Fork

As a piece of cutlery or kitchenware, a fork is a tool consisting of a handle with several narrow tines on one end. The fork is a primarily Western utensil, whereas in East Asia chopsticks have been more prevalent. Today, forks are increasingly available throughout East Asia. The usually metal utensil is used to lift food to the mouth or to hold ingredients in place while they are being cut by a knife. Food can be lifted either by spearing it on the tines, or by holding it on top of the tines, which are often curved slightly. A fork is shaped in the form of a trident but curved at the joint of the handle to the points.

Early history of forks is obscure, as a kitchen and dining utensil it's generally believed to have originated in the Roman Empire, as proved by archaeological evidences. The personal table fork most likely originated in the Eastern Roman, or Byzantine, Empire. Its use spread to what is now the Middle East during the first millennium CE and then spread into southern Europe during the second millennium. It did not become common in northern Europe until the 18th century and was not common in North America until the 19th century.

FORK-256

FORK-256 is a hash algorithm designed in response to security issues discovered in the earlier SHA-1 and MD5 algorithms. After substantial cryptanalysis, the algorithm is considered broken.

Background

In 2005, Xiaoyun Wang announced an order-collision attack on the government's hash standard SHA-1. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the body responsible for setting cryptographic standards in the United States, concluded this was a practical attack (as previous estimates were order-) and began encouraging additional research into hash functions and their weaknesses. As part of this effort, NIST hosted two workshops where potential new algorithms, including FORK-256, were introduced and discussed. Rather than immediately select any of these algorithms, NIST conducted a public competition from 2007–2012 which ultimately resulted in the Keccak algorithm being selected for use as the SHA-3 standard.

Algorithm and Analysis

FORK-256 was introduced at the 2005 NIST Hash workshop and published the following year. FORK-256 uses 512-bit blocks and implements preset constants that change after each repetition. Each block is hashed into a 256-bit block through four branches that divides each 512 block into sixteen 32-bit words that are further encrypted and rearranged.

Spoon (Dave Matthews Band song)

"Spoon" is a Dave Matthews Band song from the album Before These Crowded Streets. The song is thought to describe the thoughts of Christ as he is pinned to the crucifix. Throughout the song, Christ contemplates such ideas as whether the human race is worth "saving" and whether his father is God, as he ponders his own existence. Dave Matthews used Peter Gabriel's song "The Passion" as an inspiration for this song.

The song features Alanis Morissette on background vocals and one verse, and Béla Fleck on the banjo. A 1:30 reprise to "The Last Stop" is featured as a hidden track following a minute of silence after the song.

"Spoon" has been performed live as early as 1997, where it was played acoustically as a solo by Dave Matthews, or an acoustic duet with Tim Reynolds. The song debuted live by the band in the summer of 1998; however, drummer Carter Beauford did not perform as he was bothered by a large amount of crickets crawling around the stage. The song was only played two more times that year by the band, and then a handful of times more the following year during acoustic shows by Matthews and Reynolds.

Spoon (liturgy)

The Spoon (Greek: Κοχλιάριον, Kochliárion; Slavonic: Лжица, Lzhítza) is a liturgical implement used to distribute Holy Communion to the laity during the Divine Liturgy of the Eastern Orthodox Church and those Eastern Catholic Churches which follow the Byzantine Rite. It is also called a cochlear, Latin for "spoon".

In the Early Church everyone, clergy and laity alike, received Holy Communion in the same manner: receiving the consecrated Body of Christ (in the form of bread) in their hands and then placing it in their own mouth, and sipping directly from the chalice. In time, concern over the danger of crumbs being accidentally dropped on the floor or some of the consecrated Blood of Christ (in the form of wine) being spilt, lead to the use of tongs, with which the elements were mingled together and placed carefully into the mouths of the communicants. By the 9th century, the Church began to use the Communion spoon for the same practical reasons, and it is this practice that remains in place today (though the clergy still receive in the ancient manner as they stand at the Holy Table).

Marius Iancu better known by his stage name Morris (born in Roman, Romania on 9 September 1976) is a Romanian singer and DJ specializing in pop music, house and electro sounds. He is signed to the Romanian Roton record label.

Career

Marius Iancu picked the name Morris in school where there were "too many Mariuses". He started acting and taking drama studies at Facultatii de Teatru and continued into working in commercials, television series and films. His interest in music led him to appear as DJ and singer in various night venues in Bucharest and elsewhere, also taking part in music contests and music festivals.

In 2008, he started collaborating with the Romanian music producing trio Play & Win most notably with his big hit in Romania "Till the Morning Light" in 2008 and "Desire" in 2009 that became a hit not only in Romania, but also in Russia, Poland and Spain. He also collaborated with and gained further fame with his European hit "Havana Lover" featuring Sonny Flame in 2009 and with "Angel Eyes" with David Deejay in 2010.
