One day a couple weeks ago, a young man and his father happened upon our store. They were on there way to a Theater Organ event at the historic Colonial Theater in Phoenixville PA. There is a wonderful Theater Organ there maintained by the THEATRE ORGAN SOCIETY OF THE DELAWARE VALLEY (TOSDV). It is a 3-manual, 24-rank Wurlitzer. Regular concerts are held there featuring famous organists such as Walt Stroney, Lance Luce, Lyn Larson, Rudy Lucente among others. 24-year old concert organist, Nathan Laube, has played many of the world's largest pipe organs. He recently 'pulled out all the stops' on the great symphonic organ in Ocean Grove, NJ - the 17th largest in the world.
The organ has five keyboards (or manuals), a pedal board (or 'keyboard for the feet'), hundreds of stops, and over 11,000 pipes. As Laube explains, "You have this incredible machine you're driving. It's like the cockpit of an airplane."
Laube studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and assisted on the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia. He is currently Artist-in-Residence at the American Cathedral in Paris.
Musical excerpts from the Ocean Grove concert include Widor's Symphony no. 5, Durufle's Suite for Organ, Mendelssohn's Variations Serieuses, and Liszt's Les Preludes. (August 8, 2012)

MY TRIBUTE TO THE LATE BRIAN SHARP.
Brian had a rare gift of making an organ sound like a large orchestra, in this video you can see his technique of playing two keyboards with one hand, or the same in addition with the other hand, resulting in a multi track sound effect, truly the "Magic of Brian Sharp"
On the day of the concert, i traveled from London to pick up Brian From Sandford Park in Dorset, where he was resident organist and drove him to the London Olympia BMF for a afternoon concert playing the Kawai SR6. Brian was very relaxed on arrival for the concert ( i think it was because he did not have to drive )
On finishing the concert, I then had to return Brian to Sandford Park for an evening concert.
Back In 1982 i went on tour of the uk with Brian and the KAWAI T30 four manual concert organ as sound engineer for the Lewisham Organ Center, also touring with us was Harold Rich (BBC pianist) playing the KAWAI EP308 electric grand in concert with Brian. "Land of hope and glory" was very memorable.
I would also like to mention another organist, Andrew Gilbert, who was the Demonstrator for Kawai organs in the 1980`s, it was Andrew`s feed back to Kawai Japan on the E550 organ which lead to the DX900 and finally to the SR5,6 and 7 range of organs.
Also at that time ( 1979/80) the £30,000 Kawai T30 organ was featured at Frankfurt and later at the London music fair, this 4 manual monster was demonstrated at both shows by Andrew, who could show off its technical complexity with ease, Andrew and Brian were the main artists commissioned by Kawai to perform on the T30 and T50 organs in Japan.
Andrew is still teaching music and computer skills in Newhaven.
The T30 is still in full working order, now resides in Ferndown Dorset

Organist
An organist is a musician who plays any type of organ. An organist may play solo organ works, play with an ensemble or orchestra, or accompany one or more singers or instrumental soloists. In addition, an organist may accompany congregational hymn-singing and play liturgical music.
Classical and church organists
The majority of organists, amateur and professional, are principally involved in church music, playing in churches and cathedrals. The pipe organ still plays a large part in the leading of traditional western Christian worship, with roles including the accompaniment of hymns, choral anthems and other parts of the worship. The degree to which the organ is involved varies depending on the church and denomination. It also may depend on the standard of the organist. In more provincial settings, organists may be more accurately described as pianists obliged to play the organ for worship services; nevertheless, some churches are fortunate to have trained organists capable of more elaborate "voluntaries" (the solo music before, during and after the service) and improvisation. As most churches can afford to employ only one musician, the organist is usually also responsible for directing and rehearsing the choir(s). In the twentieth-century, many pipe organs were replaced by pipe-less electronic and digital organs, often as a low-cost alternative to rebuilding older pipe organs.

24-year old concert organist, Nathan Laube, has played many of the world's largest pipe organs. He recently 'pulled out all the stops' on the great symphonic organ in Ocean Grove, NJ - the 17th largest in the world.
The organ has five keyboards (or manuals), a pedal board (or 'keyboard for the feet'), hundreds of stops, and over 11,000 pipes. As Laube explains, "You have this incredible machine you're driving. It's like the cockpit of an airplane."
Laube studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and assisted on the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia. He is currently Artist-in-Residence at the American Cathedral in Paris.

On the day of the concert, i traveled from London to pick up Brian From Sandford Park in Dorset, where he was resident organist and drove him to the London Olympia BMF for a afternoon concert playing the Kawai SR6. Brian was very relaxed on arrival for the concert ( i think it was because he did not have to drive )
On finishing the concert, I then had to return Brian to Sandford Park for an evening concert.
Back In 1982 i went on tour of the uk with Brian and the KAWAI T30 four manual concert organ as sound engineer for the Lewisham Organ Center, also touring with us was Harold Rich (BBC pianist) playing the KAWAI EP308 electric grand in concert with Brian. "Land of hope and glory" was very memorable.
I would also like to mention another organist, Andrew Gilbert, who was the Demonstrator for Kawai organs in the 1980`s, it was Andrew`s feed back to Kawai Japan on the E550 organ which lead to the DX900 and finally to the SR5,6 and 7 range of organs.
Also at that time ( 1979/80) the £30,000 Kawai T30 organ was featured at Frankfurt and later at the London music fair, this 4 manual monster was demonstrated at both shows by Andrew, who could show off its technical complexity with ease, Andrew and Brian were the main artists commissioned by Kawai to perform on the T30 and T50 organs in Japan.
Andrew is still teaching music and computer skills in Newhaven.
The T30 is still in full working order, now resides in Ferndown Dorset
