Meissner AC/DC regenerative radio receiver Allied radio cat. 1939 - 1949
All original radio receiver. Uses three type 76 triodes.
Regenerative detector, audio amplifier, power supply rectifier. 340 ohm resistor line cord drops
120 volt AC line voltage to 18.9 volts at 0.3 amps for the tube filaments.
Cord gets slightly warm, but certainly not hot.
There is nothing technically wrong with this approach, and I certainly won't listen to the negative hype on forums about this. Chassis is connected to one side of AC line through a
0.05 mfd capacitor. I have spent many hours listening to this receiver. The coil supplied is the
545 -
200 meter coil, covering 550 - 1500 kc. From
Toronto, I can clearly hear
WTIC 1080 Hartford at night and
WHAM 1180
Rochester during the day, which are benchmarks even for superheterodyne receivers. I plan to build coils for the am
