Tropical Storm Barry expected to bring heavy rainfall, possible flooding to Louisiana
Tropical Storm Barry Highlights (11 a.m. ET Thursday):
The tropical disturbance brewing in the Gulf of Mexico has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Barry.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, it was located about 95 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
Meteorologists are warning about dangerous storm surge, heavy rains and windy conditions that are expected across the north-central Gulf Coast of the United States.
Heavy rains and flooding are already being reported over parts of southeastern Louisiana, where a state of emergency has been declared.
Additional strengthening is expected, and Barry could become a hurricane late Friday or early Saturday.
A tornado or two is possible Thursday or Friday across parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.

Tropical Storm Nestor forms in Gulf of Mexico
Tropical Storm Nestor has finally formed in The Gulf of Mexico. There are no big changes to the forecast. Minimal impacts are expected in Southeast Louisiana.
A tropical storm warning is in effect from Grand Isle, Louisiana to the mouth of the Pearl River and the Mississippi-Alabama line to Yankeetown, Florida.
The disturbance is forecast to get better organized Friday. Hurricane Hunters will investigate this system throughout the day. It will continue moving northeast before making landfall near Panama City, Florida Saturday morning as a subtropical storm. Then it will continue moving northeast across the Southeast United States providing some much-needed rain.

Tropical Storm Warning issued for Louisiana coast
The National Hurricane Center issued tropical storm warnings for parts of the Gulf Coast on Thursday, including coastal areas of three Louisiana parishes.
The 10 a.m. Thursday forecast track for "Potential Tropical Cyclone 16" shows the low will be moving northeast before becoming Tropical Storm Nestor.
Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect from Grand Isle, Louisiana to the mouth of the Pearl River. A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area within 36 hours.
