The Flying Lizards were an English experimental rock band, formed in 1976 in England. Their cover version of Barrett Strong's "Money" reached the UK and US record charts in 1979.
Formed by and led by record producer David Cunningham, the group was a loose collective of avant-garde and free improvising musicians, such as David Toop and Steve Beresford as instrumentalists, with Deborah Evans-Stickland, Patti Palladin and Vivien Goldman as main vocalists.
In August 1979 the band appreared twice on BBC's Top of the Pops performing their hit single "Money (That's What I Want)". They also appeared in February 1980 performing follow up single "TV". Virgin Records extended the band's recording contract after the success of "Money". The group released their début album The Flying Lizards in 1980. The album included two songs – "Her Story" and "The Window" – written and sung by Goldman. Their single issues included their postmodern cover versions of songs such as Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" and "Money".

The Window is a 1949 American black-and-white suspense film noir, based on the short story "The Boy Cried Murder" (reprinted as "Fire Escape") by Cornell Woolrich. The film, which was a critical success, was produced by Frederic Ullman, Jr. for $210,000 but earned much more, making it a box office hit for RKO Pictures. The film was directed by Ted Tetzlaff, who worked as a cinematographer on over 100 films, including another successful suspense film, Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious (1946).
Set and filmed on location in the tenement section of New York's Lower East Side, the film tells the story of a young boy, Tommy Woodry (Driscoll), who has a habit of crying wolf. Late one night, he climbs up the building fire escape and sees his two seemingly normal neighbors, Mr and Mrs Kellerson, murder a drunken sailor in their apartment. No one, neither the boy's parents nor the police, believes young Tommy when he tells them what he has seen, since they all assume that this is just another of the boy's tall tales.

1979.The Flying Lizards are a "loose collective of avant-garde and free improvising musicians", led and formed by David Cunningham. Although mostly known for reinterpreting pop songs in unconventional ways, which might be "funny" to some, the group had a unique approach to their sound which broke down the fabric of reality and society, in a very tribal primitive way. I'll always remember this one time I took acid and listened to "Russia", and feeling/seeing textures/imagery change accordingly with the low frequency hums and guitar feedback (like floating smoke being blown off a table every 8 bars). FYI Yasuaki Shimizu's sound is also heavily inspired by their style (he cites the sound on their "Fourth Wall" album as sounding like auditory hallucinations he had as a child suffering from bo...
