Daniel Kramer

Daniel Kramer (born January 15, 1977) is an American a theatre, opera and dance director.

Biography

Kramer was born on sheep farm in Wadsworth, Ohio, USA. He graduated salutatorian from Wadsworth High School. At Northwestern University, he earned a BGS in Interdisciplinary Arts: Theatre, Performance Studies and Dance with a Music Theatre Certificate, graduating Summa cum laude. He then pursued three years of practical graduate studies at the L'Ecole de Mime Corporeal Dramatique - the technique of Etienne Decroux in London; commedia dell'arte with Maestro Antonia Fava in Italy; and finally London's Circus Space.

"My Friend" is a song by English electronica duo Groove Armada, released as the second single released from their third studio album, Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub). The song features vocals by Celetia Martin and contains a sample from "Gotta Learn How to Dance" by Fatback Band and samples a drum break from Skull Snaps' "It's a New Day". The lyrics are an interpolation from Brandy's 1995 hit "Best Friend". The song was featured in a Dutch television commercial for Royal Club soft drinks in 2002, which resulted in a re-release of the single in the Netherlands and a higher charting in the Dutch singles charts than the year before.

"Daniel" is a major hit song and ballad by Elton John. It appeared on the 1973 album Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player. It was written by John and his lyricist Bernie Taupin. In the United Kingdom, the song reached no. 4 in the official chart. In the USA the song reached No. 2 on the pop charts and No. 1 on the adult contemporary charts for two weeks in the spring of 1973. In the United States, it was certified Gold on 13 September 1995 by the RIAA. In Canada, it became his second No. 1 single, following "Crocodile Rock" earlier in the year, holding the position for two weeks in the RPM 100 national singles chart. Writers John and Taupin received the 1973 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Composition

Bernie Taupin wrote "Daniel" after reading an article in either Time or Newsweek about a Vietnam War veteran who had been wounded, and wanted to get away from the attention he was receiving when he went back home. A verse in the original draft was cut from the final version, which has led to some speculation on the contents.
