What is Leap Day? This is a great explanation from The Telegraph (not written by me):
A leap year, where an extra day is added to the end of February every four years, is down to the solar system's disparity with the Gregorian calendar.
A complete orbit of the earth around the sun takes exactly 365.2422 days to complete, but the Gregorian calendar uses 365 days.
So leap seconds - and leap years - are added as means of keeping our clocks (and calendars) in sync with the Earth and its seasons.
Why does the extra day fall in February?
All the other months in the Julian calendar have 30 or 31 days, but February lost out to the ego of Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus.
Under his predecessor Julius Caesar, Feb had 30 days and the month named after him - July - had 31. August had only 29 days.
When Caesar Augustus became Emperor he added two days to 'his' month to make August the same as July.
So February lost out to August in the battle of the extra days.

It only comes around every four years and it can cause people to age very slowly as they wait for their chance to celebrate a birthday.
It's leap year, and it happens according to a unique pattern.
Our Lee Ji-won tells us more about the special day.
"Today is my 6th birthday."
Park Goen-hu is 24 years old, but he's only had six official birthdays... that's because he was born on February 29th.
We know it as Leap Day... and it's a special occasion that only comes around once in every four,... and sometimes eight years.
That's because the Earth doesn't orbit the sun in the 365 days in our calendar year,... but in approximately 365 days and 6 hours.
So the extra six hours are stored up and a full 24 hours is added every four years.
It's also the reason why the four seasons come at the same time every year.
For Leapers, Taiwan, the U.K. and New Zealand, set February 28th as the legal birthday and... March 1st for Hong Kong... but Korea doesn't have any rules regarding February 29th birthdays.
"At times, I celebrate my birthday on February 28th or I wait for a week and celebrate it together with my brother's birthday."
"I celebrate it whenever my family and friends can make it... so sometimes it rolls over to March."
Aside from these rare birthdays, there are some other things that make Leap Day unique.
In the Irish tradition, Leap Day is the only day women can propose marriage because the day was thought to bring good luck... and if men are to reject, they will have to give women silk gowns.
But ironically in Korea and Greece, old sayings tell couples not to get married on Leap Days because they can't get blessing from their ancestors.

February 29, also known as a leap day in the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Years that are evenly divisible by 100, but not by 400, do not contain a leap day; thus 1900 did not contain a leap day while 2000 did. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of the year.
Although most years of the modern calendar have 365 days, a complete revolution around the sun takes approximately 365 days and 6 hours. Every four years, during which an extra 24 hours have accumulated, one extra day is added to keep the count coordinated with the sun's apparent position.
It is, however, slightly inaccurate to calculate an additional 6 hours each year. A better approximation, derived from the Alfonsine tables, is that the Earth makes a complete revolution around the sun in 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds. As required by the Gregorian calendar, to compensate for the difference, an end-of-century year is not a leap year unless it is also exactly divisible by 400. This means that the years 1600 and 2000 were leap years, as will be 2400 and 2800, but the years 1700, 1800, and 1900 were not, nor will 2100, 2200, and 2300.

What is Leap Day? This is a great explanation from The Telegraph (not written by me):
A leap year, where an extra day is added to the end of February every four years, is down to the solar system's disparity with the Gregorian calendar.
A complete orbit of the earth around the sun takes exactly 365.2422 days to complete, but the Gregorian calendar uses 365 days.
So leap seconds - and leap years - are added as means of keeping our clocks (and calendars) in sync with the Earth and its seasons.
Why does the extra day fall in February?
All the other months in the Julian calendar have 30 or 31 days, but February lost out to the ego of Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus.
Under his predecessor Julius Caesar, Feb had 30 days and the month named after him - July - had 31. August had only 29 days.
When Caesar Augustus became Emperor he added two days to 'his' month to make August the same as July.
So February lost out to August in the battle of the extra days.
Happy Leap Day! February 29 is Leap Day and that means huge savings and deals if you play your cards correctly. Since this Leap Year Day only comes once every four years, retailers capitalize on the momentum with savings.

It only comes around every four years and it can cause people to age very slowly as they wait for their chance to celebrate a birthday.
It's leap year, and it happens according to a unique pattern.
Our Lee Ji-won tells us more about the special day.
"Today is my 6th birthday."
Park Goen-hu is 24 years old, but he's only had six official birthdays... that's because he was born on February 29th.
We know it as Leap Day... and it's a special occasion that only comes around once in every four,... and sometimes eight years.
That's because the Earth doesn't orbit the sun in the 365 days in our calendar year,... but in approximately 365 days and 6 hours.
So the extra six hours are stored up and a full 24 hours is added every four years.
It's also the reason why the four seasons come at the same time every year.
For Leapers, Taiwan, the U.K. and New Zealand, set February 28th as the legal birthday and... March 1st for Hong Kong... but Korea doesn't have any rules regarding February 29th birthdays.
"At times, I celebrate my birthday on February 28th or I wait for a week and celebrate it together with my brother's birthday."
"I celebrate it whenever my family and friends can make it... so sometimes it rolls over to March."
Aside from these rare birthdays, there are some other things that make Leap Day unique.
In the Irish tradition, Leap Day is the only day women can propose marriage because the day was thought to bring good luck... and if men are to reject, they will have to give women silk gowns.
But ironically in Korea and Greece, old sayings tell couples not to get married on Leap Days because they can't get blessing from their ancestors.
"But, regardless of such superstitions, February 29th is an extra day given once in four years... so here's hoping all of you make the most of this special day.

HadesOmega's Leap Day 2016 Touge Ride Part 1 - Quimby Road
I explain it in the beginning of the video but I had planed to go dirt biking for Leap Day 2016 but that didn't happen so I decided I'll go take the ZR7 for a spin on Mount Hamilton. This is the first section I took from Quimby to Mount Hamilton Road, enjoy. Quimby road is a really tightly radius'd mountain road and steep too. This is my first time taking the ZR7 up this direction on Quimby Road.
