WestConnex to decimate more of the inner west

With detailed reports of two new WestConnex interchanges in Camperdown and Rozelle due to be released soon as part of the recent approval by Planning Minister Stokes of the M4 East, NSW Greens spokesperson on WestConnex, Jenny Leong MP, called for a complete review of the project.

Crucial South East Forests protected after years of campaigning

In a significant win for forests, and as a direct result of years of campaigning by forest protectors, 12,000 hectares of South Coast Forests in Murrah, Mumballa and Tanja State Forests are to be declared Flora reserves today.

Deputy Premier Admits He Doesn’t Know How Pill Testing Works; Rules Out Government Support For Trials Anyway

Greens NSW MP and Drugs & Harm Minimisation spokesperson Dr Mehreen Faruqi has said the Deputy Premier has shown his naivety and lack of knowledge on the proposed pill-testing trials in an interview on 2UE this morning.

The Deputy Premier said he isn’t sure about the “engineering of pill-testing” or the “science behind it”. He also says it should be ruled out because there are no “guarantees” we can give for safety through a pill-testing trial.

Dr Faruqi said:

Public services and land on the chopping block as Berejiklian announces state-wide cuts

NSW Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian's foreshadowed cuts to the public sector will damage the state's skills base and remove local control over local parks, reserves and community assets.

This is the Coalition pump-priming the state for the wholesale privatisation of public services, together with Crown and public land.

Greens MP and privatisation spokesperson David Shoebridge said: "Once again this is the Liberal party's market fundamentalism triumphing over good public policy in NSW.
