Vintage Tech: Magnetic Core Memory - VT3
Even simple maths is beyond me, my brain just can't see the numbers, I get the theory but not the working out.

Magnetic Core Memory From Soviet Russia
A piece of magnetic core memory that was used in a mainframe computer in the Soviet Union. It can store 4096 bits of data. This piece of memory supposedly came from a 'Saratov 2' which was a clone of the western PDP8 computer.

Magnetic Core Memory Explained (Part 1) - F-J's Physics - Video 179
Ever wondered how magnetic core memory worked, where it was used and just how much data it could store? Here I explain all of the above and more. Learn about coincident currents, hysteresis, remanence, coercivity and why all of this matters. By the end of the video you should be an expert on this wonderful and important form of computer memory. Lots of physics but if that's not for you scroll on and you will see examples of different core planes and an explanation of just how much memory each one holds!

Magnetic core memory from 40 years ago
Here's a very interesting bit of technology from 40 years ago and it shows just how far we've come in just a few short decades with respect to computer memory.
Without the super-high density flash memory that modern SD and microSD cards offer, we'd never be able to build recording HD video cameras so I guess this is somewhat related to RC models :-)
