chu head over to Cactus Railway Station with Robo-Pecola to introduce him to the lovely Steamer. She's almost done working on her train, just needs one last gadget. While she's gone to town for it, Pecola and Little Chu are so busy arguing with each other over Steamer's attention that they don't notice Robo-Pecola. He's completely dismantled Steamer's train and built a rocket instead! Subscribe to Treehouse Direct for new clips, episodes, and more! http://goo.gl/IsTLa7
Jabatt and Bashatt are very good at running their weekly fire drill, even if they've never actually been called to a real fire. Pecola thinks it would be very cool to be a firefighter. And when he goes to visit the station, Jabatt and Bashatt give him a very important job. He is posted on the roof with a pair of binoculars, assigned to keep an eye out for any emergency and given instructions to sound the siren if he spots one. At his friend Rudy's urging, Pecola attempts to break the current world record for most consecutive hours for twirling a yo-yo in the "Around the World" formation. Although everyone in Cube Town wants to support Pecola's bid for fame, they are afraid that he may be sacrificing relationships and shirking responsibilities in his quest for fame and fortune. It's Cube Town's annual triathlon and Bongo is in great shape, ready to claim another victory. Rudy is jealous of all the attention going to Bongo and can't resist boasting that he could do this race blindfolded. So when Bongo sprains his ankle, Coco and Pecola insist that Rudy take his place. I say I'll move the mountains
And I'll move the mountains
If he wants them out of the way
Crazy he calls me
Sure, I'm crazy
Crazy in love, I say
I say I'll go through fire
And I'll go through fire
As he wants it, so it will be
Crazy he calls me
Sure, I'm crazy
Crazy in love, you see
Like the wind that shakes the bough
He moves me with a smile
The difficult I'll do right now
The impossible will take a little while
I say I'll care forever
And I mean forever
If I have to hold up the sky
Crazy he calls me
Sure, I'm crazy
