Vajubhai Vala is the current Cabinet Minister in BJP ministry of Gujarat state of India. He is minister of Finance, Labour & Employment. He was elected to Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Rajkot .
He was also the Mayor of Rajkot before contesting for the state elections. he has been the finance minister for two terms in the Modi government. He has 2 daughters, 2 sons, and 1 grand-sons.
Shankersinh Vaghela (born July 21, 1940) is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India and served as the Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles from 2004 to 2009. He represented the Kapadvanj constituency of Gujarat and is a member of the Indian National Congress. He was also Chief Minister of Gujarat from 1996 to 1997.
Vaghela was born in Vasan, Gandhinagar District, in Gujarat. He was elected to the 6th Lok Sabha in 1977; from 1977 to 1980 he was Vice-President of the Janata Party in Gujarat, and from 1980 to 1991 he was General Secretary and President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1984 to 1989. In 1989 he was elected to the 9th Lok Sabha, and in 1991 he was re-elected to the 10th Lok Sabha. From 1996 to 1997 he was a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He rebelled from BJP, made his own government and served as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Later he joined the Congress. He was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 and re-elected to the 14th Lok Sabha in 2004, becoming Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles on May 23, 2004. In 2009, he was candidate from Panchmahal for 15th Lok Sabha, but he lost to Prabhansinh Chouhan of BJP.
Narendra Damodardas Modi (Gujarati: નરેન્દ્ર મોદી; born 17 September 1950) is the current Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat. Born in a middle class family in Vadnagar, he was the third of six children born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and his wife Heeraben. He has been a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood also having interest in politics since adolescence. He holds a master's degree in political science. In 1998, he was chosen by L. K. Advani, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to direct the election campaign in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh.
He became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001, promoted to the office at a time when his predecessor Keshubhai Patel had resigned, following the defeat of BJP in the by-elections. His tenure as chief minister of Gujarat began on 7 October 2001, and he is the longest serving Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat. In July 2007 he became the longest serving Chief Minister in Gujarat's history when he had been in power for 2063 days continuously. He was elected again for a third term on 23 December 2007 in the state elections, which he had cast as a "referendum on his rule".
