Hivos open contracting programme launched

Today is Open Data Day. As part of the Open Data movement, the opening up of contracts offers a revolution in public procurement. An estimated US$ 9.5 trillion is spent by governments in deals with business. If done more openly, efficiently and effectively, governments could save budgets otherwise wasted.

10,000 more biogas plants to be installed in Tanzania

Following the implementation of 12,000 bio-digesters that benefitted more than 70,000 Tanzanian people, the Tanzania Domestic Biogas Programme (TDBP) has just received good news that it will continue to install 10,000 more biogas plants over a two-year period (2016-2017) with support from Tanzania’s Rural Energy Agency (REA).The contribution amounts to approximately USD 1.6 millio
