Four Dimensions of Greta (1972) Robin Askwith
a scene from the 1972 film "Four Dimensions of Greta." Tacky British sleaze at its most glorious and dubious - featuring possibly the worst German accent ever committed to film, enough pubic hair to stuff two sofas, and some of the worst acting and limb contortions ever seen. Greta was Britain's very first 3D feature film and was directed by Pete Walker ("House of Whipcord" and "Cool It, Carol!")

Sermon Notes: The Holy Spirit – Part 2
The Walls will Come Tumbling Down
1. Middle-school story of being trapped. Teachers and student responses.
2. Sometimes in life we find ourselves feeling locked in, trapped, stuck, or surrounded. And like a boy unable to get out of a place he did not want to be, many of us certainly have had passages in which we felt walled in, perhaps even panic stricken.
3. Pentecost.
A. From Greek meaning 50th day.
B. Rooted in Judaism.
C. Festival of Weeks 50 days after Passover. Shavuot in Hebrew.
i. Day of celebrating the harvest and thanking God.
ii. Day of giving God thanks for the 10 commandments.
D. Expected that Jews would travel to Jerusalem to celebrate The Festival of Weeks or Pentecost as called in Greek.
E. Book of Acts 2. Disciples in Jerusalem for The Festival of Weeks.
F. Holy Spirit, like a wind, filled the disciples. Variety of languages.
G. From that day forward, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully among the people and the message of Jesus spread like wildfire.
4. Holy Spirit review from Week 1.
A. Same Spirit that filled disciples on Pentecost is within each of us now.
B. Holy Spirit is the presence of God. An active presence that moves like wind and fire. The HS is eternal.
C. The Holy Spirit is how God acts in our lives. The Holy Spirit is how God guides, leads, and directs us. Our natural talents, abilities, and unique forms of giftedness all come from God through the Holy Spirit.
D. When we are overwhelmed by life, the Holy Spirit helps us through by giving us the energy we need to persist and confront our challenges and heartaches. The Holy Spirit is often described as our advocate, counselor, companion, helper, and healer. The Holy Spirit helps us pray and in fact prays for us.
E. Those things we call coincidences in life that are good and wonderful and move us in new directions. Such coincidences come from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the power of God within our beings, the same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead.
F. Although the Holy Spirit is within us already, it can help us really tap in to the power of the Holy Spirit if we seek it, want it, and ask for it. Paul, in his writings, encourages us to “eagerly desire” the Holy Spirit. To ask with energy and zeal, “Lord God may your Holy Spirit fill me, fill my life right now, and take over.”
5. Walls
A. Water, food, children, laws, our tongues.
B. Each of these things I have mentioned and countless others I did not, are inherently good, helpful, and life giving, but they are precisely so
because of limits, boundaries, and constraints. What good would water do us if we could not contain it?
C. Yet while it is a good thing to have the power to limit, confine, constrain and even inhibit most things, I am not so sure that God wants us to inhibit the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives, either individually or collectively.
D. Churches. Have walls.
i. Yet in many ways churches are a huge blessing.
ii. But walls can send the wrong message.
a. Walls can convey that some people are in and others are out. That some should come in and others should stay out.
b. Walls say that there is a set service time but can cause people to forget that service is what happens when we conclude worship and leave the building. Walls can separate and divide. Walls can convey that God has open and closed hours. Walls can propel people to put locks on doors, which keep the hungry and distraught out when may they need to come in from life the most
c. Walls suggest that there is a way of being that has nothing to do with the world beyond the walls.
iii. Other walls. Internal in our minds.
a. Walls to keep people out of our lives with whom we disagree; to keep people out whom we do not understand; can keep us from seeing things we don’t like.
b. Our perspectives and viewpoints and opinions can serve as walls that in inhibit listening, empathy, and loving relationships.
c. Walls in our psyches.
1. Walls that create a no-fly zone where we put our junk and pain, and heartache, or simply the things we don’t want or are too afraid to look at. Walls that hide what we don’t want others to see. We may not even want God to peer over.
6. Pentecost remind us…
A. A key metaphor for the Holy Spirit is a powerful wind as described in the Book of Acts and elsewhere. A wind Jesus described as an unlimited, unbounded force that comes from places we cannot see and goes to places we may not yet know or understand. A wind that is the mighty power of God Himself.
B. The Holy Spirit blows walls down. Walls of exclusion, mean-spiritedness, cruelty, division, dissension, self-centeredness, selfishness, hatred, evil.
C. The Holy Spirit blows our internal walls down.
i. Walls that hide pain and hurt.
