There are several near extinct species of animals or endangered species that may need our attention very soon. Majority of the reasons these animals are endangered and near extinct related to us humans. There are factors such as poaching, illegal hunting, stealing, and eating that have led to several animals in nature on the edge of extinction. This particular post is dedicated to a few of those animals that are in imminent danger of becoming extinct. Without further ado, here’s presenting 10 near extinct species of animals. 10. Black-Footed Ferret. The first on our list of near extinct species of animals is the Black-Footed Ferret. It is native to North American Great Plains. This is the only native ferret in the entire continent, and as luck would have it, it is near extinct. In the year 1986, only 18 of these ferrets remained in the wild, but they fought back. As of now, 1,000 of these creatures live but they are still endangered, critically. 9. Chinese Giant Salamander. This particular creature can grow up to around 6 feet and is the world’s largest amphibian that we know of. It is very common on China, which is why it has the name. This magnificent creature can lay up to over 500 eggs at one time. These eggs are laid underwater. 8. Leatherback Sea Turtle. This magnificent, has the honor of being the largest turtle on Earth. It swims all across the global oceans and is not confined to particularly one territory. As you would know, turtles lay their eggs on sand beaches, and their eggs can be found all over the world during mating season. Their population dwindled by an enormous amount in only a few years. 7. Hawaiian Monk Seal. These are few of those intelligent animals that, naturally, live quite far away from humans. Their numbers however are on a continuous decline. According to reports, only less than a 1,000 of these beautiful creatures remain in the wild. It is assumed that since they have been living far from humans, it has to be climatic conditions that have led to their continuous decline in population. 6. Vaquita. This particular creature lives in the ocean. It is very rare and they are a species of Porpoise. They are native to the Gulf of Mexico and California. Gill net fishing the prime cause which has left these creatures down to the verge of extinction. It has been estimated that over 50 of these beautiful sea creatures are ‘accidentally’ killed because of gill fishing. 5. Sumatran Tiger. Of all the wild cats, tigers, in our list, are right up there with lions and cheetahs. They are incredibly gorgeous animals unfortunately, Sumatran Tiger is one of the near extinct species of animals. These tigers are native to Indonesia and only a little over 500 remain in the wild. This tiger has been in existence for over a million years but due to human expansions, these tigers face extinction. There are a few that are living in reserves and 100 of these tigers are beyond the protected areas, pretty much unmonitored. 4. Kakapo Parrot. Parrots are by far one of the more intelligent species of birds humans have come across primarily because of their ability to copy human speech and understand it after a given amount of time. Not all parrots can speak and this particular species, is critically endangered. This parrot is native to New Zealand and it is very unique. It can weigh up to around 4 kilograms. The most interesting thing about this specie is that this is the only one which cannot fly. 3. Giant Panda. It is common knowledge that the Giant Panda is one of the near extinct species of animals. It is such a shame too because they are one of the more beautiful creatures to ever roam the surface of this Earth. These animals are native to Asian forests primarily in China. Pandas have seen a rapid decline in their population and now less than a 2,000 remain. A large percentage of these 2,000 Pandas is kept in captivity in order to ensure their survival. The bears however, are not really happy to be bred in captivity. Then there is the problem of their reproduction. They don’t seem very motivated to reproduce. 2. Mountain Gorilla. These are the largest of the four species of Gorilla. They can be found in the highlands of east-central Africa. These animals are confined to two relatively small areas which is why they are left very vulnerable to threats from humans. In the region where these mountain gorillas dwell, wars are very common due to poverty and poverty, as such, has given rise to illegal hunting of these near extinct animals for food. 1. Javan Rhinoceros. The final entry on our list of near extinct species of animals is the Javan Rhinoceros. It is native to Indonesia and Vietnam. It can be considered as one of Earth’s largest mammals which is critically endangered. According to reports, lesser than a 60 of these beautiful animals remain. Unfortunately, developers deem their inhabited forests worthy of development, and poachers are always after their horns.
