Angela Margaret Scoular (8 November 1945 – 11 April 2011) was an English actress.
Her father was an engineer and she was born in London. She attended St.George's School, Harpenden, Queen's College, Harley Street and RADA.
Scoular was among a small group of actors to have appeared in two James Bond films, made by different production companies. Scoular played Buttercup in the 1967 comedy Casino Royale and then two years later made an appearance in the Eon Productions Bond film series playing Ruby in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Her other film credits include A Countess from Hong Kong (1967), Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush (1967), Great Catherine (1968), Doctor in Trouble (1970), The Adventurers (1970), Adventures of a Taxi Driver (1976), and Adventures of a Private Eye (1977).
Her television credits included playing Cathy in a 1967 BBC production of Wuthering Heights, Doctor in the House, The Avengers, Coronation Street, Penmarric, As Time Goes By, You Rang, M'Lord?, in the recurring role of Lady Agatha Shawcross, and Lady Margaret Thompson in an episode of Series 2 of the Thames television series Minder.
Wuthering Heights is Emily Brontë's only novel. Written between October 1845 and June 1846,Wuthering Heights was published in 1847 under the pseudonym "Ellis Bell"; Brontë died the following year, aged 30. Wuthering Heights and Anne Brontë's Agnes Grey were accepted by publisher Thomas Newby before the success of their sister Charlotte's novel, Jane Eyre. After Emily's death, Charlotte edited the manuscript of Wuthering Heights, and arranged for the edited version to be published as a posthumous second edition in 1850.
Although Wuthering Heights is now widely regarded as a classic of English literature, contemporary reviews for the novel were deeply polarised; it was considered controversial because its depiction of mental and physical cruelty was unusually stark, and it challenged strict Victorian ideals of the day, including religious hypocrisy, morality, social classes and gender inequality. The English poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti referred to it as "A fiend of a book – an incredible monster ... The action is laid in hell, – only it seems places and people have English names there."
Adrienne Posta (born Adrienne Luanne Poster, 4 March 1948) is an English film and television actress and singer, prominent during the 1960s and 1970s. She adopted the surname 'Posta' in 1966.
She appeared in a wide range of films including To Sir with Love and Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush in 1967, Up the Junction in 1968 and Spring and Port Wine in 1970. She also starred in many TV programmes including the first episode of Adam Faith's series Budgie in 1971, where she appeared as a stripper.
She also recorded a number of singles. She is now semi-retired and works as a teacher in the Midlands and at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
Posta is an honorary patron of the Music Hall Guild of Great Britain and America.
Judith Amanda "Judy" Geeson (born 10 September 1948) is an English film, stage, and television actress. She began her career primarily working on British television series, before making her major film debut in To Sir, with Love (1967). She later would star in a range of films throughout the 1970s, from crime pictures to thriller and horror films, including The Executioner (1970), Fear in the Night (1972), Brannigan (1975), and The Eagle Has Landed (1976).
In her later career, Geeson returned to television, playing the recurring character of Maggie Conway on the American series Mad About You from 1992 until 1999, as well as a recurring role on Gilmore Girls in 2002. In 2012, she appeared in Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem.
Geeson was born in Arundel, Sussex. She came from a middle-class family; her father edited the National Coal Board magazine. Her sister, Sally Geeson, also an actress, is known for her roles in British television sitcoms of the 1970s. Geeson attended Corona Stage Academy, making her stage debut in 1957.
Taxi Driver is a 1976 American vigilante film with neo-noir and psychological thriller elements, directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader. Set in New York City following the Vietnam War, the film stars Robert De Niro, and features Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Cybill Shepherd, Peter Boyle, and Albert Brooks.
The film is regularly cited by critics, film directors, and audiences alike as one of the greatest films of all time. Nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, it won the Palme d'Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. The American Film Institute ranked Taxi Driver as the 52nd-greatest American film on its AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) list. In 2012, Sight & Sound named it the 31st-best film ever in its decennial critics' poll, ranked with The Godfather Part II, and the fifth-greatest film of all time on its directors' poll. The film was considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant by the US Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1994.
Only posted these few videos a short while ago. How little did I know how poignant they would become. This track was featured briefly in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), but never appeared on the original release LP. It occurred in the Piz Gloria scenes where Bond is masquerading as Sir Hilary Bray, and making himself available to the girls, particularly Ruby Bartlett, played by Angela Scoular. The other girls in this clip are Catherine Von Schell, Julie Ege, and Jenny Hanley.
