We flew into
Florida from
Buffalo, New York the day before and stay at a hotel near the beach in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The hotel we stayed at was called
The Reef. It was pretty nice. We had a shuttle pick us up from our hotel in the morning and drive us to
Port Everglades where we boarded the Regal Princess. This cruise was a 7 night cruise taking us through the Caribbean to
Princess Cays,
St. Thomas and
St. Maarten. We boarded the cruise ship and walked through the lobby and casino before making our way to the
Horizon food court buffet on the
Lido deck for some lunch. The food there was great. After lunch we found our room. Our group had booked 3 obstructed view balcony rooms for $799. Our rooms were
E514, E604 and E617 on the
Emerald deck. Our cabins were very nice. The bed was a good side and so was the bathroom. The room also had a fridge, couch and flat screen tv. The tv had lots of great movies and tv shows on demand which was awesome. After we checked out our staterooms we had to do the mandatory ship safety drill. It was then time to set sail from
Ft. Lauderdale. The ships horn was pretty funny as it was the
Love Boat theme song. After we were at sea we checked out the pools, hot tubs, running track, exercise equipment,
Internet cafe and bars. We did a bit of pre dinner dining on the pool deck at the Prego Pizzeria and it was fantastic
Italian style pizza. After our snack we made our way back to our room and had a bit of a nap. I watched some of the
Lego movie and drank one of the beers I had snuck on to the ship. We have a pretty good technique how to sneak some extra booze on the cruise ship. You are allowed to bring on a bottle of wine per person which is nice. We then made our way to the lobby for some musical entertainment and window shopping at the
Effy and Swarovski jewelry stores. We also looked at the menu for the Sabatini's restaurant. We had the late dining time at the
Allegro dining room so we started to make our way to the back of the ship for our dinner. Dinner was great. I had a shrimp cocktail, potato chowder, crawfish and chocolate cake.
Nicole had some chicken broth soup,
Caesar salad, some basa fish and traditional
New York style cheesecake for dessert. After dinner we made our way back to our room and ordered our room service breakfast for the next morning.
