For High Summer 2013 Bless’ed Are the Meek’s Senior Designer Maria Maung took inspiration from the ethereal nature of Grecian and Turkish landscapes. Modern architecture was referenced through the silhouettes, whilst intricate embroidery mirrored the traditional arches of Ancient Greek relics. A linear artwork, reminiscent of the tessellation of mosaics and tiling, was integrated as a focal print. Along with the kaleidoscope abstraction of a butterfly, these prints were rendered under a colour palette of bold monochrome, mysterious violets and radiating hues of orange, evocative of the serenity of Mediterranean sunsets.
For Summer Two 2013 Bless’ed Are the Meek’s Senior Designer Maria Maung was inspired by art deco architechture and the art nouveau style of the early 20th Century. The splicing and directional lines of art deco buildings have been reflected in this seasons prints and symmetrical pannelling. Serpents were extremely popular in art nouveau jewellery and design. Maria has interpereted these influences and taken them in a fresh and modern direction for summer with a marine colour palette, sequins, and snake inspired prints and motifs. Below are a few images from the Summer Two 2013 collection moodboard.

Initially inspired by Frederick’s exhibition SALT at the Australian Photographic Centre, Bless’ed are the Meek senior designer Maria took up the challenge to design a collection inspired by the striking and eerie nature of Frederick’s beautiful landscape photography. Playing with the concept of Wanderlust, Maria created a collection referencing the many natural intricacies of Fredrick’s landscapes. Maria managed to take elements such as surreal colouring, empty open spaces and the beauty of cracked desert floors and developed them into a series of stunning Summer pieces with soft pinks, calm blues, striking whites and emerald greens – capturing what it truly means to be consumed by Wanderlust.
