Elizabeth Fraser - Song to the Siren - Royal Festival Hall - 6 August 2012
Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren" performed live by Elizabeth Fraser. The song was rarely played live by the Cocteau Twins - the only time I saw it was in December 1983 when they played ULU in London. The 2012 version sees Liz singing it live in the style of the Tim Buckley original vocal from 1968, rather than Liz's recorded performance with This Mortal Coil in 1983.

SYNOPSIS: This film took more money at the U.K. box office in 1976 than 'Taxi Driver' starring Robert De Niro! Easy to see why. Scorsese's film lacked the magic ingredient - Barry Evans' old boy.
Poor Barry. Having starred in the T.V. series 'Doctor In The House' and 'Doctor At Large', he was fired for 'erratic behaviour' and subsequently forced to appear in tat like this.
As you may have guessed, the 'Adventures' series is a shameless rip-off of the 'Confessions' movies starring Robin Askwith. The main gag in all these films is the hero, in bed with a love-starved nymph, being caught by her husband/boyfriend, and having to make a break for it by shinning down a ladder/drainpipe, his bare bottom exposed to the world.
Evans' character is 'Joe North', a chirpy Cockney cabby who lives at home with his mum ( a criminally wasted Diana Dors ) and his younger brother and sister, the latter fond of throwing food around the kitchen. He is betrothed to Carol Hotchkiss ( Adrienne Posta ), whom he hates the sight of. He eventually moves in with his mate, garage owner Tom ( a pre 'Citizen Smith' Robert Lindsay ), and that's when the fun really begins ( sort of ) with knickers and bras flying about confetti. At the end, North gets involved with jewel thieves and you think 'Great! We're going to have a 'Carry On Cabby' type finale!", but no, instead everyone stands around talking for what seems an eternity.
Another reviewer has stated how uncomfortable Evans looks in the role, and I would agree. Unsurprisingly, he was in neither of the two sequels. His career recovered though when he starred in the hit L.W.T. sitcom 'Mind Your Language'. In a sad irony, he became a taxi driver for real when his acting career foundered.
As was the case with 'Confessions', there is a stellar line-up of British comedy talent on display here, including Ian Lavender, Stephen Lewis, Brian Wilde, Liz Fraser, and Henry McGee, none of whom get the material they deserve. Three of Evans' co-stars - Angela Scoular, Adrienne Posta, and Judy Geeson - had acted with him a decade earlier in the superior sex comedy 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush'. Scoular charmed George Lazenby out of his kilt in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', but looks a lot less sexy here ( probably due to that awful new hairstyle ). Posta is rather good as the annoying 'Carol', even if her vocalisation of the title theme put me in mind of the mice from 'Bagpuss'. Unable to secure the talents of Linda Hayden, producer Stanley Long settled for her sister Jane, playing a would-be suicidalist.
There are some nice shots of late '70's London, especially at night, but much of the comedy is forced, at times resembling the 'Fast Show' parody 'Confessions Of A Cucumber Salesman'. However, there are at least three genuine laugh-out loud moments, one involving two nuns, another a bathtub, and in the best scene, Liz Fraser's prostitute performs fellatio on a rich client in the back of North's taxi. He brakes su

"DOCTOR IN LOVE" (The Plot). A raucous tale of two young doctors - Dr Richard Hare (Michael Craig) and Dr Tony Burke (Leslie Phillips) leave the confines of St Swithins Hospital for the world of general practice, to tackle the most common ailment known to man - the love bug! Stopping off on the way as patients at the Foulness Anti-cold unit, Hare takes up a position as junior in a well-headed G.P.'s surgery while Burke continues to sow his doctorial wild oats. In the process, they encounter sultry night nurses, two out of work strippers - Dawn & Lenora (Joan Sims & Liz Fraser), a flirtatious receptionist (Carole Lesley) and the luscious Locum Dr Barrington (Virginia Maskell).
Needless to say, heartbeats and pulse-rates rush skywards, as love becomes the prescribed tonic. Even the retired surgeon Sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice) gets involved and all in spite of a grumbling appendix. Starring, Michael Craig, Virginia Maskell, Leslie Phillips, James Robertson Justice, Carole Lesley, Reginald Beckwith, Nicholas Phipps, Liz Fraser, Joan Sims, Ambrosine Phillpotts, Irene Handi, Nicholas Parsons, Moira Redmond, Ronnie Stevens, and Fenella Fielding, Directed Ralph Thomas. Released July 12th, 1960.

Norman Puckle (Norman Wisdom), a well-meaning but clumsy grocer's assistant, can't seem to do anything right. After being rejected by Marlene, the love of his life, he attempts suicide, but can't even do that. He is saved from jumping off a cliff at 'Lover's Leap' by a Royal Navy petty officer. He persuades Puckle to join the Royal Navy, where he'll meet 'lots of girls'.
Life in the Navy proves not to be as rosy as it's been described, and Puckle fails at every task during basic training. But despite this, he's regarded by the Admiral in charge of a rocket project to be a 'typical average British sailor', and chosen to be the first man to fly into outer space in an experimental rocket.
Puckle fails at every stage of his training and is court-martialled, but successfully pleads for a final chance to prove himself. By accident, he takes the place of an astronaut and leaves Earth in the rocket. Equally by accident, he manages to return. He crash-lands on a Pacific island and ends up in the arms of a compliant local maiden.

Mis ojos son un bautismo
Oh! estoy fundida
Y cantan en mis pensamientos
Oh!

Liz Fraser is a BAFTA-nominated English actress, best known for her comedy roles as a provocative "dumb blonde" in British films of the 1950s, '60s and '70s.
Fraser is known for her many appearances in British films and television series, including Hancock's Half Hour, Citizen James, Last of the Summer Wine and The Avengers episode "The Girl from Auntie". As Elizabeth Fraser, over a period of nearly six months, she appeared in numerous editions of the Associated-Rediffusion soap opera Sixpenny Corner (1955–56). She played Mrs Brent, a dead/missing girl's mother, in "Nemesis" – one of the Joan Hickson Miss Marple episodes for the BBC in 1987. She gave a strong and memorable performance in The Professionals episode "Backtrack" first broadcast in 1979 as Margery Harper (Marge) a fairly glamorous lady who fenced stolen property in her shop.
She also appeared on Benny Hill's late-1950s TV shows, and in a single sketch in the 23 December 1970 episode of his Thames TV series. As this episode was in black & white (due to the "colour strike" by TV technicians, who wanted to be paid extra for working with the then-new colour TV technology), the sketch was not included in any of the half-hour syndicated episodes of the Benny Hill Show. However, it is included in the Volume 1 box set of the complete "Benny Hill Show", issued by A&E; and Fremantle.
Her first film appearance was in Touch and Go (1955) credited as Elizabeth Frazer and The Smallest Show on Earth (1957) in which she worked with Peter Sellers for the first time. Further film appearances include I'm All Right, Jack (1959) for which she received a BAFTA nomination as Most Promising Newcomer, Two-Way Stretch (1960), The Americanization of Emily (1964), the sex comedies Adventures of a Taxi Driver (1976), Confessions of a Driving Instructor (1976), Adventures of a Private Eye (1977) and Rosie Dixon – Night Nurse (1978), and four of the Carry On films: Carry On Regardless (1961), Carry On Cruising (1962), Carry On Cabby (1963) and Carry On Behind (1975). Her other television work has included Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), Crown Court, The Bill, Foyle's War, Birds of a Feather, Minder and Holby City.

Elizabeth Davidson Fraser is a Scottish singer/songwriter known for her work with the band Cocteau Twins throughout the 1980s-90s. The band's work has often been considered a starting point for shoegazer/dream pop as well as having roots in gothic rock. Liz is also known for her often indecipherable vocalizations, often worded in foreign languages she does not speak.
Liz's vocals are often dreamy and airy with an operatic touch. Her more chesty singing is sporadic but often strong, with a wide use of vibrato. Her head register is effortless and where most of her singing is done and her lower register is surprisingly very easy as well, going strong to the mid-third octave. In the early work of Cocteau Twins, she often chose to limit her vocal range until the release of "Treasure", the band's third album. By the late 1980s, Liz's vocals were often placed in the mid to upper fifth octave with ease and this continued throughout the 1990s. Her vocal work since the Cocteau Twins has remained soft and ethereal, but she chooses not use her head register to heights as extensive as previous work, possibly for voice preservation.
Lower Notes:
1. 0:00 We'll start with the lows! First a strong G3 from the legendary cover of "Song To The Siren".
2. 0:10 A warm G3 from "Teardrop".
3. 0:20 Strong F♯3s from "Athol-Brose".
4. 0:28 F♯3s from the heartbreaking "Mary".
5. 0:41 F3s from "Mud And Dark".

wn.com/The Vocal Range Of Elizabeth Fraser

Jeff Buckley y Elizabeth Fraser - All Flowers in Time Bend Towards the Sun subtitulada
---Letra---
Mis ojos son un bautismo
Oh! estoy fundida
Y cantan en mis pensamientos
Oh!
