Filmed over 10 years ago and saved from oblivion: Is it possible to do Alligator "fishing" with an R/C helicopter? Croc expert and fellow R/C pilot "Dave" took us onto a trip deep into the Florida Everglades(*) to find out! (He's an experienced animal handler BTW; none of the Crocs has been or would have been harmed, so please don't state the contrary, it simply isn't true)
Heli of the day was a trusty old Skyfox with wooden blades. Won't do damage to an alligator (just in case) and wouldn't be a real loss either should it crash into the swamp. Overall a favorite Legacy action. Time passes so quickly (sigh) ...
(*) Okay okay, as some of the very sharp-eyed viewers among you have already noticed: it wasn't filmed in Florida. But we liked the Hillbilly character so much and it fit so well that the connection made sense; so we simply put the name there. BUT: it *COULD* have been done in the Everglades, so ... no reason to be mad over it ;) Thanks and have fun watching!

Update 5/2014 - after 5 Years I finally got tech data from a bigger heli: LAMA Sa 315B with 3,4m http://goo.gl/vr9we7
On the other hand it only has 5cm more main rotor - but 10kg less the weight...
Maybe we can do a video with both on the same airfield and let the camera decide which one is bigger?

RC heli vs. Alligator - what happens? NOT a prank but an experiment!!
Filmed over 10 years ago and saved from oblivion: Is it possible to do Alligator "fishing" with an R/C helicopter? Croc expert and fellow R/C pilot "Dave" took us onto a trip deep into the Florida Everglades(*) to find out! (He's an experienced animal handler BTW; none of the Crocs has been or would have been harmed, so please don't state the contrary, it simply isn't true) Heli of the day was a trusty old Skyfox with wooden blades. Won't do damage to an alligator (just in case) and wouldn't be a real loss either should it crash into the swamp. Overall a favorite Legacy action. Time passes so quickly (sigh) ... (*) Okay okay, as some of the very sharp-eyed viewers among you have already noticed: it wasn't filmed in Florida. But we liked the Hillbilly character so much and it fit so well that the connection made sense; so we simply put the name there. Heli-Max - Black Hawk - Review and Outdoor Flight
This is my review of the awesome Heli-Max Black Hawk 1/43 scale helicopter. This helicopter has incredible detail, a 4-bladed CP rotor head, tube-driven VP tail, and brushless motor. It is capable of mild 3D aerobatics, however I am not a 3D pilot (yet?), so I will be flying it in more of a scale manner. It comes in RTF and Tx-R versions, and can be bound to a Tactic transmitter, or to many other brand radios via the AnyLink radio adapter. One of the highlights of the 2012 RC Road Trip was getting to meet world class RC helicopter pilot Nick Maxwell. We were fortunate enough to be able to meet Nick at a local RC club while he was working on two new helicopter videos for Hobbico and Team Thunder Tiger America. After his first two demos were complete he was nice enough to show us his great 3D skills with his 90-Class Raptor G4 helicopter. If you watch the video closely you will see that I back up two or three times while Nick does some really amazing 3D maneuvers. I lost him a few times during the flight, but think I caught most of it. Thanks go out to the Hobbico crew and Team Thunder Tiger America for taking Chris and I out to see Nick fly and also much thanks to Nick for being such a great guy and demoing the Raptor G4 for us. HELI - a feature film by Amat Escalante GERMAN THEATRICAL RELASE: 18.09.2014 / GERMAN DISTRIBUTOR: temperclayfilm SYNOPSIS: Like most of the men in his small town in the state of Guanajuato, Heli, a young family man, works at the Hirotec plant assembling cars, as does his father. Together they support Heli's sister Estela, a spunky teenage girl, his similarly young wife Sabrina, and his infant son Santiago. Surely they manage to make ends meet earning an honest living, but there are visible apathetic undertones in their behavior that resemble the vast desolation of the arid setting. Falling in love for the first time, middle schooler Estela is secretly dating 17-year-old cadet Beto. Easily amused, she enjoys going for rides in his worn out car while he proudly showcases his strength and knowledge acquired during military training. Despite Beto's efforts to get intimate, their juvenile romance is something rather innocent and pure. The young man has plans of marrying Estela and moving away, but in order to realize his ambition he decides to take a dangerous route. Familiar with his superior's illegal hiding spot, he steals a couple cocaine packages and hides them in Estela family's water tank with intentions of reselling them. Casually discovering the packages, Heli doesn't hesitate to destroy them, and immediately prohibits Estela from seeing her boyfriend. Still, it is already to late to avoid the consequences of their involuntary involvement. Just as Heli and his father discus the incident, a squad of murderous policemen breaks in to then kill the older man. Heli and his sister are kidnapped alongside Beto to be punished for their family's fault. After enduring appalling torture, Heli survives the ordeal, but is now faced with unfathomable hardships to rebuild his life. Between the flagrantly shameless corruption of the authorities and his pent up frustration, Heli can't make sense out of his helpless condition. Having no clue of Estela's whereabouts, he is taken over by violence and the need for liberating vengeance. HELI is Mexico`s oscar-entry of 2014. Filmed over 10 years ago and saved from oblivion: Is it possible to do Alligator "fishing" with an R/C helicopter? Croc expert and fellow R/C pilot "Dave" took us onto a trip deep into the Florida Everglades(*) to find out! (He's an experienced animal handler BTW; none of the Crocs has been or would have been harmed, so please don't state the contrary, it simply isn't true)
Heli of the day was a trusty old Skyfox with wooden blades. Won't do damage to an alligator (just in case) and wouldn't be a real loss either should it crash into the swamp. Overall a favorite Legacy action. Time passes so quickly (sigh) ...
(*) Okay okay, as some of the very sharp-eyed viewers among you have already noticed: it wasn't filmed in Florida. But we liked the Hillbilly character so much and it fit so well that the connection made sense; so we simply put the name there. BUT: it *COULD* have been done in the Everglades, so ... no reason to be mad over it ;) Thanks and have fun watching!

On the other hand it only has 5cm more main rotor - but 10kg less the weight...
Maybe we can do a video with both on the same airfield and let the camera decide which one is bigger?

This is NOT my heli - it's from a friend - Josef Schmirl. We had him as a guest flyer on our local field. It's the worlds biggest RC HELI. Feel free to discus this but please only if you have tech specs of bigger or similar sized helis! I don't count commercial or military drones!

Update 5/2014 - after 5 Years I finally got tech data from a bigger heli: LAMA Sa 315B with 3,4m http://goo.gl/vr9we7
On the other hand it only has 5cm more main rotor - but 10kg less the weight...
Maybe we can do a video with both on the same airfield and let the camera decide which one is bigger?

This is my review of the awesome Heli-Max Black Hawk 1/43 scale helicopter. This helicopter has incredible detail, a 4-bladed CP rotor head, tube-driven VP tail, and brushless motor. It is capable of mild 3D aerobatics, however I am not a 3D pilot (yet?), so I will be flying it in more of a scale manner. It comes in RTF and Tx-R versions, and can be bound to a Tactic transmitter, or to many other brand radios via the AnyLink radio adapter.
In this video I have included an outdoor flight in the small area in front of my house, but look forward to more flight videos of this in the future. :)

Since leaping from stratosphere, Felix Baumgartner has been exploring his passion for flying helicopters, and it was these skills he showcased in Poland during the recent Red Bull Heli Drifting performance.
With Felix at the controls of a Bolkov BO105 aerobatic helicopter, he teamed up with Polish drifting ace Jakub Przygoński and his Toyota GT 86 1000HP. The name of game was seeing how closely the chopper could track the movements of the race car.

One of the highlights of the 2012 RC Road Trip was getting to meet world class RC helicopter pilot Nick Maxwell.
We were fortunate enough to be able to meet Nick at a local RC club while he was working on two new helicopter videos for Hobbico and Team Thunder Tiger America. After his first two demos were complete he was nice enough to show us his great 3D skills with his 90-Class Raptor G4 helicopter.
If you watch the video closely you will see that I back up two or three times while Nick does some really amazing 3D maneuvers. I lost him a few times during the flight, but think I caught most of it.
Thanks go out to the Hobbico crew and Team Thunder Tiger America for taking Chris and I out to see Nick fly and also much thanks to Nick for being such a great guy and demoing the Raptor G4 for us.
Nick is widely considered to be among the world's very best heli pilots. He has a long list of noteworthy accomplishments to back up that claim, including:

SYNOPSIS:
Like most of the men in his small town in the state of Guanajuato, Heli, a young family man, works at the Hirotec plant assembling cars, as does his father. Together they support Heli's sister Estela, a spunky teenage girl, his similarly young wife Sabrina, and his infant son Santiago. Surely they manage to make ends meet earning an honest living, but there are visible apathetic undertones in their behavior that resemble the vast desolation of the arid setting.
Falling in love for the first time, middle schooler Estela is secretly dating 17-year-old cadet Beto. Easily amused, she enjoys going for rides in his worn out car while he proudly showcases his strength and knowledge acquired during military training. Despite Beto's efforts to get intimate, their juvenile romance is something rather innocent and pure. The young man has plans of marrying Estela and moving away, but in order to realize his ambition he decides to take a dangerous route. Familiar with his superior's illegal hiding spot, he steals a couple cocaine packages and hides them in Estela family's water tank with intentions of reselling them.
Casually discovering the packages, Heli doesn't hesitate to destroy them, and immediately prohibits Estela from seeing her boyfriend. Still, it is already to late to avoid the consequences of their involuntary involvement. Just as Heli and his father discus the incident, a squad of murderous policemen breaks in to then kill the older man. Heli and his sister are kidnapped alongside Beto to be punished for their family's fault. After enduring appalling torture, Heli survives the ordeal, but is now faced with unfathomable hardships to rebuild his life. Between the flagrantly shameless corruption of the authorities and his pent up frustration, Heli can't make sense out of his helpless condition. Having no clue of Estela's whereabouts, he is taken over by violence and the need for liberating vengeance.
HELI is Mexico`s oscar-entry of 2014.
