An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. Though the word "omen" is usually devoid of reference to the change's nature, hence being possibly either "good" or "bad," the term is more often used in a foreboding sense, as with the word "ominous". The origin of the word is unknown, although it may be connected with the Latin word audire, meaning "to hear."
Ancient Roman religion employed two distinct types of professional omen readers. Augurs interpreted the flights of birds, while haruspices employed animal sacrifice to obtain the entrails necessary for divination.
In the field of astrology, solar and lunar eclipses (along with the appearance of comets and to some extent the full moon) have often been considered omens of notable births, deaths, or other significant events throughout history in many societies. One biblical example is the Magi in the Gospel of Matthew who predicted the birth of Jesus after seeing the Star of Bethlehem.

Plot: Ben comments on the obstacles in life that prevent one's ability to reach aspirations. He calls Chloe, a close friend of his, to have a short-lived conversation before the call is cut off. His hint of doubt spawns Omen, a dark menacing figure who chases him. After a violent beat down, Ben arrives at a cliff ledge overlooking a beautiful horizon. His patience for Chloe to meet him there is cut short by Omen's return to his presence. Knowing what is to come, Ben uses his mobile and trusting himself to remember Chloe's number and delivers a motivational voice mail to keep his hopes up. Feeling accomplished, he gazes at the distant rainbow. A sign of greatness. His phone rings; it's Chloe. As Ben answers it Omen abruptly forces it out of his hand into the cold deep ocean below, inviting Ben to fight. Ben has another futile attempt at beating him down, only to have more bruises which he then resists. His ego gets the better of him as he continues to fight Omen who wields a knife. He is cut badly and is discouraged. Ben is facing Omen, looking him dead in the eye and telling him that after all he went through, he did not let the effect of Omen's actions scar him for life. Omen disappears while Ben attempts to call Chloe. The phone rings and rings.
