Make Me

"Make Me" is a song by American singer-songwriter Janet Jackson included on her second greatest hits compilation Number Ones (2009). The song was written by Jackson, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Thomas Lumpkins, and Michaela Shiloh. Initially presented as an audio stream to those who joined her web site's official mailing list in September 2009, it was released via digital download later that month, on September 22, 2009, as the lead and only single from Number Ones by A&M Records.

"Make Me" features an up-tempo disco beat and lyrical hook reminiscent of her material from the 1980s. The song received critical praise, with music critics comparing the song favorably to her hit "All for You" (2001) and her brother Michael Jackson's 1979 number one single "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough", both of which carry a distinct disco beat. It became her 19th number one hit single on the Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart, and made her the first artist to earn number one singles on the chart across four decades. The song's music video, directed by Robert Hales, was shot entirely in black and white, and it received positive critical reception for its vintage aesthetic.

Shake!

Shake! (formerly The Core and Milkshake! FM) was a television programming block shown by United Kingdom broadcaster Channel 5, original aimed at 8 to 15 year olds.

History

The block originally ran between 2000 and 2007 under various names, and was launched as a new umbrella branding for older kids' programmes on Channel 5 following the earlier demise in 1999 of the Josie D'Arby-hosted weekend afternoon teen series The Mag.

The block launched in 2000 as "The Core", broadcasting Saturday afternoons. A number of original commisonmed programmes were created for the block, such as Harry and Cosh and Atlantis High, a number of imported teens shows were also used.

In Channel 5's major network relaunch of 2002 "The Core" was renamed to Milkshake! FM in January 2002, taking its name from the established Channel 5 preschool-age slot Milkshake!. This block aired in the mid-morning (circa 9am-noon) on Saturdays and Sundays, while a number of programmes aired during the core continued to be broadcast during Saturday afternoon. During late 2002, it was re-branded again as Shake!.

Shake! (album)

Shake! is an album by the blues-rock group the Siegel–Schwall Band. Their third album, it was released in 1968 by Vanguard Records as a vinyl LP. It was later re-released as a CD, also on the Vanguard label.

Shake! was the group's last album to feature Jack Dawson on bass guitar and Russ Chadwick on drums.

Critical reception

On Allmusic, Cub Koda wrote, "Shake! was probably the group's second best album and certainly the one that came the closest to representing their live act.... Lots of fun and fireworks on this one, the sound of a band at the top of their game."

Gems is the twelfth solo album by American singer Patti LaBelle, released on MCA Records in June 1994. The album is notable for the international pop hit, the Ann Nesby co-write, "The Right Kinda Lover", which brought LaBelle a new legion of fans thanks to its production by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and its catchy video which had LaBelle performing a seductress who chooses "the right mate" through a machine and if one man rubbed her the wrong way, she'd use a button to get rid of them. The album also features a Hip-Hop-esque remake of DeBarge's 1983 hit, "All This Love", produced by Teddy Riley. The album peaked at number forty-eight on the Billboard Top 200 and went gold with sales shipping past the 500,000 mark.
