Nigeria
The Federal Republic of Nigeria, commonly referred to as Nigeria 
i/naɪˈdʒɪəriə/, is a federal constitutional republic in West Africa, bordering Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north. Its coast in the south lies on the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It comprises 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, where the capital, Abuja is located. Nigeria is officially a democratic secular country.
Modern-day Nigeria has been the site of numerous kingdoms and tribal states over the millennia. The modern state originated from British colonial rule beginning in the 19th century, and the merging of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and Northern Nigeria Protectorate in 1914. The British set up administrative and legal structures whilst practising indirect rule through traditional chiefdoms. Nigeria became a formally independent federation in 1960, and plunged into a civil war from 1967 to 1970. It has since alternated between democratically-elected civilian governments and military dictatorships, until it achieved a stable democracy in 1999, with its 2011 presidential elections being viewed as the first to be conducted reasonably freely and fairly.

Nigeria is an album by American jazz guitarist Grant Green featuring performances recorded in 1962 but not released on the Blue Note label until 1980. The tracks were also released in 1997 as part of The Complete Quartets with Sonny Clark.

The Allmusic review by Michael Erlewine awarded the album 4½ stars and stated "Just classic Green".

In a statement on social media, Nigeria said that there was a surge in antisemitic and Islamophobic hate crimes in Australia, particularly referring to an incident in Sydney in December. This came after Australia issued a similar warning to its citizens against visiting Nigeria, owing to terrorism, crimes and kidnappings in the country. Australia labelled at least 24 states, out of 36 Nigerian states, as places that its citizens should avoid visiting. Kenya's Ruto and Nigeria's Tinubu Named Among World’s Most Corrupt Leaders of 2024 |Firstpost Africa
Two African leaders have made it to the top three on the list of most corrupt leaders of 2024- Kenyan President Wiliam Ruto and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. The African leaders were ranked by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). Ruto and Tinubu were the finalists for OCCRP's "Person of the Year award". The top ranked, that is the most corrupt leader's title was given to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Kenya's William Ruto was placed second, and Nigeria's Bola Tinubu secured the third spot. Though Bashar al-Assad was ranked number one, he did not receive the most number of votes. It was the Kenyan president. Watch for more details.

Nigeria has cautioned its citizens planning to visit Australia to exercise heightened vigilance due to an uptick in reports of harassment and discrimination against foreigners in the country. In a statement on social media, Nigeria said that there was a surge in antisemitic and Islamophobic hate crimes in Australia, particularly referring to an incident in Sydney in December. This came after Australia issued a similar warning to its citizens against visiting Nigeria, owing to terrorism, crimes and kidnappings in the country. Australia labelled at least 24 states, out of 36 Nigerian states, as places that its citizens should avoid visiting. But this retaliatory move by Nigeria has raised concerns on whether tensions are brewing in otherwise stable diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Australia. Watch for more.

Two African leaders have made it to the top three on the list of most corrupt leaders of 2024- Kenyan President Wiliam Ruto and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. The African leaders were ranked by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). Ruto and Tinubu were the finalists for OCCRP's "Person of the Year award". The top ranked, that is the most corrupt leader's title was given to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Kenya's William Ruto was placed second, and Nigeria's Bola Tinubu secured the third spot.
