Mexico City (Spanish: Ciudad de México audio American Spanish: [sjuˈða(ð) ðe ˈméxiko]; abbreviated as "CDMX") is the capital of Mexico. Mexico City is the country's largest city as well as its most important political, cultural, educational and financial center.
As an "alpha" global city Mexico City is one of the most important financial centers in the Americas. It is located in the Valley of Mexico (Valle de México), a large valley in the high plateaus at the center of Mexico, at an altitude of 2,240 metres (7,350 ft). The city consists of sixteen municipalities (previously called boroughs).
The 2009 estimated population for the city proper was around 8.84 million people, with a land area of 1,485 square kilometres (573 sq mi). According to the most recent definition agreed upon by the federal and state governments, the Greater Mexico City population is 21.2 million people, making it the largest metropolitan area in the western hemisphere, the eleventh-largest agglomeration, and the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world.

Mexico (i/ˈmɛksᵻkoʊ/; Spanish: México [ˈmexiko]), officially the United Mexican States (Spanish: Estados Unidos Mexicanos, listen ), is a federal republic in North America. It is bordered on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Covering almost two million square kilometres (over 760,000 sq mi), Mexico is the fifth largest country in the Americas by total area and the 13th largest independent nation in the world. With an estimated population of over 120 million, it is the eleventh most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world and the second most populous country in Latin America. Mexico is a federation comprising thirty-two states, including Mexico City, its capital and largest city, which is also a state.
A black comedy (or dark comedy) is a comic work that employs morbid humor, which, in its simplest form, is humor that makes light of subject matter usually considered taboo. Black humor corresponds to the earlier concept of gallows humor. Black comedy is often controversial due to its subject matter.
The term black humor (from the French humour noir) was coined by the surrealist theorist André Breton in 1935 to label a sub-genre of comedy and satire in which laughter arises from cynicism and skepticism, often relying on topics such as death.
Breton coined the term for his book Anthology of Black Humor (Anthologie de l'humour noir), in which he credited Jonathan Swift as the originator of black humor and gallows humor, and included excerpts from 45 other writers. Breton included both examples in which the wit arises from a victim with which the audience empathizes, as is more typical in the tradition of gallows humor, and examples in which the comedy is used to mock the victim. This victim's suffering is trivialized, which leads to sympathizing with the victimizer, as is the case with Sade. Black humor is related to that of the grotesque genre.

Mexico City’s colors run deepest in the main square, the Zócalo, once the epicenter of the Mexican Civilization. Today, this area is presided over by a temple of a different kind, The Metropolitan Cathedral. Throughout the Centro Histórico district, over 1500 heritage buildings vie for your attention. The streets of this district overflow with museums and galleries. For a window into the life and color of yesteryear, visit the fabulous Museo Franz Mayer. For a change of color, head to Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park is home to cultural institutions such as the ...

Watch Diego Sanchez talk to the crowd in Mexico after his win over Marcin Held.
Life in the Mexican capital throws up many obstacles, but as we found out in the return of our long-running film series, a small number of dedicated people are trying to build an electronic music scene in one of the world's most chaotic cities. Mexico City is one of the largest and most vibrant metropolises in the world, but its electronic music scene has yet to truly flourish. It's a city where vast inequality, crime and widespread corruption are everyday realities, and where nightclubs are largely reserved for the moneyed elites. For those who put music first, there are many obstacles—a lack of venues, a limited audience, very little financial gain. Whether you're putting on parties, releasing music or hustling for gigs, making ends meet is a constant struggle. But the issue also runs ...

Travel video about destination Mexico City in Mexico. Mexico City is a vivid metropolis and cosmopolitan city situated on a plateau in the central highlands at an altitude of 2, 286 metres, where the food is spicy and the Tequila flows freely! The city's fascinating history is reflected in both its art and architecture with age old charm, Indian roots and elegant buildings. Until the Spanish conquest, the Templo Mayor was the setting of coronations and human sacrifice. The remains of the walls within which thousands of priests once lived are only a few steps from the buildings of the country's former Spanish conquerors. Construction of the country's largest cathedral, the Catedral Metropolitana, took 250 years. The lower section is quite plain but the upper section is of Baroque and Neo-...
Charlie, a Local Guide from New York City, travels to Mexico City for the first time. There, he meets Ernesto and they explore the city's food scene, climb to the top of a pyramid, and much more.
While traveling to Mexico City, we saw parks, street vendors, museums, historic places, restaurants, Teotihuacan pyramids, dogs, the Metro, lots of art, and much more. Some of the restaurants we tried included: Casa Virginia, Lalo!, Los Danzantes, Restaurante Oaxaca en Mexico, Contramar, and others. We got around mostly by Uber, lots of walking, and the Metro (subway). Mexico City is a vibrant and very cosmopolitan city. While most "gringos" fear that Mexico City is dangerous and dirty, it is quite the opposite. The city seemed very safe and clean. The parks and walkable neighborhoods are terrific. There are countless coffee shops, restaurants, boutique stores, galleries, museums, and more. We stayed at a fantastic little bed and breakfast called The Red Tree House located in the La Cond...

The grim reality has taken a twisted turn in favor of
those who stand unapologetic
Fanatics attack the structures of society –
Preserving their faith as champions of morality
Performing God’s work on earth
What if we let ourselves be held hostage to the
rhetoric of irreconcilable values?
Hypocrites profound, denouncing all in their way
Poisoning children’s minds to maintain their position
through moral retribution reproducing lies
The irony is as real as it is tragic – religious
zealots mobilize to bring on the second coming
Their strain of fascist idealism meticulously designed
to advance their own salvation (Ignite a war!)
And is the end result holier than the means?
A pathetic attempt to restore some human dignity?
Paradox of democracy, allowing those whom seek to
destroy it to exert their claims as we stand by and
tolerate it as faith…
Sic Transit Gloria Mundi
We’re all in the same boat that barely floats
Yet true believers drive to see us drown
Fighting evil with evil – we choose replicate
History has a sordid-way of repeating itself
Why can we never see this for ourselves?
Delusions of grandeur, since when did God represent
peace and love?
Throughout the ages minions legitimized enemies shall
pay with blood
Conformed rationale – self-righteous response
Judge they’d rather see the world burn, than the fully
of what they believe
Waiting for their prayers to be heard and observed
Manipulating the highest quarters of political power
Arrogance, ignorance, in such lethal combination
Blind adherence to these words has come to signify…
How enmeshed we are in lies – Odium by default
Until the End
Programmed to the hate
Awaiting godsend
As the world’s wars join as one
