The bear is a common charge in heraldry, perhaps inherited from its totemic use among Germanic peoples and by some interpreted as symbolizing strength, cunning and ferocity in the protection of one's kindred. Numerous cities around the world have adopted the bear in their arms, notably the Swiss capital Bern, which takes its name from the German for bear, Bär. The bear is similarly the name-emblem of Berlin, through false etymology (Bärlein means 'small bear'), although in fact the city's name descends from a Slavic word for swamps.
In Switzerland, the heraldic bears in a coat of arms had to be painted with bright red penises, or would be mocked as being she-bears. In 1579, a calendar printed in St. Gallen omitted the genitals from the heraldic bear of Appenzell, nearly leading to war between the two cantons.
The saddled bear of Saint Corbinian's legend is the heraldic symbol of Freising, Bavaria, and the Diocese of Munich and Freising. Pope Benedict XVI, former archbishop of Munich, also applied it in his Papal Arms.
The Double Headed Eagle Documentary So the various countries the past did not have a single artists to come up with an original idea and that is why they all had the same coat of arms? Was one of the first animals to be deified and has the most primitive aspects of worship among the Indo-Europeans. The bear is a national emblem of Russia and was the symbol of Persia. Several cities around the world have adopted the bear as a symbol, namely the Swiss capital Bern, where the Germanic root "ber" means "bear." The bear is also the symbol of Berl...
In Scotland, an "armigerous clan" is a clan without a chief, which is therefore said to bear a coat of arms collectively, rather than having a chief who bears the arms. The validity of this term is dubious, since under Scottish heraldic law, it is impossible for two men to use the same coat of arms, let alone an entire clan of people. In a clan with a chief, only the chief bears the undifferenced arms; his kinsmen must add some kind of differencing mark so they can be distinguished. For example, in a clan where the chief bore the arms azure, a fess or, a clansman could add symbols above and below the fess. According to those who subscribe to the concept of "armigerous clans", if the chief were to die without an heir, everyone in the clan would then bear azure, a fess or. This would effecti...

Anyone stealing these riffs and lyrics are subject to Sahuagin devourment. Lyrics: Dragged from the surface captured by Sahuagin Whispered enchantments allowing me to breathe the sea Their nets entangle with orders to subdue by cruel tridents my flesh is punctured and removed suffering as all hope abandons me under the reef, trapped like a beast by scaled fiends! My prison lies beneath! The birthing chamber where hatchlings feed starving for fresh meat I hear them scream For my viscera the babies lust Waiting below The meat they cry for subdued by hooks and nets They drag me t...
Balvaird Castle 03/01/201 BALVAIRD CASTLE A residence for newly-weds Balvaird offers a fine illustration of the way in which a 16th-century landowner’s fortified house could provide a good degree of security for its occupants while at the same time affording them a high level of comfort. We do not know who built the impressive four-storey tower house. However, heraldry above the tower’s front entrance bears the impaled arms of Sir Andrew Murray and Dame Margaret Barclay, heiress of the baronies of Arngask and Kippo, which included Balvaird. Perhaps they built it as their marital home following their wedding, around 1495. A complete tower-house castle Balvaird is unusual among Scottish tower houses in that it retains all the elements that comprised a residence of the landed gentry in the...
Luxe, from the latin word luxus bears the meaning of elegance and sumptuous. Brands attain the status of "luxury goods" due to their design, quality, durability or performance that are remarkably superior to the comparable substitutes. Gold, or in heraldic terms "or," was considered the noblest color. One of only two metals used in heraldry, it exceeds all others in value, purity and finesse. It represents the light of the sun, and was once borne only by princes. Gold is said to gladden the heart and destroy all works of magic. It is also associated with excellence and achievement, and the bearer surpasses all others in valour. It is represented in engravings by an indefinite number of small points.
