The answer is very simple, Kimberly Pierce. The director of the critically acclaimed Boys Don't Cry and the underrated Stop-Loss still has a strong reputation in Hollywood, with many eager to work with her on whatever project she does next, which in this case was Carrie. Recently, we had the privilege of talking with Moretz, Moore, Greer and Pierce at the Carrie press junket, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California. In the process of chatting with each of them, it became clear that they were not looking to make a quick buck on this classic story of teenage rebellion and revenge. Each one of them explained how Stephen King's book has stood the test of time and that its themes (especially bullying) are as prevalent today as they were when the first edition was published. Many still see Brian DePalma's version of Carrie as one of the greatest horror movies ever made, but whether or not you think that Pierce's version is anywhere as effective, it is fair to say that she has made this story her own. With a script reportedly more faithful to the original novel, the film is an updated, 21st century version of the 1976 classic by Brian de Palma. The victim of bullying, Carrie is invited to the senior prom, only to be pranked and humiliated in front of everyone. Out of vengeance, she unleashes her telekinetic powers in what turns into a horrifying massacre. Chloë Grace Moretz is Carrie White: "It wasn't intimidating for the movie, I was intimidated to take on a Stephen King novel," said the young actress. "I think that's what it was, it was doing justice to that. I hadn't watched the movie since I was 11, and I didn't watch it during the process at all. So for me it was really the book and doing justice to that." Moretz was only 15 when she was cast as Carrie, a performance which landed Sissy Spacek an Oscar nomination back in 1976. She is no stranger to horror flicks, having starred in "Let Me In" two years ago. Carrie's god-fearing mother is played by Julianne Moore. She explains how she prepared for the role: "In a way, it wasn't that difficult. We didn't have much to do. It was sort of like doing nothing but make yourself look as bad as possible and putting these long, grey streaks in you hair and letting it be as frizzy and kind of nasty as possible," said Julianne Moore.
