Touch of Death

The touch of death (or Death-point striking) refers to any martial arts technique reputed to kill using seemingly less than lethal force targeted at specific areas of the body.

The concept known as dim mak (simplified Chinese: 点脉; traditional Chinese: 點脈; pinyin: diǎnmài; Jyutping: dim² mak⁶; literally: "press artery"), alternatively diǎnxué (simplified Chinese: 点穴; traditional Chinese: 點穴) traces its history to traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture. Tales of its use are often found in the Wuxia genre of Chinese martial arts fiction. Dim mak is depicted as a secret body of knowledge with techniques that attack pressure points and meridians, said to incapacitate or sometimes cause immediate or even delayed death to an opponent. Little scientific or historical evidence exists for the existence of a martial arts "touch of death", although mild trauma may cause disproportionately catastrophic consequences when applied to known pressure points under specific circumstances.

The concept known as vibrating palm originates with the Chinese martial arts Neijing ("internal") energy techniques that deal with the qi energy and the type of force (jin) used. It is depicted as "a technique that is part psychic and part vibratory, this energy is then focused into a wave".

Garmiani

Jiar Garmiani (born 16 May 1983), commonly known by his stage name Garmiani, is a Swedish electronic dance music producer and DJ.

Early life

Born in east Kurdistan, Garmiani moved to Sweden at the age of 6 as a result of the Iran-Iraq war. Having a musician father and being obsessed with music from a very young age, he owned his first instrument at the age of 6. At the age of 12, he saved his allowance for 6 months and bought his first DJ mixer. At the age of 13 he started rapping. He studied music in high school and later graduated from the Audio Engineering program at SAE institute. He has mentioned 2Pac, Dr Dre, The Prodigy and Armand Van Helden as early musical influencers.

Music career

2001-2011

After rapping and producing underground HipHop between 2001-2007, he moved on to producing a hybrid of Hiphop/Dancehall/Electro under the alias Al Azif between 2007-2011. The Al Azif remix of Crossfire’s ”Lady” gained a #1 spot on the Swedish radio station The Voice’s top chart in 2008. In 2009, a Spanish version of the same remix stayed #1 on the Billboard single chart in Chile for 8 weeks, keeping Black Eyed Peas ”I Gotta Feeling" and Lady Gaga’s ”Bad Romance” off the top position. in 2011 he released the last Al Azif single ”Sick In Head” on Sony Music Entertainment Sweden. After that, he retired the Al Azif project.

Dim Mak Records

Dim Mak is an independent, Los Angeles, CA-based record label, events company, and lifestyle brand founded by Steve Aoki in 1996. The label has released music in punk, indie rock, hardcore, and electronic dance musics. The label is driven by Aoki’s "Do It Yourself" ethos and the company’s "By Any Means Necessary" mantra.

Dim Mak has promoted various artists including The Bloody Beetroots, Bloc Party, The Kills, and Battles, The Gossip, Andy's iLL, Klaxons, MSTRKRFT, Felix Cartal, Datsik, and others. In 2014, the label made its 500th release with the King Babies EP from The Death Set. Dim Mak’s current roster includes releases from Clockwork, Angger Dimas, Azari & III, Keys N Krates, Dirtyphonics, and many more.

Records

Early Years (1996-2001)

Steve Aoki started Dim Mak Records at the age of 19 out of his college dorm at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2001, Dim Mak released one of the label’s first major projects with the self-titled debut EP from Pretty Girls Make Graves. Releases from The Kills and The Black Rooster followed the year after. Aoki relocated Dim Mak to Los Angeles in 2002 on the success of these projects.

By any means necessary

By any means necessary is a translation of a phrase used by the French intellectual Jean-Paul Sartre in his play Dirty Hands. It entered the popular civil rights culture through a speech given by Malcolm X at the Organization of Afro-American Unity Founding Rally on June 28, 1964. It is generally considered to leave open all available tactics for the desired ends, including violence; however, the “necessary” qualifier adds a caveat—if violence is not necessary, then presumably, it should not be used.

The phrase is translation of a sentence used in French intellectual Jean-Paul Sartre's play Dirty Hands:

Malcolm X

It entered the popular culture through a speech given by Malcolm X in the last year of his life.

Mandela case

In the final scene of the 1992 movie Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela—recently released after 27 years of political imprisonment—appears as a schoolteacher in a Soweto classroom. Yet Mandela informed director Spike Lee that he could not utter the famous final phrase "by any means necessary" on camera fearing that the apartheid government would use it against him if he did. Lee obliged, and the final seconds of the film feature black-and-white footage of Malcolm X himself delivering the phrase.

Any Means Necessary

"Any Means Necessary" is a song by the Swedish power and heavy metal band HammerFall released as a single from their album No Sacrifice, No Victory. It is included a promo CD which comes in a cardboard sleeve and only has the track on it.
The single was also released as a digital only EP featuring five tracks, listed below, of which four of them are considered the band's best songs.
