The "Nile lechwe", "wasserbock" or "Mrs Gray's lechwe" or "waterbuck" is a species of antelope in the genus "Kobus" in the family Bovidae. It was first described by Leopold Fitzinger in 1855. Nile lechwe stand 90 - at the shoulder and weigh from 70 -.
Nile lechwe are a herbivores, feeding on foliage, grasses, fruits, and twigs. They are gregarious, and form large, loose herds. They are found in floodplains in Southern Sudan and far southwestern Ethiopia.
The species is native to Ethiopia and Sudan. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN, and its population is gradually decreasing.
Males are an average of 165 cm long and 100 - tall at the shoulders, and weigh between 90 and, while females are an average of 135 cm long, 80 - tall at the shoulders, and weigh 60 -. Nile lechwes live an average of 10 to 11.5 years, and most uncommonly 19 years.
Their coats are shaggy with the hair on the cheeks particularly long in both sexes, and males may have even longer hair on their necks. Nile lechwe exhibit extreme sexual dimorphism. Females are golden-brown with white underbellies and no horns. Males are chocolate brown to russet with white 'hoods' over their shoulders and small white patches over their eyes.
They have long, ridge-structured horns which are vaguely 'S'-shaped in profile. The horns, 50 - long, are strongly ridged at their bases and are curved at the tips. Yearlings are usually infected by warble flies, which can also make them unhealthy.
Nile lechwe can visually signal and vocalize to communicate with each other. They rear high in the air in front of their opponents and turn their heads to the side while displaying. Females are quite loud, making a toad-like croaking when moving. When fighting, males duck their heads and use their horns to push against each other. If one male is significantly smaller than the other, he may move next to the larger male in a parallel position and push from there, which prevents the larger male from pushing with all his force. Known predators are humans, lions, crocodiles, Cape hunting dogs and leopards. They flee to water if disturbed, but females defend their offspring from smaller predators by direct attack, mainly kicking.

The calf, named Kianga (pronounced Key-AN-ga), which means sunshine in Swahili, was born Oct. 13 to mom, Kacy, and father, Maoto (pronounced May-O-toe). This is the pair’s second calf. The first, a two-and-a-half year-old male named Kayode (pronounced Kay-O-dee), shares the habitat with his parents and baby sister—but mom isn’t letting brother, father, or any of the other rhinos in the crash too near her new offspring.

“Kacy is a very attentive and protective mother,” stated Tina Hunter, senior keeper, San Diego Zoo Safari Park. “She is fairly tolerant of the other rhinos being curious about the baby, but she is definitely keeping them at a distance. She is going to have her work cut out for her, as Kianga is rambunctious, has lots of energy and is a very curious little calf.”
Estimated to weigh around 120 pounds, the little ungulate with big feet will nurse from her mother for up to 12 months; she is expected to gain about 100 pounds a month for the first year. When full grown, at around three years of age, she could weigh between 4,000 to 5,000 pounds.
There are an estimated 18,000 southern white rhinos remaining in the wild. The southern white rhino is classified as “near threatened,” due to poaching threats and illegal use of rhino horn. Currently, a rhino dies every eight hours in South Africa due to poaching. Rhinos are poached for their horn, which is made of keratin—the same material that forms human fingernails. Rhino horn has been erroneously thought to have medicinal value and is used in traditional remedies in some Asian cultures. In addition, objects made of rhino horn have more recently become a “status symbol,” purchased to display someone’s success and wealth, because the rhino is now so rare.

The "kob" is an antelope found across sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal to South Sudan. Found along the northern savanna, it is often seen in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda; Garamba and Virunga National Park, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as grassy floodplains of South Sudan.
Kob are found in wet areas , where they eat grasses. Kob are diurnal, but inactive during the heat of the day. They live in groups of either females and calves or just males. These groups generally range from five to 40 animals.
Among the kobs of eastern Africa, the Ugandan kob appears on the coat of arms of Uganda, and white-eared kobs , found in South Sudan, southwest Ethiopia, and extreme northeast Uganda, participate in large-scale migrations.
The kob resembles the impala but is more robust. However, males are more robust than females and have horns. Males have shoulder heights of 90 - and an average weight of 94 kg. Females have shoulder heights of 82 - and weigh on average 63 kg. The pelage of the kob is typically golden to reddish-brown overall, but with the throat patch, eye ring, and inner ear being white, and the forelegs being black at the front. Males get darker as they get older. Those of the white-eared kob , which is found in the Sudd region , are strikingly different and overall dark, rather similar to the male Nile lechwe, though with a white throat and no pale patch from the nape to the shoulder. Both sexes have well-developed inguinal glands that secrete a yellow, waxy substance, as well as preorbital glands.

History[edit]
The zoo features a big cat house. Lions, pumas, black and spotted leopards and jaguars are found here. In addition to this, it also has a reptile house, monkey compounds, aquarium and aviary. From February 2010 until July 2010, the Al Ain Zoo hosted the "Dinosaur Trail", a small section which includes around 15 to 20 mechanical dinosaurs with sensors such as the T-Rex as well as information about the dinosaur such as when they lived, which parts of the (current) world they would have been found, their height, diet, etc.[citation needed]
There is a bird show featuring Predatory birds and night birds that lasts 30 min starting at 7 PM.The dinosaur trail is open until 8PM. Wheelchairs are available on request.
To walk around the zoo and see all the animals would take approximately 2 hours (the Dinosaur Trail should not take longer than 10 to 15 minutes, inclusive of taking photographs).
The zoo also has a "train" with open carriages. It does not enter the "yellow" section which hosts the African Lion, Bengal Tiger, Chimpanzee, Puma, Salt water crocodile, Panther, Nile Crocodile and Leopard. The Al Ain Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals, with at least 30% of its 180 species considered endangered. Conservation efforts have been strengthened by partnerships with San Diego Zoo. This 900 hectare park near the base of Jebel Hafeet is where visitors can see a large animal collection in enclosures that closely resemble their natural habitats. There are plenty of green public spaces for picnics and also playgrounds, a cafeteria and a train tour of the wildlife area. Giraffe feeding, camel riding and ‘Elezba’ petting zoo are the latest interactive activities. Visitors can enjoy feeding the giraffe treats such as carrots or lettuce five times daily in a special area. Designed in the style of a local farm, the ‘Elezba’ petting zoo lets families feed and play with sheep, goats, camels, llamas, chicken and ducks, enjoy camel riding or picnic in a designated area. A fun-filled, outdoor learning scheme designed to inspire children with a love for biodiversity, this garden beauty of plants. The garden features a rolling hill, mixed use play areas, picnic spots, a flower garden and native plant garden with species indigenous to the UAE, a recycling garden and a vegetable, fruit and herb garden. With spectacular African Baobab trees framing the area, the towering trunks offer a genuine horticulture lesson in how specific plants can adapt to dry soil conditions.

Of course, the exhibits will not look very well but that's the challenge on this challenge (lol xD) to make the best out of the 3min you have. All music I use is free useable and free licenseable.
Sorry for the low sound, I will turn it louder the next time.
The new format is explained in the video, the goal is to fill the map with 3min-exhibits, a little challenge between the other projects. ;)
I try hard to get finsihed a whole and beautiful zoo in the next time. There are many projects at the same time in work, so if you wait a while, maybe there will be lots of videos at the same time on this channel. :P
