When You Come

"When You Come" is a song by rock group Crowded House and was released in August 1988 on Capitol Records as the second Australian single from their second album Temple of Low Men. The song peaked at #27 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Both B sides, "Something So Strong" (July 1987) and "Better Be Home Soon" (July 1988) were previously released as singles. All songs were written by band leader Neil Finn except "Something So Strong" by Finn and record producer, Mitchell Froom. A live version of the song was recorded at The Roxy, Los Angeles, United States on 26 February 1987 and was issued as a three-track CD-EP in September 1993. In UK and European markets, "Sister Madly" was released as the second single from Temple of Low Men, also in August.

"When You Come" appears on Crowded House's greatest hits album Recurring Dream (June 1996) and was also performed at the group's farewell concert, released as Farewell to the World (November 1996).

Background

Temple of Low Men is Crowded House's second studio album, it was produced by Mitchell Froom and was released in July 1988 on Capitol Records. The album's lead single, "Better Be Home Soon", hinted at a much darker tone than the debut album, Crowded House from 1986. Although it was critically acclaimed, Temple of Low Men did not sell as well in the United States, it did better in Australia and New Zealand. "When You Come", the second Australian single, peaked at #27 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In UK and European markets, "Sister Madly" was released as the second single instead, also in August.

"When You Come Back" was used as the main theme song for UK broadcaster ITV's coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2010. Parts of the song are played with an image of liquid gold forming the trophy and the shape of the African Continent. The song entered the UK Official Singles Chart on 4th of July, 2010 at #70.

Live Forever

"Live Forever" is a song by English rock band Oasis. Written by Noel Gallagher, the song was released as the third single from their debut album Definitely Maybe (1994) on 8 August 1994, just prior to that album's release.

Gallagher wrote the song in 1991, before he joined Oasis. Inspired by The Rolling Stones' "Shine a Light", "Live Forever" features a basic song structure and lyrics with an optimistic outlook that contrasted with the attitude of the grunge bands popular at the time. The song was the first Oasis single to enter the top ten in the United Kingdom, and garnered critical acclaim.

Background and recording

Noel Gallagher began working on "Live Forever" in 1991, while working for a building company in his hometown of Manchester. After his foot was crushed by a pipe in an accident, he was given a less-strenuous job working in the storeroom, allowing him more time to write songs. One night, he was listening to The Rolling Stones' album Exile on Main St.; while playing one of his own chord progressions, Gallagher noted that it sounded good against one of the vocal melodies from the album: "It was the bit from "Shine a Light" that goes [sings], "May the good Lord shine a light on you"", Gallagher recalled. Gallagher incorporated the melody, changing the line to "Maybe I don't really want to know". For a period afterwards, that was the only part of the song Gallagher had completed.

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's eponymous debut album in 2006 marked the start of her career as a country music singer. Her third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 in the United States. The album won four Grammy Awards, making Swift the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Swift's third and fourth albums, 2010's Speak Now and 2012's Red, both sold more than one million copies within the first week of their U.S release. Speak Now's "Mean" won two Grammy Awards, while Red's singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" were successful worldwide. Swift's fifth album, the pop-focused 1989, was released in 2014 and sold more copies in its opening week than any album in the previous 12 years, making Swift the first and only act to have three albums sell more than one million copies in the opening release week. Its singles "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", and "Bad Blood" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The album would go on to win three awards at the 2016 Grammys including Album of the Year making Swift the first and thus far only female artist to receive the award twice.
