ESPN HS is a high school sports magazine published monthly during the school year in 25 markets around the United States. Founded as SchoolSports magazine in in 1997, the publication changed its name to RISE in 2006 and was purchased by ESPN in January 2008. In 2011, the magazine's title was changed to ESPN HS.

Sensing the high school sports market was being undercovered by local newspapers and television stations, SchoolSports was founded in 1997 in the Greater Boston area. In addition to being one of the first publications dedicated to covering high school sports, SchoolSports also gave student-athletes a voice by allowing them to submit articles for publication in the SchoolBeat section. The magazine's distribution model was also unique, as the publication was sent directly to area high schools free of charge.

Over the next 10 years, the magazine expanded to 25 markets and now is published in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, Houston, Colorado, Arizona, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Central Florida, St. Louis, Minnesota, Oregon, San Antonio/Austin, Indiana and New Jersey. All told, RISE has a monthly circulation of more than 1,000,000.

Joe Davis, OBE (born 15 April 1901 in Whitwell, Derbyshire, England; died 10 July 1978 in Hampshire) was a British professional player of snooker and English billiards.

Joe Davis became a professional billiards player at the age of 18, having won the Chesterfield Championship at age 13. In 1926 he reached his first World Professional Billiards Championship final but was unsuccessful against defending champion Tom Newman. He reached the final again the following year and was runner-up again to the same opponent. It was to be a case of third time lucky for Davis when he defeated Newman in 1928 to become the world champion at English billiards for the first time. He would defend his title for the next three years – against Newman again in 1929 and 1930 and New Zealander Clark McConachy in 1932. He contested the final two more times in 1933 and 1934 losing on both occasions to Australian Walter Lindrum.

Coinciding with his peak as a billiards player, Davis's interests shifted to snooker and he helped to organise the first snooker world championship in 1927 and won the tournament by beating Tom Dennis, for which he won UK£6 10s. He went on to win the world championship every year until 1940. Joe's brother Fred, twelve years his junior, was also a snooker player and multiple World Champion. When Joe met Fred in the world championship final of 1940, Joe won 37–36.

Christopher Charles Rix (born May 1, 1981) is a former NCAA Division I Filipino-American footballquarterback for the Florida State Seminoles (FSU) football team. Rix is also widely known as a coach and sportscaster.

Chris Rix was born and raised in upstate New York. Rix was primarily raised by his father Christopher Carroll Rix, after his mother died from cancer in 1989 when Rix was 7 years old. After his mother's death, Rix and his father moved to Seattle, WA and lived there from 1989-1995. Prior to entering high school, Rix and his father moved to Southern California to be closer to his family. Chris Rix attended both Bishop Amat Memorial High School and Santa Margarita Catholic High School, graduating in 2000.

Chris Rix is the first and only four year starter at quarterback (2001–2004) in the school's history under Bobby Bowden. Despite a severe ankle injury suffered early during his senior season, Rix ranks second in every major passing category at FSU. During Rix's career at Florida State, the Seminoles claimed 3 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) titles and appeared in 4 straight bowl games.

Gregory Wayne Oden, Jr. (born January 22, 1988) is an American basketball player at the center position who is currently a free agent. Oden played basketball for Ohio State University for one season, during which the team was the Big Ten Champion and the tournament runner-up in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship.

On June 28, 2007, Oden was selected first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. He underwent microfracture surgery of the knee in September 2007, and missed the entire 2007–08 NBA season as a result. He recovered and made his NBA debut on opening night 2008. On March 15, 2012 he was waived from the Trail Blazers after a long history of injuries.

Oden is currently the "Team Oden" spokesperson for Oregon Mentors, promoting mentoring for kids.

Oden was born in Buffalo, New York, and moved with his family to Terre Haute, Indiana at the age of nine. He attended Sarah Scott Middle School in Terre Haute, where he first played interscholastic basketball. He then relocated with his mother and brother and attended Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Indiana which he led to three consecutive Indiana Class 4A basketball championships before graduating in 2006. He was named Parade's High School Co-Player of the Year 2005 (along with Monta Ellis) and 2005 National Boys Basketball Player of the Year, becoming the first junior since LeBron James to be named such. He repeated as Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2006. Oden was named the 2006 Indiana Mr. Basketball. He was also on the McDonald's All-American Team and played in the All-American game.

Stanley Douglas Morgan (born February 17, 1955 in Easley, South Carolina) is a former NFL wide receiver who played for the New England Patriots. After a stellar career at Easley High School, including a state championship in 1972, Morgan went on to play college football for the University of Tennessee. Morgan was selected out of the University of Tennessee in the first round of the 1977 NFL Draft (25th overall). He also played one season for the Indianapolis Colts in 1990. He holds the all-purpose yards record for the University of Tennessee, which stands at 4,642.

Morgan was one of the fastest receivers in the NFL early in his career and averaged over 20 yards per reception his first six seasons, with a career high 24.1 yards per reception in 1978. He led the NFL in yards per reception in 1979, 1980 and 1981.

Stanley topped 1,000 receiving yards three times (1979, 1981 & 1986). Morgan appeared in four Pro Bowls (1979, 1980, 1986 & 1987) and was selected 2nd Team All-Pro in 1980 & 1986. He finished his career with 557 receptions for 10,716 yards and 72 touchdowns, along with 121 rushing yards. His 10,352 receiving yards with the Patriots set their franchise record.
