Carbon dioxide occupies a 2.54 L container at STP. What will be the volume when the pressure is 150 kPa and 26oC?
The pressure of 8.40 L of nitrogen gas is decreased to one-half its original pressure, and its temperature is doubled. What is the new volume?
Helium in a sealed syringe is compressed to a volume of 13 L. Its original volume was 21 L at 542 torr. Find the new pressure in torr.
A sample of oxygen occupies a volume of 150. L at 89.0° C. What will be the volume of oxygen when the temperature drops to 0.00° C?

An extended preview of a film constructed from 150,000 photographs that combines time lapse footage of riots, optical illusion paintings and stars. Modern Ruin is a contemplation of the idea that creation and destruction is the same thing. In the same way that you, life itself and even the laws of the universe are deeply paradoxical, so too are the realities pieced together to form this non-reality.
Every event depicted in Modern Ruin happened in naked reality, from the riots, to the optical-illusion paintings.

Riots – I would like to be clear that the riots in this film, which began right outside my front door, were set in motion when the Anaheim police department shot and killed an unarmed man last summer. When the residents of my neighborhood began protesting they showed up and shot into the crowd with rubber bullets, threw tear gas and released a K9 unit, which mauled one man’s arm. They would later say that releasing the dog was accidental. There’s quite a bit more to the story obviously, but I want to make sure that it’s well understood that the footage in this film is not meant to be consumed as a factual news item. It’s definitely taken out of the context of reality and used in another. It’s making art out of news.

Combined gas law
The combined gas law is a gas law that combines Charles's law, Boyle's law, and Gay-Lussac's law. There is no official founder for this law; it is merely an amalgamation of the three previously discovered laws. These laws each relate one thermodynamic variable to another mathematically while holding everything else constant. Charles's law states that volume and temperature are directly proportional to each other as long as pressure is held constant. Boyle's law asserts that pressure and volume are inversely proportional to each other at fixed temperature. Finally, Gay-Lussac's law introduces a direct proportionality between temperature and pressure as long as it is at a constant volume. The inter-dependence of these variables is shown in the combined gas law, which clearly states that:

Henry Cole
Sir Henry Cole (15 July 1808 – 18 April 1882) was an English civil servant and inventor who facilitated many innovations in commerce and education in 19th century Britain. Cole is credited with devising the concept of sending greetings cards at Christmas time, introducing the world's first commercial Christmas card in 1843.
Biography
Henry Cole was born in Bath, and educated at Christ's Hospital in London. He began his career at the age of 15 at the Record Commission. His criticisms of the Commission's activities were an important factor in the debates that led to the Public Record Office Act 1838, and the establishment of the new Public Record Office, in which Cole was appointed an Assistant Keeper.
From 1837 to 1840, he worked as an assistant to Rowland Hill and played a key role in the introduction of the Penny Post. He is sometimes credited with the design of the world's first postage stamp, the Penny Black.
In 1843, Cole introduced the world's first commercial Christmas card, commissioning artist John Callcott Horsley to make the artwork.

Gas
Gas is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, liquid, and plasma). A pure gas may be made up of individual atoms (e.g. a noble gas like neon), elemental molecules made from one type of atom (e.g. oxygen), or compound molecules made from a variety of atoms (e.g. carbon dioxide). A gas mixture would contain a variety of pure gases much like the air. What distinguishes a gas from liquids and solids is the vast separation of the individual gas particles. This separation usually makes a colorless gas invisible to the human observer. The interaction of gas particles in the presence of electric and gravitational fields are considered negligible as indicated by the constant velocity vectors in the image. One type of commonly known gas is steam.
The gaseous state of matter is found between the liquid and plasma states, the latter of which provides the upper temperature boundary for gases. Bounding the lower end of the temperature scale lie degenerative quantum gases which are gaining increasing attention. High-density atomic gases super cooled to incredibly low temperatures are classified by their statistical behavior as either a Bose gas or a Fermi gas. South Kensington is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London. It is a built-up area 2.4 miles (3.9 km) west- south-west of Charing Cross. It has become the epicentre of the rapidly growing French community in London.
Geography
It is hard to define boundaries for South Kensington, but a common definition is the commercial area around the tube station and the adjacent garden squares and streets (such as Thurloe Square, opposite the Victoria and Albert Museum). The smaller neighbourhood around Gloucester Road tube station can also be considered a part, and Albertopolis around Exhibition Road, which includes the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Baden-Powell House. Other institutions such as the Royal Albert Hall, Imperial College London, the Royal Geographical Society, the Royal College of Art, the Royal College of Music are within the City of Westminster, but considered to be in South Kensington. Although the postcode SW7 mainly covers South Kensington, some parts of Knightsbridge are also covered.

Contents 1. Ice Brain, 2011. Cyclical Installation. Ice Brain is a salvaged commercial refrigeration unit with copper coils attached and charged with freon gas. The brain like form goes through a life cycle every time the compressor beneath is turned on. When the coils begin to cool they pull moisture from the air and build up condensation that then freezes into sparkly ice crystals. The ice will continue to grow until the refrigeration unit is no longer able to insulate any new layers. Size and growth rate are directly linked to the temperature and humidity of the environment. 2. Influence Machines, 2011. electrostatic generators, or "influence machines" interact with visitors and dielectric materials installed in the gallery. Materials: Acrylic, aluminum, dielectric materials. An electrostatic generator, or electrostatic machine, is a mechanical device that produces static electricity, or electricity at high voltage and low continuous current. Electrostatic generators operate by using manual (or other) power to transform mechanical work into electric energy. They develop electrostatic charges of opposite signs rendered to two conductors, using only electric forces. They work by using moving plates, drums, or belts to carry electric charge to a high potential electrode. In this case he charge is generated electrostatic induction. 3. Role Reversal, 2002. Cyclical Installation. The fabric portion of the piece is made from recycled clothing re-arranged to resemble an invertebrate organism. When the on button is pressed the embedded squirrel cage blowers in either end of the piece alternate switching on and off causing the fabric form to be blown back and forth taking on a different inflated shape in each direction it turns inside out. 4. Pop Up Portraits, 2005. Interactive installation. Two medium format stadium projectors light two blank pop up books with photographic portraits of two friends. The viewer/participant can then turn the pages and play with the way the image hits the folded paper. As the pages are turned the mouth moves and the face and eyes are distorted in a disturbing yet comical way. 5. The Red Machine, 2004. Interactive cyclical machine. This piece was inspired by the physical sensation of working with ceramic clay slip while wearing rubber gloves. The sensation of the pressure on the hand as the water and loose particulates moved around my hand led to this interactive machine. The tag sewn into the upholstery gives instruction for operation. When the hand is inserted into the glove, and the participant locates the on switch, the cycle begins. Water is pumped up from a tank below and pressurizes an inter tube placed around the arm and holds the hand in place while water jets spray at high pressure onto the glove from all angles. When the water is used up, the tank is empty and the pump turns off, releasing the arm of the participant. 6. Ephemerisle Lights, 2009. Floating solar light installation. The law requires that boaters light their vessels at night for safety reasons. These floating solar light sculptures were designed to light up the Seasteading Institute's first annual Ephemerisle festival as well as pay tribute to the local ecosystems of the Sacramento River Delta. As water hyacinths grow from the muddy waters of the delta temporary floating communities also grew to flourish on the water in October, 2009. 7. The Sleepers, 2004. Mechanical installation. Hidden blowers inside the wall alternate to push quick puffs of air to the resting fabric forms. Each rayon shape inhales sharply then slowly releases it's breath. The two cloth bags lie together, inflating and deflating at their own individual rates. This piece is a contemplation investigating commonalities and companionship among living beings. 8. The Zooids, 2002. Mechanical installation. The forms in this series are made from recycled human clothing, animated with air, and made to mimic microscopic life. Though their movements are completely random, the observer can imaging that the pieces are interacting with each other and exhibiting life like personalities. Zooids are are often part of a community that functions as a whole rather than as individual beings. The 1913 version of Webster's Dictionary defines a zooid as "An organic body or cell having locomotion." or "An animal in one of its inferior stages of development." 9. Pneuma, 2001. Motion activated installation. The term Pneuma is an ancient greek word for “breath of life” providing locomotion both of the body and the spirit. The entrance of gallery visitors triggers a motion sensor on each of the individual boxes, turning on the blowers and inflating and animating whimsical collages of discarded garments. An extended preview of a film constructed from 150,000 photographs that combines time lapse footage of riots, optical illusion paintings and stars. Modern Ruin is a contemplation of the idea that creation and destruction is the same thing. In the same way that you, life itself and even the laws of the universe are deeply paradoxical, so too are the realities pieced together to form this non-reality.
Every event depicted in Modern Ruin happened in naked reality, from the riots, to the optical-illusion paintings.

Riots – I would like to be clear that the riots in this film, which began right outside my front door, were set in motion when the Anaheim police department shot and killed an unarmed man last summer. When the residents of my neighborhood began protesting they showed up and shot into the crowd with rubber bullets, threw tear gas and released a K9 unit, which mauled one man’s arm. They would later say that releasing the dog was accidental. There’s quite a bit more to the story obviously, but I want to make sure that it’s well understood that the footage in this film is not meant to be consumed as a factual news item. It’s definitely taken out of the context of reality and used in another. It’s making art out of news.

1. Ice Brain, 2011. Cyclical Installation. Ice Brain is a salvaged commercial refrigeration unit with copper coils attached and charged with freon gas. The brain like form goes through a life cycle every time the compressor beneath is turned on. When the coils begin to cool they pull moisture from the air and build up condensation that then freezes into sparkly ice crystals. The ice will continue to grow until the refrigeration unit is no longer able to insulate any new layers. Size and growth rate are directly linked to the temperature and humidity of the environment.
2. Influence Machines, 2011. electrostatic generators, or "influence machines" interact with visitors and dielectric materials installed in the gallery. Materials: Acrylic, aluminum, dielectric materials. An electrostatic generator, or electrostatic machine, is a mechanical device that produces static electricity, or electricity at high voltage and low continuous current. Electrostatic generators operate by using manual (or other) power to transform mechanical work into electric energy. They develop electrostatic charges of opposite signs rendered to two conductors, using only electric forces. They work by using moving plates, drums, or belts to carry electric charge to a high potential electrode. In this case he charge is generated electrostatic induction.
3. Role Reversal, 2002. Cyclical Installation. The fabric portion of the piece is made from recycled clothing re-arranged to resemble an invertebrate organism. When the on button is pressed the embedded squirrel cage blowers in either end of the piece alternate switching on and off causing the fabric form to be blown back and forth taking on a different inflated shape in each direction it turns inside out.
4. Pop Up Portraits, 2005. Interactive installation. Two medium format stadium projectors light two blank pop up books with photographic portraits of two friends. The viewer/participant can then turn the pages and play with the way the image hits the folded paper. As the pages are turned the mouth moves and the face and eyes are distorted in a disturbing yet comical way.
5. The Red Machine, 2004. Interactive cyclical machine. This piece was inspired by the physical sensation of working with ceramic clay slip while wearing rubber gloves. The sensation of the pressure on the hand as the water and loose particulates moved around my hand led to this interactive machine. The tag sewn into the upholstery gives instruction for operation. When the hand is inserted into the glove, and the participant locates the on switch, the cycle begins. Water is pumped up from a tank below and pressurizes an inter tube placed around the arm and holds the hand in place while water jets spray at high pressure onto the glove from all angles. When the water is used up, the tank is empty and the pump turns off, releasing the arm of the participant.
6. Ephemerisle Lights, 2009. Floating solar light installation. The law requires that boaters light their vessels at night for safety reasons. These floating solar light sculptures were designed to light up the Seasteading Institute's first annual Ephemerisle festival as well as pay tribute to the local ecosystems of the Sacramento River Delta. As water hyacinths grow from the muddy waters of the delta temporary floating communities also grew to flourish on the water in October, 2009.
7. The Sleepers, 2004. Mechanical installation. Hidden blowers inside the wall alternate to push quick puffs of air to the resting fabric forms. Each rayon shape inhales sharply then slowly releases it's breath. The two cloth bags lie together, inflating and deflating at their own individual rates. This piece is a contemplation investigating commonalities and companionship among living beings.
8. The Zooids, 2002. Mechanical installation. The forms in this series are made from recycled human clothing, animated with air, and made to mimic microscopic life. Though their movements are completely random, the observer can imaging that the pieces are interacting with each other and exhibiting life like personalities. Zooids are are often part of a community that functions as a whole rather than as individual beings. The 1913 version of Webster's Dictionary defines a zooid as "An organic body or cell having locomotion." or "An animal in one of its inferior stages of development."
9. Pneuma, 2001. Motion activated installation. The term Pneuma is an ancient greek word for “breath of life” providing locomotion both of the body and the spirit. The entrance of gallery visitors triggers a motion sensor on each of the individual boxes, turning on the blowers and inflating and animating whimsical collages of discarded garments. The clothing for this installation was gathered from the street after what looked like an illegal dumping or evicti

Yes. You heard what I said. All of it. It's all a bunch of lies. I know that it is a shocking claim to many, that our trusted officials in concert with our reliable mass media actually participated in deliberate deception designed to get us to accept war, but deal with it. I'm making it.
Our biggest moral obligation is ensuring that wars are not waged against people under false pretenses. War is the most disgusting and horrible thing you can inflict on any person.
As you read this article I am sure you will find there are a number of things that will surprise you. After researching the situation for months I assure you I have investigated as many sides of the story as possible. But I did reach a clear conclusion and I will not shy away from openly expressing the views that I have formed during this process.
What we have been seeing recently in the media, this time with a special emphasis on the online community, is the most sophisticated propaganda firework display we have ever witnessed. It’s no surprise so many people have been duped.
But a lie can travel the world before the truth has tied it’s shoe laces. But I believe that once the laces have been tied and the truth starts walking, eventually it’s gonna get to people.
There are at least two sides to every story
None of us could possibly have avoided hearing NATO’s side of the story and the reasons and justifications given for Gaddafi’s removal and how military intervention is necessary to protect Libyan citizens.
But are you sure you’ve heard both sides? Have you heard Gaddafi’s perspective on this issue? Or have you just heard “his side” as represented by the mainstream western media? If so I can start by telling you that his words, and the words of his son, Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi have been deliberately misinterpreted and edited out of context to create simple soundbite propaganda to influence people.
You will find that there is a completely different side of this story that is being completely ignored. It is not even being debated for it's merits, it simply is not talked about at all in the mainstream media.
Think about it. How much do you really know about Libya? Did you in all honesty know anything about the country before these events started unfolding? If I would have asked you back in February 10 questions about Libya and it’s affairs, how many do you think you would have answered correctly? And how much do you honestly know about what is going on there now?
I often find it intriguing how people tend to think they are qualified to give their view on things that in reality they know next to nothing about. They might have vague ideas generated by the mainstream media, biased textbooks and general pre-conceived notions, but not an actual thorough understanding of the country and it’s people and customs.
I had a discussion with a guy at a local bar the other day and I began the conversation by asking if he could tell me on what continent Libya was. Neither he nor his friend could answer correctly, picking Europe and Asia as their educated guesses. For some reason this guy still felt that his take on the situation was more accurate than mine, even as I told him I had been spending weeks investigating the matter. For those of you confused the correct answer is Africa.
I want to ask a simple question to make a simple case? Can you name me one current Libyan government official? You’re not allowed to say Gaddafi. Who holds the position of “Secretary of the General People’s Assembly” a position comparable to that of prime minister, although with a slightly different emphasis as he does not represent a political party and does not alone hold significant power. Did you even know that such a position exists in Libya and that he is elected by the people?
The less you know about something, the easier it is to deceive you.
My intention for exposing your potential and likely ignorance on this subject is not an attempt to show that I’m smarter or better than you. As I found out myself researching this article I knew remarkably little about Libya. And that is my point.
The mainstream media is focusing entirely on a set of news stories that have the specific intention of gathering support for military action and actively suppressing any story that would lead to people opposing it. This pattern will be exposed clearly as this article progresses.
It’s no wonder we don’t know much about Libya. Of course it gets confusing with all the different stories we hear of dictators and tyrants oversees. It is difficult to be an expert on all nations in the world. Just consider how many nations have existed and how long and rich each of their history is and how complex and

My intention for exposing your potential and likely ignorance on this subject is not an attempt to show that I’m smarter or better than you. As I found out myself researching this article I knew remarkably little about Libya. And that is my point.
The mainstream media is focusing entirely on a set of news stories that have the specific intention of gathering support for military action and actively suppressing any story that would lead to people opposing it. This pattern will be exposed clearly as this article progresses.
It’s no wonder we don’t know much about Libya. Of course it gets confusing with all the different stories we hear of dictators and tyrants oversees. The inaugural Henry Cole Lecture, held at the V&A; Museum in London on 30 October 2008. The purpose of the lecture is to celebrate the legacy of the Museum’s founding director, and explore its implications for museums, culture and society today.
The lecture, entitled 'We Must Have Steam: Get Cole! Henry Cole, the Chamber of Horrors, and the Educational Role of the Museum' was delivered by Professor Sir Christopher Frayling. He presented new research on the “chamber of horrors” (a contemporary nickname for one of the V&A;'s earliest galleries, 'Decorations on False Principles', that opened in 1852) and the myths and realities of its reception, then opened up a wider debate on design education and museums from the nineteenth century to the present day.

Mark Jones: The annual Henry Cole lecture has been initiated to celebrate Henry Cole's legacy and to explore the contribution that culture can make to education and society today. It has also been launched to celebrate the opening of the Sackler Centre for arts education, including the Hochhauser Auditorium in which we sit tonight. There could be no one better than Professor Sir Christopher Frayling to give the inaugural Henry Cole Lecture. Christopher is a rare being: an intellectual who is a great communicator; a theorist who has a firm grip on the practical realities of life: a writer who truly and instinctively understands the words of making design and visual communication. As an enormously successful and respected Rector of the Royal College of Art, as Chairman of the Arts Council, and as a member and chair of boards too numerous to mention - but not forgetting the Royal Mint Advisory Committee which has recently been responsible for redesigning the coinage (personal interest) and as by far the longest-serving Trustee of the V&A;, he brings together culture, education and public service in a way which Henry Cole would have approved and admired. So it's more than fitting that he should be giving this first Henry Cole Lecture, 'We Must Have Steam: Get Cole! Henry Cole, the Chamber of Horrors, and the Educational Role of the Museum'.

Thank you very much indeed Mark and thank you very much for inviting me to give this first Henry Cole Lecture. Just how much of an honour it is for me will I hope become clear as the lecture progresses.
Mark, Chairpeople, ladies and gentlemen:
Hidden away in the garden of the South Kensington Museum - now the Madejski Garden of the V&A; - there is a small and easily overlooked commemorative plaque that doesn't have a museum number. It reads: 'In Memory of Jim Died 1879 Aged 15 Years, Faithful Dog of Sir Henry Cole of this Museum'. Jim had in fact died on 30 January 1879. He was with Henry Cole in his heyday, as the king of South Kensington - its museums and colleges - and saw him through to retirement from the public service and beyond. And next to this inscription there's another one dedicated to Jim's successor, Tycho, and dated 1885. The dogs are actually buried in the garden. Now we know from Henry Cole's diary that between 1864 and 1879 Jim, who was a cairn terrier, was often to be seen in public at his master's side. In 1864 they were together inspecting the new memorial to the Great Exhibition of 1851 just behind the Albert Hall - a statue of Prince Albert by Joseph Durham on a lofty plinth covered in statistics about the income, expenditure and visitor numbers to the Great Exhibition: 6,039,195 to be exact. Cole had been a tireless champion of Prince Albert and according to the Princess Royal (later Empress of Prussia) there was a family saying in Buckingham Palace at the time, invented by Albert himself, that when things needed doing 'when we want steam we must get Cole'. We may therefore assume that when looking at the memorial, Cole was interested in the inscription, the statistics and the likeness of Prince Albert, while Jim was more interested in the possibilities of the plinth. In early 1866 - these are five studies of Jim, an etching by Henry Cole himself of 1864. In early 1866, first thing in the morning, soon after the workmen's bell had rung, Henry and Jim would set forth together from Cole's newly constructed official residence in the Museum (where he moved in July 1863) to tour the building sites of South Kensington - a name which was first invented by Cole when he re-named the museum The South Kensington Museum to describe the new developments happening around Brompton Church. According to 'The Builder' magazine, these two well-known figures would 'be seen clambering over bricks, mortar and girders up ladders and about scaffolding'. Several buildings in the South Kensington Renaissance Revival style were springing up all around them: The Natural History Museum, The College of Science, the extension to this Museum. And on the morning the Bethnal Green Museum opened - 24 June 1872 - Jim showed a healthy distaste for his master's well-known predilection for pomp and

An extended preview of a film constructed from 150,000 photographs that combines time lapse footage of riots, optical illusion paintings and stars. Modern Ruin is a contemplation of the idea that creation and destruction is the same thing. In the same way that you, life itself and even the laws of the universe are deeply paradoxical, so too are the realities pieced together to form this non-reality.
Every event depicted in Modern Ruin happened in naked reality, from the riots, to the optical-illusion paintings.

Riots – I would like to be clear that the riots in this film, which began right outside my front door, were set in motion when the Anaheim police department shot and killed an unarmed man last summer. When the residents of my neighborhood began protesting they showed up and shot into the crowd with rubber bullets, threw tear gas and released a K9 unit, which mauled one man’s arm. They would later say that releasing the dog was accidental. There’s quite a bit more to the story obviously, but I want to make sure that it’s well understood that the footage in this film is not meant to be consumed as a factual news item. It’s definitely taken out of the context of reality and used in another. It’s making art out of news.

1. Ice Brain, 2011. Cyclical Installation. Ice Brain is a salvaged commercial refrigeration unit with copper coils attached and charged with freon gas. The brain like form goes through a life cycle every time the compressor beneath is turned on. When the coils begin to cool they pull moisture from the air and build up condensation that then freezes into sparkly ice crystals. The ice will continue to grow until the refrigeration unit is no longer able to insulate any new layers. Size and growth rate are directly linked to the temperature and humidity of the environment.
2. Influence Machines, 2011. electrostatic generators, or "influence machines" interact with visitors and dielectric materials installed in the gallery. Materials: Acrylic, aluminum, dielectric materials. An electrostatic generator, or electrostatic machine, is a mechanical device that produces static electricity, or electricity at high voltage and low continuous current. Electrostatic generators operate by using manual (or other) power to transform mechanical work into electric energy. They develop electrostatic charges of opposite signs rendered to two conductors, using only electric forces. They work by using moving plates, drums, or belts to carry electric charge to a high potential electrode. In this case he charge is generated electrostatic induction.
3. Role Reversal, 2002. Cyclical Installation. The fabric portion of the piece is made from recycled clothing re-arranged to resemble an invertebrate organism. When the on button is pressed the embedded squirrel cage blowers in either end of the piece alternate switching on and off causing the fabric form to be blown back and forth taking on a different inflated shape in each direction it turns inside out.
4. Pop Up Portraits, 2005. Interactive installation. Two medium format stadium projectors light two blank pop up books with photographic portraits of two friends. The viewer/participant can then turn the pages and play with the way the image hits the folded paper. As the pages are turned the mouth moves and the face and eyes are distorted in a disturbing yet comical way.
5. The Red Machine, 2004. Interactive cyclical machine. This piece was inspired by the physical sensation of working with ceramic clay slip while wearing rubber gloves. The sensation of the pressure on the hand as the water and loose particulates moved around my hand led to this interactive machine. The tag sewn into the upholstery gives instruction for operation. When the hand is inserted into the glove, and the participant locates the on switch, the cycle begins. Water is pumped up from a tank below and pressurizes an inter tube placed around the arm and holds the hand in place while water jets spray at high pressure onto the glove from all angles. When the water is used up, the tank is empty and the pump turns off, releasing the arm of the participant.
6. Ephemerisle Lights, 2009. Floating solar light installation. The law requires that boaters light their vessels at night for safety reasons. These floating solar light sculptures were designed to light up the Seasteading Institute's first annual Ephemerisle festival as well as pay tribute to the local ecosystems of the Sacramento River Delta. As water hyacinths grow from the muddy waters of the delta temporary floating communities also grew to flourish on the water in October, 2009.
7. The Sleepers, 2004. Mechanical installation. Hidden blowers inside the wall alternate to push quick puffs of air to the resting fabric forms. Each rayon shape inhales sharply then slowly releases it's breath. The two cloth bags lie together, inflating and deflating at their own individual rates. This piece is a contemplation investigating commonalities and companionship among living beings.
8. The Zooids, 2002. Mechanical installation. The forms in this series are made from recycled human clothing, animated with air, and made to mimic microscopic life. Though their movements are completely random, the observer can imaging that the pieces are interacting with each other and exhibiting life like personalities. Zooids are are often part of a community that functions as a whole rather than as individual beings. The 1913 version of Webster's Dictionary defines a zooid as "An organic body or cell having locomotion." or "An animal in one of its inferior stages of development."
9. Pneuma, 2001. Motion activated installation. The term Pneuma is an ancient greek word for “breath of life” providing locomotion both of the body and the spirit. The entrance of gallery visitors triggers a motion sensor on each of the individual boxes, turning on the blowers and inflating and animating whimsical collages of discarded garments. The clothing for this installation was gathered from the street after what looked like an illegal dumping or evicti

Yes. You heard what I said. All of it. It's all a bunch of lies. I know that it is a shocking claim to many, that our trusted officials in concert with our reliable mass media actually participated in deliberate deception designed to get us to accept war, but deal with it. I'm making it.
Our biggest moral obligation is ensuring that wars are not waged against people under false pretenses. War is the most disgusting and horrible thing you can inflict on any person.
As you read this article I am sure you will find there are a number of things that will surprise you. After researching the situation for months I assure you I have investigated as many sides of the story as possible. But I did reach a clear conclusion and I will not shy away from openly expressing the views that I have formed during this process.
What we have been seeing recently in the media, this time with a special emphasis on the online community, is the most sophisticated propaganda firework display we have ever witnessed. It’s no surprise so many people have been duped.
But a lie can travel the world before the truth has tied it’s shoe laces. But I believe that once the laces have been tied and the truth starts walking, eventually it’s gonna get to people.
There are at least two sides to every story
None of us could possibly have avoided hearing NATO’s side of the story and the reasons and justifications given for Gaddafi’s removal and how military intervention is necessary to protect Libyan citizens.
But are you sure you’ve heard both sides? Have you heard Gaddafi’s perspective on this issue? Or have you just heard “his side” as represented by the mainstream western media? Did you even know that such a position exists in Libya and that he is elected by the people?
The less you know about something, the easier it is to deceive you.
My intention for exposing your potential and likely ignorance on this subject is not an attempt to show that I’m smarter or better than you. As I found out myself researching this article I knew remarkably little about Libya. And that is my point.

Yes. You heard what I said. All of it. It's all a bunch of lies. I know that it is a shocking claim to many, that our trusted officials in concert with our reliable mass media actually participated in deliberate deception designed to get us to accept war, but deal with it. I'm making it.
Our biggest moral obligation is ensuring that wars are not waged against people under false pretenses. War is the most disgusting and horrible thing you can inflict on any person.
As you read this article I am sure you will find there are a number of things that will surprise you. After researching the situation for months I assure you I have investigated as many sides of the story as possible. But I did reach a clear conclusion and I will not shy away from openly expressing the views that I have formed during this process.
What we have been seeing recently in the media, this time with a special emphasis on the online community, is the most sophisticated propaganda firework display we have ever witnessed. It’s no surprise so many people have been duped.
But a lie can travel the world before the truth has tied it’s shoe laces. But I believe that once the laces have been tied and the truth starts walking, eventually it’s gonna get to people.
There are at least two sides to every story
None of us could possibly have avoided hearing NATO’s side of the story and the reasons and justifications given for Gaddafi’s removal and how military intervention is necessary to protect Libyan citizens.
But are you sure you’ve heard both sides? Have you heard Gaddafi’s perspective on this issue? Or have you just heard “his side” as represented by the mainstream western media? The lecture, entitled 'We Must Have Steam: Get Cole! Henry Cole, the Chamber of Horrors, and the Educational Role of the Museum' was delivered by Professor Sir Christopher Frayling. He presented new research on the “chamber of horrors” (a contemporary nickname for one of the V&A;'s earliest galleries, 'Decorations on False Principles', that opened in 1852) and the myths and realities of its reception, then opened up a wider debate on design education and museums from the nineteenth century to the present day.

Mark Jones: The annual Henry Cole lecture has been initiated to celebrate Henry Cole's legacy and to explore the contribution that culture can make to education and society today. It has also been launched to celebrate the opening of the Sackler Centre for arts education, including the Hochhauser Auditorium in which we sit tonight. There could be no one better than Professor Sir Christopher Frayling to give the inaugural Henry Cole Lecture. Christopher is a rare being: an intellectual who is a great communicator; a theorist who has a firm grip on the practical realities of life: a writer who truly and instinctively understands the words of making design and visual communication. As an enormously successful and respected Rector of the Royal College of Art, as Chairman of the Arts Council, and as a member and chair of boards too numerous to mention - but not forgetting the Royal Mint Advisory Committee which has recently been responsible for redesigning the coinage (personal interest) and as by far the longest-serving Trustee of the V&A;, he brings together culture, education and public service in a way which Henry Cole would have approved and admired. So it's more than fitting that he should be giving this first Henry Cole Lecture, 'We Must Have Steam: Get Cole! Henry Cole, the Chamber of Horrors, and the Educational Role of the Museum'.

Thank you very much indeed Mark and thank you very much for inviting me to give this first Henry Cole Lecture. Just how much of an honour it is for me will I hope become clear as the lecture progresses.
Mark, Chairpeople, ladies and gentlemen:
Hidden away in the garden of the South Kensington Museum - now the Madejski Garden of the V&A; - there is a small and easily overlooked commemorative plaque that doesn't have a museum number. It reads: 'In Memory of Jim Died 1879 Aged 15 Years, Faithful Dog of Sir Henry Cole of this Museum'. Jim had in fact died on 30 January 1879. He was with Henry Cole in his heyday, as the king of South Kensington - its museums and colleges - and saw him through to retirement from the public service and beyond. And next to this inscription there's another one dedicated to Jim's successor, Tycho, and dated 1885. The dogs are actually buried in the garden. Now we know from Henry Cole's diary that between 1864 and 1879 Jim, who was a cairn terrier, was often to be seen in public at his master's side. In 1864 they were together inspecting the new memorial to the Great Exhibition of 1851 just behind the Albert Hall - a statue of Prince Albert by Joseph Durham on a lofty plinth covered in statistics about the income, expenditure and visitor numbers to the Great Exhibition: 6,039,195 to be exact. Cole had been a tireless champion of Prince Albert and according to the Princess Royal (later Empress of Prussia) there was a family saying in Buckingham Palace at the time, invented by Albert himself, that when things needed doing 'when we want steam we must get Cole'. We may therefore assume that when looking at the memorial, Cole was interested in the inscription, the statistics and the likeness of Prince Albert, while Jim was more interested in the possibilities of the plinth. In early 1866 - these are five studies of Jim, an etching by Henry Cole himself of 1864. In early 1866, first thing in the morning, soon after the workmen's bell had rung, Henry and Jim would set forth together from Cole's newly constructed official residence in the Museum (where he moved in July 1863) to tour the building sites of South Kensington - a name which was first invented by Cole when he re-named the museum The South Kensington Museum to describe the new developments happening around Brompton Church. According to 'The Builder' magazine, these two well-known figures would 'be seen clambering over bricks, mortar and girders up ladders and about scaffolding'. Several buildings in the South Kensington Renaissance Revival style were springing up all around them: The Natural History Museum, The College of Science, the extension to this Museum. And on the morning the Bethnal Green Museum opened - 24 June 1872 - Jim showed a healthy distaste for his master's well-known predilection for pomp and
