Sabine Elementary named UIL District Academic champ

Sabine Elementary School has been named UIL District Academic Champion for the 2015-2016 school year. UIL offers many types of contest for students in second through fifth grades. All contests are created with curricular objectives in mind. Sabine earned 42 individual medals and 15 team medals.
First place (individual):
Uriel Sifuentes (fifth grade, number sense), Jonah Brenner (2/3 grades, chess logic), Devyn Hardin (fifth grade, oral reading), Allie Buechter (fifth grade, music memory), and Claudia Simmons (fifth grade, dictionary).
Second place (individual):
Mackenzie Longmire (fourth grade, spelling), Drew Cox (4/5 grades, chess logic), Olivia Horton (third grade, storytelling), Kayla Morris (fourth grade, music memory), and Gisele Flores (fifth grade, music memory).
Third place (individual):
Tayla Calico (fifth grade, dictionary), Eliza Roper (fifth grade, maps, charts and graphs), Ryan Holly (fifth listening), Hailey Aguilar (fifth grade, music memory), Zach Donovan (fifth grade, social studies), Eva Mendez (fourth grade, art smart), Carson McCarthy (fourth grade, music memory), and Connor Loveless (4/5 grades, chess logic).
