The early-to-mid 2000s economic downturn in the US and Europe forced cultural heritage institutions to adopt a more pragmatic stance towards metadata creation and to deliver short-term results towards grant providers. It is precisely in this context that the concept of Linked and Open Data (LOD) has gained momentum. In this presentation, we want to focus on metadata cleaning and reconciliation, two elementary steps to bring cultural heritage collections into the Linked Data cloud. After an initial cleaning process, involving, for example, the detection of duplicates and the unifying of encoding formats, metadata is reconciled by mapping a domain specific and/or local vocabulary to another (more commonly used) vocabulary that is already a part of the Semantic Web. We believe that the integration of heterogeneous collections can be managed by using subject vocabularies for cross linking between collections, since major classifications and thesauri (e.g. LCSH, DDC, RAMEAU, etc.) have been made available following Linked Data Principles.
Re-using these established terms for indexing cultural heritage resources represents a big potential of Linked Data for digital library projects, but there is a common belief that the application of LOD publishing still requires expert knowledge of Semantic Web technologies. We will therefore demonstrate how Semantic Web novices can start experimenting on their own with non-expert software such as Google Refine. All necessary operations to reconcile metadata with controlled vocabularies which are already a part of the Linked Data cloud will be presented in detail. Direct-to-video (also known as direct-to-DVD, direct-to-iTunes, direct-to-VHS, direct-to-digital, made-for-video, straight-to-video, and straight-to-DVD) is a term used to describe a film that has been released to the public on home video formats (historically VHS) without being released in film theaters or broadcast on television. The term is also at times used as a derogatory term for films or sequels of films that are of inferior quality or are not expected to find financial success. Direct-to-video releases have become something of a lifeline for independent filmmakers and smaller companies.
A production studio may decide not to generally release a TV show or film for several possible reasons: poor quality, lack of support from a TV network, negative reviews, controversial nature, or a simple lack of general public interest. Studios, limited in the annual number of films to which they grant cinematic releases, may choose to pull the completed film from the theaters, or never exhibit it in theaters at all. Studios then generate additional revenue through video sales and rentals.

Chris Zabriskie (born March 10, 1982 in Olympia, Washington) is an American composer and musician.
Chris Zabriskie got his musical start in a noise rock duo Struggleburger, but went solo unexpectedly at a show in 2001 when the other members of the band did not show up.
In 2007, Zabriskie recorded We Were Wrong under the name lo-fi is sci-fi with Marc Sirdoreus (better known as Marc with a C). The music video for the first single, "The Script You Wrote is Terrible," won praise for its simple presentation and Zabriskie's deadpan performance.
In 2009, he turned his attention towards instrumental music, first releasing The Dark Glow of the Mountains. The album's stark electronic minimalism was a departure from his previous work. Two more instrumental albums, I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor and Preludes followed in the same year. He continues to release new ambient music on a regular basis.
Zabriskie self-releases his albums on his website and is also a vocal supporter of BitTorrent and file sharing, and has said that he leaks his own records to various torrent sites in advance of their release dates. As of March 2009, Zabriskie offers free downloads of all of his music on his website. In 2011, Zabriskie joined WMFU's Free Music Archive and changed the Creative Commons license on his music to be much more permissive and open.

Lake Superior put on a dramatic ice show! While shooting in Duluth's Canal Park, I noticed the ice had pulled away from shore and felt the breeze at my back. I anticipated there would be some ice stacking as the massive sheet of ice met the shorelines, so I headed to Brighton Beach. The big lake did not disappoint! As the water opened up, the sea smoke was whisked across the surface by the breeze. The sparkles visible in some segments were from the sun gilding the frost flowers that had formed on top of the new ice overnight -- icing on the cake! (Turn up your volume to hear the plates of ice stacking.) I am at awe and mesmerized by ice stacking (and waves), and spent hours immersed in the sights and sounds of one of my favorite winter occurrences (despite the subzero temps and frigid breeze). I hope you enjoy this glimpse into an incredible experience along the shores of Gitche Gumee! ~~Dawn Four hours of 12-15 mph steady winds from the SW led up to the movement of the large sheets of ice on Lake Superior on Saturday, February 13, 2016 along the shoreline of Duluth, Minnesota. Once the ice separated from shore and could gain momentum with the wind, it slowly moved in the direction of Brighton Beach. The conditions during the two hours of filming ranged from --8°F to +3°F air temp (-20°F to -8°F windchill) with winds 5-10 mph from the SW. As the massive sheets of ice met the rocky shorelines, they broke into large plates and stacked on shore, sounding much like breaking glass. The ice thickness being stacked on shore ranged from about 1/4" thick to about 3" thick. The sights and sounds were incredible! This has been a mild winter overall, with much less ice cover than usual for the Great Lakes, and consequently the ice has not formed as thick as typical winters (yet, anyway). Lake Superior Ice Stacking (Feb. 13, 2016)
Lake Superior put on a dramatic ice show! While shooting in Duluth's Canal Park, I noticed the ice had pulled away from shore and felt the breeze at my back. I anticipated there would be some ice stacking as the massive sheet of ice met the shorelines, so I headed to Brighton Beach. The big lake did not disappoint! As the water opened up, the sea smoke was whisked across the surface by the breeze. The sparkles visible in some segments were from the sun gilding the frost flowers that had formed on top of the new ice overnight -- icing on the cake! The early-to-mid 2000s economic downturn in the US and Europe forced cultural heritage institutions to adopt a more pragmatic stance towards metadata creation and to deliver short-term results towards grant providers. It is precisely in this context that the concept of Linked and Open Data (LOD) has gained momentum. In this presentation, we want to focus on metadata cleaning and reconciliation, two elementary steps to bring cultural heritage collections into the Linked Data cloud. After an initial cleaning process, involving, for example, the detection of duplicates and the unifying of encoding formats, metadata is reconciled by mapping a domain specific and/or local vocabulary to another (more commonly used) vocabulary that is already a part of the Semantic Web. We believe that the integration of heterogeneous collections can be managed by using subject vocabularies for cross linking between collections, since major classifications and thesauri (e.g. LCSH, DDC, RAMEAU, etc.) have been made available following Linked Data Principles.
Re-using these established terms for indexing cultural heritage resources represents a big potential of Linked Data for digital library projects, but there is a common belief that the application of LOD publishing still requires expert knowledge of Semantic Web technologies. We will therefore demonstrate how Semantic Web novices can start experimenting on their own with non-expert software such as Google Refine. All necessary operations to reconcile metadata with controlled vocabularies which are already a part of the Linked Data cloud will be presented in detail. Lake Superior put on a dramatic ice show! While shooting in Duluth's Canal Park, I noticed the ice had pulled away from shore and felt the breeze at my back. I ...
Lake Superior put on a dramatic ice show! While shooting in Duluth's Canal Park, I noticed the ice had pulled away from shore and felt the breeze at my back. I anticipated there would be some ice stacking as the massive sheet of ice met the shorelines, so I headed to Brighton Beach. The big lake did not disappoint! As the water opened up, the sea smoke was whisked across the surface by the breeze. The sparkles visible in some segments were from the sun gilding the frost flowers that had formed on top of the new ice overnight -- icing on the cake! (Turn up your volume to hear the plates of ice stacking.) I am at awe and mesmerized by ice stacking (and waves), and spent hours immersed in the sights and sounds of one of my favorite winter occurrences (despite the subzero temps and frigid breeze). I hope you enjoy this glimpse into an incredible experience along the shores of Gitche Gumee! ~~Dawn
Four hours of 12-15 mph steady winds from the SW led up to the movement of the large sheets of ice on Lake Superior on Saturday, February 13, 2016 along the shoreline of Duluth, Minnesota. Once the ice separated from shore and could gain momentum with the wind, it slowly moved in the direction of Brighton Beach. The conditions during the two hours of filming ranged from --8°F to +3°F air temp (-20°F to -8°F windchill) with winds 5-10 mph from the SW. As the massive sheets of ice met the rocky shorelines, they broke into large plates and stacked on shore, sounding much like breaking glass. The ice thickness being stacked on shore ranged from about 1/4" thick to about 3" thick. The sights and sounds were incredible!
This has been a mild winter overall, with much less ice cover than usual for the Great Lakes, and consequently the ice has not formed as thick as typical winters (yet, anyway).

Ending a 3 year project is nothing to go lightly on. I knew that if I were to do something big for the end of this year, it would have to literally be beyond me and my potential and this medley was just that. This medley was begun a week and a day before it was released. I made this during the same week as my last year of college finals and during hell weeks for numerous other projects rendering me very little possible time to work on it. Still the time restraint gave me One day for arranging, one day for drum programming, one day for doing all of the mixing and mastering and one day to edit this beast of a video. This was because recording all of the audio took 4 days of straight recording to finish. Things didn't go to plan, namely I wish I had had more time to practice with the green screen and make sure all the shots would work with it and I wish I had more time to mix and master.
Why would I do that, you may ask. Why would I give myself a week to produce a 17 minute medley with 38 songs and also incorporate techniques like green screening I've never even practiced for video before? Because if there's anything I've tried to do in these past 4 years of being on YouTube and not just with video game covers, it's push myself to my absolute potential. What you're watching is literally the best I can do given a week to put a video together and I'm not sure I can ever top this in that amount of time. Hence why I will be stopping weekly cover thus far. I'll be touching up on that in the update video coming soon.
That out of the way, I had a ridiculously fun time making this. The covers in the style I was doing them started to drain on me and I had to do something different. I've been planning something like this since the very beginning of my YouTube videos as I was greatly inspired by the Mario Paint video Evolution of Video Gaming, not to mention people like Fredde Gredde who put countless songs in one video and still made it enjoyable regardless of the length. I hope this video does everything I hoped it would for you and really take you on a journey through the amazing short life video gaming has had since 1972.
These past 4 years have been a journey for me and this was the best way to repay you guys in my eyes. Because of your support, I have had opportunities to do things I couldn't have ever dreamed of and even when I was worried this video wouldn't get done, or spending countless minutes I didn't have nailing a riff, I knew that this video would be my greatest thank you possible to the worlds most amazing fan base.
There are no words that can possibly express my gratitude so I'll leave it just as I left this video.

The Barbie film series is an American computer animated and motion capture-based direct-to-video film series featuring Barbie. Since her film debut appearance in 1987's Barbie and the Rockers: Out of this World, Barbie has been a computer-animated virtual actress starring in several feature films and short films (including a 1998 video game, Barbie: Riding Club, that contains a short film). After a fourteen-year absence, Mattel commissioned films to feature Barbie as a heroine of several princess or fairy-themed stories to accompany a franchise of related dolls and accessories. Barbie also made an appearance in My Scene and Toy Story films.
Many of the Barbie movies are stand alone tales. There are several series within the overall collection. The most notable of these are the Barbie Princesses Collection series, Barbie Fairytopia series, mermaid-themed series, modern day-themed series, as well as musical and ballet series. Some films are based on the story from E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Brothers Grimm, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Hans Christian Andersen, and Alexander Dumas.
