The politics of Dalit Nationalism has been brought into full play only in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where the Bahujan Samaj Party, representing the Dalit community, has consistently polled 20 percent of the vote in the elections in the last two decades, and even shared power with one of its rival the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a Hindutva party. As of 2011^[update], it rules the state alone. Dalit Nationalism, refers to the Dalit movements that are associated with the establishment of a homeland for the Dalits in the sub-continent. A homeland many times known by as Dalit Rashtra, Dalit Raj, Dalit Rajya, Dalitistan, Dalitdom or Post-Hindu India. Dalit Rashtra can be defined as a democracy, which is "of the Dalits, for the Dalits and by the Dalits".

Narendra Damodardas Modi (Gujarati: નરેન્દ્ર મોદી; born 17 September 1950) is the current Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat. Born in a middle class family in Vadnagar, he was the third of six children born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and his wife Heeraben. He has been a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood also having interest in politics since adolescence. He holds a master's degree in political science. In 1998, he was chosen by L. K. Advani, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to direct the election campaign in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh.

He became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001, promoted to the office at a time when his predecessor Keshubhai Patel had resigned, following the defeat of BJP in the by-elections. His tenure as chief minister of Gujarat began on 7 October 2001, and he is the longest serving Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat. In July 2007 he became the longest serving Chief Minister in Gujarat's history when he had been in power for 2063 days continuously. He was elected again for a third term on 23 December 2007 in the state elections, which he had cast as a "referendum on his rule".

Mohan Madhukar Bhagawat (born 1950) is the current Sarsanghachalak (Supreme Chief) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He was chosen as the successor of K. S. Sudarshan in March 2009 .

Mohanrao Madhukarrao Bhagwat was born in a small town called Chandrapur in Maharashtra. He comes from a family of RSS activists. His father Madhukar Bhagwat, was the Karyavaha (secretary) of the Chandrapur zone and had also, worked as Prant Pracharak of Gujarat. It was Madhukarji, who introduced the senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani into the RSS fold. Mohanrao is the eldest son of his parents and has three brothers and a sister.

He completed his schooling from Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalaya and then his first year BSc from Janata College, both in Chandrapur. He graduated in Veterinary sciences and Animal husbandry from Punjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. He dropped out of his masters course in veterinary sciences and became a Pracharak (full time worker) of the RSS towards the end of 1975 when the country was under Emergency imposed by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
