E.B recently retired, so here are his top 10 career slams. Apologies for the quality on some clips, it was hard enough finding footage of Elton Brand's best dunks so try to avoid fullscreen. Not many people seem to remember or realize how good Brand was before his major injury. Think of a more productive Zach Randolph. 20 & 10 a night on 50%FG, the best two way PF in the league not named Duncan or Garnett.

After two successful seasons with the Bulls, during which he received the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2000, Brand was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2001 for Brian Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson Chandler. In Los Angeles, Brand became the first Clipper since Danny Manning (in 1994) to be selected to the All-Star team. As much as Brand shone through his first years in Los Angeles, however, the Clippers still remained among the worst franchises in the NBA and all of American sports.When Brand became a restricted free agent in 2003, the Miami Heat dangled an offer worth $82 million over six years. In what was an unprecedented move by team owner Donald Sterling, the Clippers matched Miami's offer and managed to keep Brand a Clipper. Prior to this, the biggest contract Sterling had approved to that point was a five-year, $15 million deal for Eric Piatkowski in 1998.In the 2006 NBA season, Brand experienced a personal renaissance. He posted career-highs in points per game (24.7) and field-goal percentage (52.7), while leading the Clippers to a 47-35 record, good enough for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. In February 2006, Brand was selected to the 2006 NBA All-Star Game as a reserve forward for the West. As a result of his individual prowess and the Clippers' recent success, many analysts believed that he was a strong candidate for Most Valuable Player for the 2006 season. Steve Nash went on to win the award. On April 22, 2006, Brand made his playoff debut scoring 21 points against the Denver Nuggets. On May 1, Brand helped lead the team to its first playoff series win since 1976, when the team was known as the Buffalo Braves. Although the Clippers eventually lost in game 7 against the Phoenix Suns, the Clippers had the best season that their franchise had ever seen. Brand received the Joe Dumars Trophy after being named the 2005-06 NBA Sportsmanship Award winner.Despite an amazing 05-06 season, Brand regressed a little bit in the following 06-07 season. His point average went down and his team missed the playoffs.

Will people 20 years from now remember Elton Brand at all? People already have forgotten how good of a player he was with the Clippers. He's Blake Griffin without all the flashy dunks (so nothing lol jk). Not exciting at all. Workmanlike. The kind of player who's only legacy will be as a trivia answer for who won ROY in 1999.
Time has taken its toll on poor Elton. He's nowhere near the dominant interior presence he used to be. He was on the Mavs last year but I can't remember ever seeing him play. He barely gets minutes on the I-thought-they-were-tanking-but-are-actually-somewhat-good Hawks. Injuries to Horford and Antic have opened the window a little bit, which is good for fans of mid-oughts basketball!
By the way, don't look at the turn-of-the-millennium All-Star rosters. Looking at it for when Brand first made it in 2001 is making me sad. Antoine Walker :(

Elton Tyron Brand (born March 11, 1979 in Cortlandt Manor, New York[citation needed]) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was the 1st overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, selected by the Chicago Bulls.
At the age of thirteen, Brand enrolled in Peekskill High School, where he was immediately added to the varsity basketball roster. He averaged 40 points and 20 rebounds per game, played AAU basketball with future NBA players Lamar Odom and Ron Artest, and by his senior year he was consistently ranked among the top high school basketball players in the country and was selected as New York State Mr. Basketball. At the same time, he became something of a cult hero in Peekskill, helping his team win two state championships while demonstrating a humble calm and an articulate intelligence. The former Governor of New York, fellow Peekskill native George Pataki, was once asked about being the town's favorite son, and he answered that Peekskill's favorite son was not the Governor but Elton Brand. Recruited heavily after his successful high school career, Brand decided to enroll at Duke University alongside a cluster of other high school stars, including Shane Battier.

Will people 20 years from now remember Elton Brand at all? People already have forgotten how good of a player he was with the Clippers. He's Blake Griffin without all the flashy dunks (so nothing lol jk). Not exciting at all. Workmanlike. The kind of player who's only legacy will be as a trivia answer for who won ROY in 1999. Time has taken its toll on poor Elton. He's nowhere near the dominant interior presence he used to be. He was on the Mavs last year but I can't remember ever seeing him play. SMALL BIO -
After two successful seasons with the Bulls, during which he received the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2000, Brand was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2001 for Brian Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson Chandler. In Los Angeles, Brand became the first Clipper since Danny Manning (in 1994) to be selected to the All-Star team. As much as Brand shone through his first years in Los Angeles, however, the Clippers still remained among the worst franchises in the NBA and all of American sports.When Brand became a restricted free agent in 2003, the Miami Heat dangled an offer worth $82 million over six years. In what was an unprecedented move by team owner Donald Sterling, the Clippers matched Miami's offer and managed to keep Brand a Clipper. Prior to this, the biggest contract Sterling had approved to that point was a five-year, $15 million deal for Eric Piatkowski in 1998.In the 2006 NBA season, Brand experienced a personal renaissance. He posted career-highs in points per game (24.7) and field-goal percentage (52.7), while leading the Clippers to a 47-35 record, good enough for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. In February 2006, Brand was selected to the 2006 NBA All-Star Game as a reserve forward for the West. As a result of his individual prowess and the Clippers' recent success, many analysts believed that he was a strong candidate for Most Valuable Player for the 2006 season. Steve Nash went on to win the award. On April 22, 2006, Brand made his playoff debut scoring 21 points against the Denver Nuggets. On May 1, Brand helped lead the team to its first playoff series win since 1976, when the team was known as the Buffalo Braves. Although the Clippers eventually lost in game 7 against the Phoenix Suns, the Clippers had the best season that their franchise had ever seen. Brand received the Joe Dumars Trophy after being named the 2005-06 NBA Sportsmanship Award winner.Despite an amazing 05-06 season, Brand regressed a little bit in the following 06-07 season. His point average went down and his team missed the playoffs.

SMALL BIO -
After two successful seasons with the Bulls, during which he received the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2000, Brand was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2001 for Brian Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson Chandler. In Los Angeles, Brand became the first Clipper since Danny Manning (in 1994) to be selected to the All-Star team. As much as Brand shone through his first years in Los Angeles, however, the Clippers still remained among the worst franchises in the NBA and all of American sports.When Brand became a restricted free agent in 2003, the Miami Heat dangled an offer worth $82 million over six years. In what was an unprecedented move by team owner Donald Sterling, the Clippers matched Miami's offer and managed to keep Brand a Clipper. Prior to this, the biggest contract Sterling had approved to that point was a five-year, $15 million deal for Eric Piatkowski in 1998.In the 2006 NBA season, Brand experienced a personal renaissance. He posted career-highs in points per game (24.7) and field-goal percentage (52.7), while leading the Clippers to a 47-35 record, good enough for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. In February 2006, Brand was selected to the 2006 NBA All-Star Game as a reserve forward for the West. As a result of his individual prowess and the Clippers' recent success, many analysts believed that he was a strong candidate for Most Valuable Player for the 2006 season. Steve Nash went on to win the award. On April 22, 2006, Brand made his playoff debut scoring 21 points against the Denver Nuggets. On May 1, Brand helped lead the team to its first playoff series win since 1976, when the team was known as the Buffalo Braves. Although the Clippers eventually lost in game 7 against the Phoenix Suns, the Clippers had the best season that their franchise had ever seen. Brand received the Joe Dumars Trophy after being named the 2005-06 NBA Sportsmanship Award winner.Despite an amazing 05-06 season, Brand regressed a little bit in the following 06-07 season. His point average went down and his team missed the playoffs.

Will people 20 years from now remember Elton Brand at all? People already have forgotten how good of a player he was with the Clippers. He's Blake Griffin without all the flashy dunks (so nothing lol jk). Not exciting at all. Workmanlike. The kind of player who's only legacy will be as a trivia answer for who won ROY in 1999.
Time has taken its toll on poor Elton. He's nowhere near the dominant interior presence he used to be. He was on the Mavs last year but I can't remember ever seeing him play. He barely gets minutes on the I-thought-they-were-tanking-but-are-actually-somewhat-good Hawks. Injuries to Horford and Antic have opened the window a little bit, which is good for fans of mid-oughts basketball!
By the way, don't look at the turn-of-the-millennium All-Star rosters. Looking at it for when Brand first made it in 2001 is making me sad. Antoine Walker :(

the 2003 roster had very good shooters in Ray Allen, Vince Carter, and Mike Bibby. they USA roster also had tremendous ability to break down the zone defense by dribble penetration by Vince Carter, Tmac, and to a lesser extent RJ and Martin.
you also had the unwavering floor general who at the time back in 03 was the consensus #1 PG in the NBA Jason Kidd.
At the time, ELton Brand and Nick Collison were not all stars, but Elton Brand was already playing at a high level and Collison gives you hustle, boards, and blocks.

Elton Brand has been claimed off amnesty waivers by the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced Friday. The Mavs won the rights to Brand with a winning bid of $2.1 million, according to sources close to the process. The league's 30 teams were notified shortly after 5 p.m. ET Friday that the Mavericks had lodged the winning waiver bid for Brand, who was released Wednesday by the Philadelphia 76ers through the amnesty clause in the NBA's new labor agreement. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the Medina attack or two other attacks in the kingdom on the same day — one near the U.S. Consulate in Jiddah and the other at a Shiite mosque in the east of the country. The bomber has been identified as 34-year-old Abdullah Qalzar Khan, an Interior Ministry statement said.
