Epidemie identiche scoppiarono contemporaneamente in Asia e in Vicino Oriente, il che fa supporre che l'epidemia europea fosse parte di una più ampia pandemia.

En 1348 estalló en Europa una terrible epidemia de peste, la llamada peste negra. En dos años se extendió por todo el continente y acabó con una cuarta parte de la población europea. Este documental recoge esta triste etapa de la historia de la Humanidad: la Peste Negra del medievo.
La peste negra fue una pandemia que llego a Europa en el siglo XIV, llevando a la muerte a aproximadamente 25 millones de personas, es considerada una de las pestes mas grandes registradas en la historia de los seres humanos. Existen varias teorías sobre el origen de la plaga: la más aceptada por la comunidad científica explica que fue un brote causado por una variante de la bacteria Yersinia pestis, sin embargo este tipo de teorías carece de evidencia medica e histórica. De acuerdo con datos históricos, esta pandemia tuvo orígenes en Asia, y por medio de las rutas comerciales llego a Europa para infectar a millones de personas.

Tudo começa quase como um resfriado comum. Dentro de um dia aparecem a febre, as manchas pretas do tamanho de bolas de bilhar no pescoço, e então a tosse com sangue. Poucos viveram mais de dois dias após o início da infecção, e muito rapidamente o destino dos corpos tornou-se um problema.
O ano era 1347. E esse foi o pior desastre biológico na história da humanidade, abalando os alicerces da ordem social vigente. Quase metade da população europeia morreu, e diante desse cenário apocalíptico foram registrados exemplos de nobreza e também de selvageria. Talvez a peste negra sirva como um exemplo para nosso próprio tempo, levando-nos a questionar a estabilidade da nossa sociedade diante de uma possível catástrofe como essa. E também a nossa vulnerabilidade frente a alguns novos assassinos microbiológicos, espalhados através de mudanças ecológicas ou do terrorismo biológico.
Foi dito que a peste negra teve início nas regiões mais remotas do Império Mongol, e se espalhou ao longo de suas rotas de comércio para o porto de Caffa no Mar Negro, de onde teria migrado através de embarcações para a Itália e toda Europa; sendo causada por uma bactéria mortal, a Yersina pestis, carregada nos estômagos das pulgas que infestavam os ratos que eram abundantes nas cidades da Idade Média. À medida que a doença matou os ratos, as pulgas moveram-se para outros hospedeiros, os seres humanos. Uma vez que as eram infectadas, tornavam-se elas mesmas agentes de transmissão, ao cuspir e tossir sangue contaminado. Em alguns casos a morte vinha em menos de 24 horas, ceifando a vida de famílias inteiras em poucos dias.
Então como a Europa lidou com uma epidemia dessa proporção? O que fez com que fosse controlada? E o mais importante, um evento como esse poderia acontecer de novo?

Tudo começa quase como um resfriado comum. Dentro de um dia aparecem a febre, as manchas pretas do tamanho de bolas de bilhar no pescoço, e então a tosse com sangue. Poucos viveram mais de dois dias após o início da infecção, e muito rapidamente o destino dos corpos tornou-se um problema.
O ano era 1347. E esse foi o pior desastre biológico na história da humanidade, abalando os alicerces da ordem social vigente. Quase metade da população europeia morreu, e diante desse cenário apocalíptico foram registrados exemplos de nobreza e também de selvageria. Talvez a peste negra sirva como um exemplo para nosso próprio tempo, levando-nos a questionar a estabilidade da nossa sociedade diante de uma possível catástrofe como essa. E também a nossa vulnerabilidade frente a alguns novos assassinos microbiológicos, espalhados através de mudanças ecológicas ou do terrorismo biológico.
Foi dito que a peste negra teve início nas regiões mais remotas do Império Mongol, e se espalhou ao longo de suas rotas de comércio para o porto de Caffa no Mar Negro, de onde teria migrado através de embarcações para a Itália e toda Europa; sendo causada por uma bactéria mortal, a Yersina pestis, carregada nos estômagos das pulgas que infestavam os ratos que eram abundantes nas cidades da Idade Média. À medida que a doença matou os ratos, as pulgas moveram-se para outros hospedeiros, os seres humanos. Uma vez que as eram infectadas, tornavam-se elas mesmas agentes de transmissão, ao cuspir e tossir sangue contaminado. Em alguns casos a morte vinha em menos de 24 horas, ceifando a vida de famílias inteiras em poucos dias.
Então como a Europa lidou com uma epidemia dessa proporção? O que fez com que fosse controlada? E o mais importante, um evento como esse poderia acontecer de novo?

A peste negra foi considerada por muito tempo um castigo divino, por conta dos hábitos pecaminosos da sociedade.
Por mais que a Peste Negra tenha sido um evento trágico, nós devemos agradecer por ter acontecido. O fim de um terço da população mundial foi, na verdade, um verdadeiro recomeço.

La pandemia más destructiva en la historia de Europa fue la peste bubónica que asoló al Viejo Continente entre los años 1348 y 1361, ya la que se dio el nombre de muerte negra".
La palabra "bubónica" se refiere al característico bubón o agrandamiento de los ganglios linfáticos. Esta plaga es propia de los roedores y pasa de rata en rata a través de las pulgas: la pulga pica a una rata infectada y engulle el bacilo junto con la sangre; este bacilo puede quedar en el intestino del animal durante tres semanas y cuando pica a otro animal o a una persona, lo regurgita e infecta.
La bacteria infecciosa Pasteurella pestis, conocida ahora como Yersinia, se multiplica rápidamente en la corriente sanguínea, produciendo altas temperaturas y muerte por septicemia. Pero esto no ocurre a menudo en epidemias de verdadera peste bubónica, pues para ello se requiere una altísima transmisión de la infección a través de las pulgas. En ciertos casos, por razones desconocidas, la infección puede adquirir la forma de una neumonía, y no necesita de la picadura de pulgas sino que se transmite de persona a persona, por contacto o a través de la respiración. En una gran pandemia existen ambas; no obstante, la del tipo neumónica se expande más rápido y más extensivamente, con una mayor incidencia de casos y una mortandad superior, puesto que la neumonía, la mayoría de las veces, es letal.
Se presume, comenzó en Mongolia. De allí, una horda de tártaros —un pueblo de origen turco que invadió Asia Central— la llevó al istmo de Crimea, donde sitiaron a un grupo de mercaderes italianos en un puesto de trueque llamado Caffa (Teodosia en la actualidad). De acuerdo con una versión, la plaga apareció en Caffa en el invierno de 1346, sin duda contagiada por las ratas. Otra versión la atribuye a que los tártaros arrojaron cadáveres infectados por encima de los muros. En ambos lados hubo muchos muertos y por esa razón el sitio fue levantado.

La peste noire est une pandémie de peste bubonique, causée par la bactérie Yersinia pestis, qui a touché la population européenne entre 1347 et 1352. Elle n'est ni la première ni la dernière épidémie de ce type, mais elle est la seule à porter ce nom. La peste noire est une pandémie de peste bubonique, causée par la bactérie Yersinia pestis, qui a touché la population européenne entre 1347 et 1352. Elle n'est ni la première ni la dernière épidémie de ce type, mais elle est la seule à porter ce nom. En revanche, elle est la première épidémie de l'histoire à avoir été bien décrite par les chroniqueurs contemporains.
On estime que la peste noire a tué entre 30 et 50 % de la population européenne en cinq ans, faisant environ vingt-cinq millions de victimes. Cette épidémie eut des conséquences durables sur la civilisation européenne, d'autant qu'après cette première vague, la maladie refit ensuite régulièrement son apparition dans les différents pays touchés : entre 1348 et 1355 en France, et entre 1360 et 1369 en Angleterre, notamment.

Hunters from Outwest Farms located in Okeechobee, Florida have posted an image showing a massive, near 15-foot, 780 pound alligator they found and killed. According to CNN, the huge reptile was discovered on Saturday on one of the ponds located on a private ranch owned by Outwest Farms owner Lee Lightsey ... They were surprised when they came across this huge alligator instead ... I hate seeing a beautiful dinosaur like that killed.???? #RIP....
