Travel video about destination Colorado.
Colorado is situated in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, a land of remote valleys and high mountains.Denver is the state capital and is located on a sunny high plateau sixteen hundred metres above sea level where the local inhabitants enjoy more sunshine throughout the year than in California’s San Diego or even Honolulu. Skyscrapers between the prairie and the Rockies, a somewhat surreal city in which various power industry companies are to be found. The 16th Street Mall is the city’s pride and a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the USA plus a free bus service! It contains several shopping malls, restaurants and all kinds of shops with products from all over the world. The shining red rocks on the outskirts of Colorado Springs are a striking spectacle within the Garden Of The Gods. The huge red sandstone rock formations rise to a height of up to a hundred and fifty metres. The natural monuments are a reminder of the geological past of this extraordinary region situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains Directly next to the caves at the foot of Pike’s Peak are the caves in which the Anasazi Indians once lived, the famous Cliff Dwellings where one can gain a fascinating insight into the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, how they lived, their culture and beliefs. The Indian Museum features Indian culture and work tools and is an impressive record of a long forgotten time and a people that almost became extinct. Sprague Lake is one of the region’s many glacial lakes and is ideal for walkers as well as anglers and boat enthusiasts, and several ranches offer accommodation. Ghost towns, gold mines, ancient cultures and mountain paradises, Native Indians, explorers, fur traders and gold prospectors, all the ingredients of the colourful history of America’s wild West. Colorado is indeed a place of spectacular nature and breathtaking adventure!

Entry from: Zacatecas, Mexico
Entry Title: "Weekend in Zacatecas"
Entry:
""What happens in Zacatecas stays in Zacatecas"...so became our motto on the bus ride home. Another great weekend in another great Mexican city, which happens to be another UNESCO World Heritage Site (México seems to have a lot of them, and for good reason - it truly is a beautiful country!), August 3-5, 2007.
After finishing a couple midterms at the end of the week, we were all set again to leave Guadalajara in the CEPE bus and six hours later, we arrived in Zacatecas. It was in this city that I would again become acquainted with the already too familiar tequila, and learn that hangovers in high altitudes (Zacatecas is 2500m above sea level - one of the highest cities in Mexico) definitely don't mix well. Ah, the price you must pay for having a bit too many 2x1 tequilas at Cactus Club......
While that was (and always will be) the defining memory of this particular weekend for me (and my friends), there is lots to see in Zacatecas. Saturday morning, my good friend managed to end my passed-out-from-the-night-before state, and I somehow made the guided tour through the city. We took a cable car between two mountains which offered breathtaking views (although I was feeling dazed at the time and regret not having fully appreciated the view), and explored a silver mine, El Edén, complete with hard hat and all. Incidentally, part of the mine is converted to a club at night, and another thing that I can at least say is that I got to party in a mine!
Zacatecas is also known for its Cathedral and other churches, characterized by their unique, intricate façades carved and constructed with faint red stone -- truly different from other Mexican cities.
So all in all, another great weekend with great friends as always, and bad but very cheap tequila."

Morelia is a city and municipality in the north central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico. The city is in the Guayangareo Valley and is the capital of the state. The main pre-Hispanic cultures here were the P'urhépecha and the Matlatzinca, but no major cities were founded in the valley during this time. The Spanish took control of the area in the 1520s. The Spanish under Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza founded a settlement here in 1541 with the name of Valladolid, which became rival to the nearby city of Pátzcuaro for dominance in Michoacán. In 1580, this rivalry ended in Valladolid's favor and it became the capital of the colonial province. After the Mexican War of Independence, the city was renamed Morelia in honor of José María Morelos y Pavón, who hailed from the city. In 1991, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well preserved colonial buildings and layout of the historic center

Travel to Mexico
There are many activities for tourists in Mexico that will ensure a thrilling and exciting vacation. With the help of our travel guide, you will not only save time, but will be able to plan your vacation so that you are able to have loads of hassle free fun.
As a tourist you need to visit Mexico City, and Monterrey, with its beautiful colonial buildings.
Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Morelia, and Guanajuato are also worth visiting, as are San Miguel de Allende, Quererato, San Luis Potosi and Aguascalientes. Include Merida and Zacatecas in your itinerary.
If you are the type of person who enjoys being at the beach, Puerto Escondido is worth a visit, or spend some time at Zipolite on the Oaxaca coast. The beaches at Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen are also popular destinations.
There are numerous archaeology sites in Mexico for archaeology enthusiasts. Visit ancient Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza. You will also want to see Palenque, El Tajin and Monte Alban.
Mexican cuisine is renowned for its intense and varied flavors. The colourful garnishes, and wide variety of spices used are typical of Mexican cuisine. While on vacation in Mexico you will have to sample the popular enchiladas, tamales, tortillas, and quesadillas. The world famous traditional Mexican beverage tequila is worth trying at least once. If tequila is too strong, try the milder michelada, a unique beverage prepared by combining lime juice and beer.
As a tourist, you will want to buy gifts and souvenirs. Pottery plates, serving dishes, vases and tiles are popular, as are woodcarvings, woollen rugs, and basketry.
At Cancun, situated at the Riviera Maya, or at Cozumel, you will be able to participate in scuba diving, or just go snorkelling in some of the best snorkelling locations in the world. Hiking in the many mountains is another option, or, just play golf.
Mexicans love to party, and as a stress reliever, there is nothing better than a Mexican party. Use our travel guide to plan your vacation to Mexico to coincide with a holiday or festival, and be assured of a vacation full of local color.
