Passengers deal with man 'abusing Spanish visitors on tram' in brilliant fashion
The man allegedly launched a tirade at the two Spaniards - but found himself in the minority when locals intervened
This is the moment furious passengers unite to deal with a man allegedly abusing foreign visitors on a tram in Manchester.
Video footage shows a man, in a grey hoodie and blue jeans, being confronted about his behaviour.
Witnesses told the Manchester Evening News he told a Spanish couple to ‘speak English’, and to ‘go back to their own country’.
On the recording we hear one fellow passenger tackle the man about his comments, before the man replies with a question about his challenger’s ethnicity and sexual orientation.
The man, who is not seen in the recording, replies that he is gay and asks why that should make any difference.
Another Good Samaritan is captured on camera also helping to stand up for the Spaniards by telling the man that he will call the police if he ‘carries on being racist’.
He says: “It is unacceptable in this country and this day and age. I think everyone else on this tram would agree.
“It is not on.”
And after being tackled on his outbursts, the man remains silent.
The footage was captured by Manchester resident Jose, who is originally from Peru but moved to the country three years ago to study for an MBA at Manchester University .
He says he wanted to share it to show how amazing the people of Manchester are because they stood up to the man.
Jose, who did not wish to give his full name, said: “The couple were speaking Spanish and this guy was saying ‘speak English’.
“They said they would speak in whatever language they wanted and so he said ‘go back to your own country’, it was disgusting. He was being very abusive.
“But the reaction from the people on the tram was amazing, for them to stand up to him and tell him it was not on.
“You would only get a reaction like that in England, in fact I was speaking to the Spanish guy that had been attacked and he said that to me. He said that no one would have bothered to help someone in that way other than in Britain.
“As soon as he was challenged the guy just shut up and didn’t say anything else. Hopefully he will think twice about being like that in the future – and know that people in Manchester won’t put up with it.”

A tram (also known. as a tramcar, streetcar, trolley car) is a passenger rail vehicle which runs on tracks along public urban streets and also sometimes on separate rights of way. It may also run between cities and/or towns (interurbans, tram-train), and/or partially grade separated even in the cities (light rail). Trams very occasionally also carry freight.
Trams are usually lighter and shorter than conventional trains and rapid transit trains. However, the differences between these modes of public transportation are often unclear. Some trams (for instance tram-trains) may also run on ordinary railway tracks, a tramway may be upgraded to a light rail or a rapid transit line, two urban tramways may be united to an interurban, etc.
Most trams today use electrical power, usually fed by a pantograph; in some cases by a sliding shoe on a third rail or trolley pole. If necessary, they may have several power systems. Certain types of cable car are also known as trams. Another power source is diesel; a few trams use electricity in the streets and diesel in more rural environments. Also steam and petrol (gasoline) have been used. Horse and mule driven trams do still occur.

Lisez la description pou découvrir les particularité de réseau ! A Amsterdam la tramway est très différent de ce que l'on connait en France: - Les rames n'ont qu'un seul poste de conduite. - Un guichetier est pratiquement toujours présent dans les trams, et si il ne l'est pas on peut acheter les tickets au conducteur. - Il y a énormément de ligne qui circulent non pas en "étoile" vers le centre mais en cercle autour de la ville (là bas les trams sont comme nos bus..). C'est pour ça que 5 rames peuvent se suivre à 2m d'intervalle... - Il n'y a pas de signalisation pour les vitesses (qui sont beaucoup plus élevées) et les trams n'ont pas la priorité aux feux ou même devant les piétons ou les nombreux vélos (le temps de parcours est assez élevé par rapport à la France) - La validation se fait aussi à la sortie ! - Pour que la rame s’arrête aux arrêts il faut appuyer sur un bouton comme dans les bus. -La montée se fait par 2 portes l'avant et devant le guichet (pas très simples quand il y a du monde...) Voila toute les particularités de ce Tramway ! Bon visionnage ! In Amsterdam tram is heel anders dan wat we weten in Frankrijk: - De treinen hebben een enkele cabine. - Een bank teller is bijna altijd aanwezig op de trams, en als het niet kunt u kaartjes kopen aan de bestuurder. - Er is veel van de lijn die niet circuleren "ster" naar het centrum, maar in een cirkel rond de stad (daar trams zijn net als onze bus ..). Dat is de reden waarom 5 treinen kunnen volgen op 2m tussenpozen ... - Er zijn geen tekenen van de snelheden (die veel hoger zijn) en trams hebben voorrang niet bij verkeerslichten of zelfs voor voetgangers of meerdere fietsen (reistijd is vrij hoog in vergelijking met France) - De validatie is ook gedaan naar de uitgang! - Voor de trein stopt bij de haltes moet je op een knop drukt als in de bus. -De Rise is door middel van 2 deuren voor en de receptie (niet erg eenvoudig wanneer er in de wereld ...) Veel plezier! A Amsterdam la tramway est très différent de ce que l'on connait en France: - Les rames n'ont qu'un seul poste de conduite. - Un guichetier est pratiquement toujours présent dans les trams, et si il ne l'est pas on peut acheter les tickets au conducteur. - Il y a énormément de ligne qui circulent non pas en "étoile" vers le centre mais en cercle autour de la ville (là bas les trams sont comme nos bus..). Passengers deal with man 'abusing Spanish visitors on tram' in brilliant fashion
The man allegedly launched a tirade at the two Spaniards - but found himself in the minority when locals intervened
This is the moment furious passengers unite to deal with a man allegedly abusing foreign visitors on a tram in Manchester.
Video footage shows a man, in a grey hoodie and blue jeans, being confronted about his behaviour.
Witnesses told the Manchester Evening News he told a Spanish couple to ‘speak English’, and to ‘go back to their own country’.
On the recording we hear one fellow passenger tackle the man about his comments, before the man replies with a question about his challenger’s ethnicity and sexual orientation.
The man, who is not seen in the recording, replies that he is gay and asks why that should make any difference.
Another Good Samaritan is captured on camera also helping to stand up for the Spaniards by telling the man that he will call the police if he ‘carries on being racist’.
He says: “It is unacceptable in this country and this day and age. I think everyone else on this tram would agree.
“It is not on.”
And after being tackled on his outbursts, the man remains silent.
The footage was captured by Manchester resident Jose, who is originally from Peru but moved to the country three years ago to study for an MBA at Manchester University .
He says he wanted to share it to show how amazing the people of Manchester are because they stood up to the man.
Jose, who did not wish to give his full name, said: “The couple were speaking Spanish and this guy was saying ‘speak English’.
“They said they would speak in whatever language they wanted and so he said ‘go back to your own country’, it was disgusting. He was being very abusive.
“But the reaction from the people on the tram was amazing, for them to stand up to him and tell him it was not on.
“You would only get a reaction like that in England, in fact I was speaking to the Spanish guy that had been attacked and he said that to me. He said that no one would have bothered to help someone in that way other than in Britain.
“As soon as he was challenged the guy just shut up and didn’t say anything else. Hopefully he will think twice about being like that in the future – and know that people in Manchester won’t put up with it.”

A Amsterdam la tramway est très différent de ce que l'on connait en France:
- Les rames n'ont qu'un seul poste de conduite.
- Un guichetier est pratiquement toujours présent dans les trams, et si il ne l'est pas on peut acheter les tickets au conducteur.
- Il y a énormément de ligne qui circulent non pas en "étoile" vers le centre mais en cercle autour de la ville (là bas les trams sont comme nos bus..). C'est pour ça que 5 rames peuvent se suivre à 2m d'intervalle...
- Il n'y a pas de signalisation pour les vitesses (qui sont beaucoup plus élevées) et les trams n'ont pas la priorité aux feux ou même devant les piétons ou les nombreux vélos (le temps de parcours est assez élevé par rapport à la France)
- La validation se fait aussi à la sortie !
- Pour que la rame s’arrête aux arrêts il faut appuyer sur un bouton comme dans les bus.
-La montée se fait par 2 portes l'avant et devant le guichet (pas très simples quand il y a du monde...)

- Een bank teller is bijna altijd aanwezig op de trams, en als het niet kunt u kaartjes kopen aan de bestuurder.
- Er is veel van de lijn die niet circuleren "ster" naar het centrum, maar in een cirkel rond de stad (daar trams zijn net als onze bus ..). Dat is de reden waarom 5 treinen kunnen volgen op 2m tussenpozen ...
- Er zijn geen tekenen van de snelheden (die veel hoger zijn) en trams hebben voorrang niet bij verkeerslichten of zelfs voor voetgangers of meerdere fietsen (reistijd is vrij hoog in vergelijking met France)
- De validatie is ook gedaan naar de uitgang!
- Voor de trein stopt bij de haltes moet je op een knop drukt als in de bus.
-De Rise is door middel van 2 deuren voor en de receptie (niet erg eenvoudig wanneer er in de wereld ...)
