COGASM is a side project of singer Robert Smith of The Cure, drummer Jason Cooper and guitarist Reeves Gabrels. The first two letters of the members' surnames were taken to form the group's name, which is properly spelled with all capital letters. The band was put together for the one-time purpose of creating a song for the soundtrack to the movie Orgazmo.
The single, "A Sign From God," appeared on the Orgazmo soundtrack, 1998. The song "Wrong Number" was recorded in the same session by the same formation, but instead credited to "The Cure" and released on the band's greatest hits Galore.
Jason Toop Cooper (born 31 January 1967 in London, England) is an English musician best known for his work with The Cure.
Jason studied drums at London's Drumtech (where he is now a patron and visiting artist). He first came to public attention as drummer for the band My Life Story. Jason joined The Cure in 1995 following the 1993 departure of their previous drummer Boris Williams. So far, he has performed on the studio albums Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, The Cure and 4:13 Dream. He also appeared in two concert films, Trilogy and Festival 2005.
Jason also composes music for film, most notably co-creating the score for the horror/thriller From Within, for which he and co-composer Oliver Kraus won the award for Best Original Score at the 2008 Solstice Film Festival.
On 15 May 2004, Jason married his long-time girlfriend Allison.
Reeves Gabrels (born June 4, 1956) is an American guitarist, "one of the most daring rock-guitar improvisers since Jimi Hendrix - a fact that most players learned during his dozen years collaborating with David Bowie." Best known for his long partnership with British singer David Bowie, with whom he worked regularly from 1987 to 1999, Gabrels also built an active performing and recording career before, during and since, working both independently and in collaboration with musicians worldwide. He has lived in New York, Boston, London and Los Angeles, and since 2006 he has been based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Gabrels' songs and improvisations defy genre, ranging from "hard-hitting blues rock to 21st century electronica," to quote Guitar World's characterization of Ulysses, an album from 2000. He is recognized for virtuosity and versatility, a guitar player who can "explore sonic extremes with a great, adaptive intuition for what each song needs most."
Reeves Gabrels was born in Staten Island, New York in June 1956. His mother was a typist and his father worked on tugboats in New York Harbor. Gabrels started playing guitar at age 13, and the following year (1971) his father arranged for lessons with the father's friend and contemporary Turk Van Lake, who lived in the neighborhood. Van Lake (1918–2002) was a professional musician who had played with Benny Goodman and others.
Simon Jonathon Gallup (born 1 June 1960 in Duxhurst, Surrey) is an English musician and bassist of the post-punk band The Cure.
Simon is the youngest of six children born to Bob and Peg Gallup. His siblings are Stuart, David, Duncan, Monica, and Ric. After moving to Horley, Surrey in 1961 he attended Horley Infants and Junior Schools between 1961 and 1975, followed by Horley Balcombe Road Comprehensive from 1971-1976. Between 1976 and 1978 he worked in a plastics factory and became the bass player for local punk band Lockjaw, who later evolved into The Magazine Spies (1979-1980), also known as The Mag/Spys. Lockjaw and The Mag/Spys played regular live shows with Easy Cure and later The Cure between 1977 and 1979, and after collaborating in the studio on the Cult Hero recording sessions in October 1979, both Gallup and keyboardist Matthieu Hartley left The Mag/Spys to join The Cure. Former Mag/Spys Gallup, Hartley and Stuart Curran later performed together under the name of The Cry and later Fools Dance during Gallup’s hiatus from The Cure between 1982 and 1984.
Jason Aeron Walter David (born June 12, 1982) is an American football cornerback and is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Washington State.
David has also played for the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions.
David grew up in Covina, California and attended Charter Oak High School before attending Washington State University on a football scholarship and majoring in communications. Jason went on to be a three-year letterman at Washington State. He was teammates with fellow cornerback Marcus Trufant and wide receiver Devard Darling.[citation needed]
Jason David married Kristel Charlene in February their wedding video is featured on Platinum Weddings.
David was a fourth round draft pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2004. In 2004, he had 52 total tackles, 4 interceptions, and one forced fumble. He also won a Super Bowl with the Colts in 2006 as a starter.
On April 18, 2007, David signed a 4-year offer sheet with the New Orleans Saints that the Colts had 7 days to match. Indianapolis declined to match New Orleans' offer, and was awarded the Saints' 4th round draft pick as compensation. His lowlight of his tenure with the Saints was giving up a touchdown to Peyton Manning on the Opening Day game when the Saints played David's former team, the defending champion Indianapolis Colts in 2007.
There's no need for the servant
There's no scene, no queen
This must be less then meant
The most pityful ever seen
I guess he misses the sunshine
For Venus he wrote a line:
"I don't mind waiting a lifetime
Even if it's gambling with time
I could dare the waiting elsewhere
Love could be the future we share"
He used to waste opportunities
Get some suicidal tendencies
All his life he's been seeking
For his passing love affair, he sang:
"I don't mind waiting a lifetime
Even if it's gambling with time
I could dare the waiting elsewhere
Love could be the future we share"
Now he's sliding to the skies
White, unlimited in his eyes
No one heard of the one man band
A red carpet to the lucky land
I don't mind waiting a lifetime
Even if it's gambling with time
I could dare the waiting elsewhere
Love could be the future we share
I'll find another space
Now, now the sweat
is streaming down our bodies
A cigarette, I can't forget the taste
The Oriental journeys
The sky, the light and it should ever last
We are so tight, indecision grows so fast
Saturday, saturday night
you saved me for one more kiss, oh please
Do not play this kind of fight
the die is cast but today, and tonight
Tonight it's bright and it should ever last
No cry, alright, sure no heart attack
We are so tight, indecision grows fast
Now, now I've found
another way to go, to flow
I, I should have known
Love is on its own
The sky, the light but it's a piece of past
We were so tight, dreams they do run fast
And now, the cost: communication's lost
Communication's lost
Communication's lost
It's a calm night, a lonely night
You restless at home
and you wander where's he tonight
as you drink wine alone
You brush your teeth and wash your face and lay down
You toss and turn and wait all night for sleep to come
Turn on the light and read about another life
The sun is high and the rest of the world is awake now
And you wander if he was mine
will it be right, will he feel right
oooh if he was mine, if he was mine
but he's not mine, no, he's not mine
So brush your teeth and wash your face and lay down
You toss and turn and wait all night for sleep to come
Turn on the light and read about another life
There may be trouble ahead
But while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Before the fiddlers have fled
Before they ask us to pay the bill
And while we still have the chance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon, we'll be without the moon
Humming a different tune and then
There may be tear drops to shed
So while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon, we'll be without the moon
Humming a different tune and then
There may be tear drops to shed
So while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
