In music, an octave (
Play (help·info)) or perfect octave is the interval between one musical pitch and another with half or double its frequency. The octave relationship is a natural phenomenon that has been referred to as the "basic miracle of music", the use of which is "common in most musical systems". It may be derived from the harmonic series as the interval between the first and second harmonics.
The octave has occasionally been referred to as a diapason.
To emphasize that it is one of the perfect intervals (including unison, perfect fourth, and perfect fifth), the octave is designated P8. The octave above or below an indicated note is sometimes abbreviated 8va (= Italian all'ottava), or 8va bassa (= Italian all'ottava bassa, sometimes also 8vb), respectively.
For example, if one note has a frequency of 440 Hz, the note an octave above it is at 880 Hz, and the note an octave below is at 220 Hz. The ratio of frequencies of two notes an octave apart is therefore 2:1. Further octaves of a note occur at 2n times the frequency of that note (where n is an integer), such as 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. and the reciprocal of that series. For example, 55 Hz and 440 Hz are one and two octaves away from 110 Hz because they are ½ (or 2 −1) and 4 (or 22) times the frequency, respectively.

Joel Hoekstra is an American guitarist currently in the band Night Ranger . The son of classical musicians, he started out playing cello and piano at a young age, but it was hearing Angus Young that inspired him to start guitar . He was raised in Chicago he has lived in New York City for over 10 years. When not touring with Night Ranger, he performs as a guitarist in the Broadway musical, Rock of Ages. He also made a cameo appearance alongside Sebastain Bach, Nuno Bettencourt, Kevin Cronin and Debbie Gibson in the the big screen movie adaptation. Hoekstra also plays with Trans-Siberian Orchestra on their Winter tours. Joel has played on stage and in studio with Foreigner (band), Dee Snider, Jeff Scott Soto, Jim Peterik, The Turtles, Big Brother & the Holding Company and many more.

Boys Noize is the stage name of Alexander Ridha, a German electronic music producer and DJ. It is similar to the name of Ridha's label, Boysnoize Records, which he established in 2005. Ridha has remixed a number of other artists work, including Snoop Dogg and Depeche Mode.
Ridha (born in 1982, Hamburg) started producing and DJing at early age, period in which he supported Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell. Today, Ridha himself is known as one of the most valuable electronic artists, awarded with the Independent Music Award in 2010 as well as 3 years in a row Best Electronic Artist on Beatport. His music is known to merge various styles and having a unique and innovative sound, with influences of hip-hop and disco roots as well as heavy noise and electro sounds. His DJ sets are equally praised and have gained worldwide recognition for the mixing and visuals.
Ridha released his early work on labels such as International Deejay Gigolos Records, Kitsuné Music and Turbo Recordings. In order to retain full artistic freedom however, he established his imprint Boysnoize Records in 2005. Both of his LPs "OI OI OI" and its successor "POWER" were recorded under this label, as well as the singles "Don't Believe The Hype", "&Down" and "Jeffer" as well as "Transmition"

I think the main package is "octave-3.6.2-vs2010-setup.exe", and everything else is extra packages for some more advanced stuff. Octave and FreeMat are open-source alternatives to Matlab used for numerical computations.
Note on using Octave in Windows:
I tried using Octave in Windows through Cygwin, and it really did not work very well. However, I think it might have been better if I had installed the versions of Octave that were compiled with MS Visual Studio.

Also, here's the Sourceforge download page. I think the main package is "octave-3.6.2-vs2010-setup.exe", and everything else is extra packages for some more advanced stuff. (But there's also a symbolic package which might by handy.)
