Chris Reeve is an American and South African knife maker, recognized as one of the most influential people in knife making history. Reeve founded Chris Reeve Knives (CRK), and is co-owner of the company with his wife, Anne Reeve. In 2015 he was inducted into the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame.
Christopher Stanley Reeve was born on December 4, 1953, in Durban, South Africa. His original vocation was that of tool and die making. Reeve trained at the Pineware Manufacturing Company, serving a 4-year tool and die making apprenticeship that finished in 1978. Reeve credits his experience in tool and die for developing his grinding skills and giving him the manufacturing and materials knowledge he needed to jumpstart him in professional knife making.
As a young man, Reeve’s spare time was largely spent engaged in motorcycle racing. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he was a regular competitor in South Africa’s Grand Prix motorcycle racing circuit. Unlike many of his competitors, Reeve did not have corporate funding. As a result, Reeve used the highly competitive race setting to hone his problem-solving skills, custom tuning his motorcycle with components often designed and fabricated in his own shop.
Chris Reeve Knives (CRK) is a U.S. corporation with international sales and distribution based in Boise, ID. CRK manufactures folding pocket knives, fixed blade knives, and custom walking sticks. He is known best for his folding knife the Sebenza. Their motto is "Think Twice, Cut Once."
Chris Reeve Knives was founded as a sole proprietorship in January 1984, with Chris Reeve making custom knives in the single garage attached to the house in which Reeve was living in Durban, South Africa. In March 1989, Reeve and his wife/partner Anne Reeve immigrated to the United States, and CRK commenced manufacturing in Boise, ID. In July 1993, Chris Reeve Knives, sole proprietorship, became Reeve Incorporated, doing business as Chris Reeve Knives. Reeve collaborated with Dick Barber of Crucible Materials Corporation to develop CPM S30V steel as a knifemaking steel in 2003. Chris Reeve Knives has collaborated with William Harsey, Jr. on several fixed blade knife projects, and serves as the manufacturer of these knives.
Chris is a short form of various names including Christopher, Christian, Christina, Christine, and Christos. Unlike these names, however, it does not indicate the person's gender although it is much more common for males to have this name than it is for females.
It is the preferred form of the full name of such notable individuals as Chris Tucker and Chris Penn. To find an article about one of these people, see List of all pages beginning with "Chris".
The word is also part of phrases, including Tropical Storm Chris, Ruth's Chris Steak House, and many more which refer to notable people, places, and things. For a list of these, see All pages with titles containing chris.

Cold Steel is a Ventura, California manufacturer of knives, swords and other edged weapons and tools.
Cold Steel's products are manufactured worldwide, including the United States, Japan, People's Republic of China (PRC), Republic of China (Taiwan) and South Africa. Some blades are marked Windlass so India made.
The company's products include fixed blade knives, folding knives, swords, machetes, tomahawks, kukris, blowguns, walking sticks, and other martial arts items and training equipment. Their knives are used by military and law-enforcement personnel worldwide.
Cold Steel is credited with popularizing the American tantō in 1980. Cold Steel marketed knives made for them in the U.S. by Camillus using a carbon steel given the trademarked name "Carbon V", read Carbon five. Their imported knives were nearly all made in Seki Japan using Aus8 which Cold Steel labelled "400 Series Stainless". They also had two models made in Taiwan, both of which switched to Japan in 2000. In 2007 Camillus New York went bankrupt and Cold Steel was forced to find a new manufacturer for their carbon steel fixed blades. Cold steel first went to China (People's Republic of China) but allegedly due to quality issues they switched to Taiwan (Republic of China) production. At the same time Cold Steel moved all of their folding knife manufacturing from Seki Japan to Taiwan. The carbon steel was SK5 and stainless was Aus8 both imported to Taiwan from Japan. However the Sanmai III models remained strictly Seki Japan production.

The Exquisite Blade The Legend Of Chris Reeve Knives Part1 (English)
In a short and "to the point" video about the Chris Reeve Sebenza, I discuss whether it deseres either of its reputations. Is it really the best production folding knife in the universe with magical qualities of strength and smoothness hinging on its mysterious bushing pivot, or is it an over-hyped, over-priced mythical creature which has been passed by over the years by time and technology? My thoughts... :)
Just going over my Chris Reeve Knife Collection. Out of all the different knives I've handled, CRK is always my favorite. I just don't think it gets better. Thanks for watching!

Here's my review of the Chris Reeve Sebenza 25, and comparison to the vaunted Sebenza 21. While some will appreciate the 25 for its thicker blade, new primary grind and revised index finger groove, for me there are just too many changes that go the wrong direction. The new pivot (Umnumzaan style), narrower handle, pocket clip location and the absence of the bushing pivot all combine to make a knife I'm not extremely fond of. But variety is the spice of life, now isn't it?
http://chrisreeve.com/ http://www.equip2endure.com/becomeamember/ Guys, let me put this video into context.... it was a long day at Blade Show and Chris' booth had been swamped the entire day. This was the fourth time I tried to get an interview with him since Shot Show! He recognized that fact and the last few minutes of the show took his time to sit down and talk with me. He was very nice and even took time to take photos. Nice guy! Don't let the tired look on both our faces fool you. Thank you Mr. Reeve for the interview!
Here's a look at a battle worn classic from Chris Reeve Knives, the Green Beret fixed blade. This one is property of my customer Brad, from Saskatchewan, and it looks like it's definitely seen some time in the field! The Green Beret is the civilian version of the Yarborough Knife, which is presented to all graduates of the US Army Special Forces school. Designed by William Harsey and produced in Idaho by Chris Reeve Knives, it's a knife more than worthy of our most lethal soldiers. Take a look...

Early 90's interview for UK talk-show 'This Morning'. Thanks to Steve and everyone at the Superman Homepage for all their praise and comments. Cheers!
One of the most difficult series of interviews for me to watch....He was such a joyful, full of life ,nice person to work with.....What a loss....in case you never knew him...this interview will help you get a feel for him..... Christopher D'Olier Reeve[1] (September 25, 1952 — October 10, 2004) was an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He established himself early as a Juilliard-trained stage actor before portraying Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent in four films, from 1978 to 1987. On May 27 1995, Christopher Reeve was paralyzed in an accident during the cross country portion of an Eventing competition. He was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Although Reeve was tall enough for the role and had the blue eyes and handsome features, his physique was slim. He refused t...
