Blues Brothers 2000 is a 1998 American musical comedy film that is a sequel to the 1980 film The Blues Brothers. Directed by John Landis, the film featured Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman, with cameos by many musicians.
Blues Brothers 2000 picks up 18 years after The Blues Brothers with Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) being released from prison, this time a rather high-tech private prison rather than the old Illinois state prison depicted in the first film. He learns that his brother Jake has died, along with their surrogate father figure Curtis (Cab Calloway), and that the orphanage the two had saved is no more.
However, Elwood is told of a second brother (of sorts). The "brother" is the illegitimate son of Curtis named Cabel "Cab" Chamberlain (Joe Morton) who, until Elwood enters his life, had no knowledge of being Curtis's son. Cab is a commander in the Illinois State Police. He angrily refuses to support Elwood, a habitual criminal, but Elwood steals his wallet and buys a used police squad car at a lot owned by Malvern Gasperone (B.B. King), who is leaving the business to move to New Orleans.

Da Big N leider wegen der Angst der Raubkopierer weiter auf Module setzte (was übrigens auch nichts brachte, da es recht schnell „Leermodule“ gab… hust, hust, hust…), machte die Konkurrenz im durch CD-basierte Systeme in Form von Sega (mit dem Saturn) und Sony (natürlich mit der Playstation) diesem Moduldinosaurier richtig Druck. Auch der eigenwillige Controller des N64s, der sowohl analoge als auch digitale Steuerelemente bot, wurde mit sehr gemischten Gefühlen aufgenommen.
Trotzdem wurden vom N64 an die 33 Millionen Geräte verkauft und mit den fast 400 Spielen (bei uns knapp 250) konnten nahezu alle Spieler perfekt zufriedengestellt werden. Selbst heute erinnern sich viele noch gerne an ihre ersten Gehversuche im wegweisenden Super Mario 64, die Raumschlachten in Star Fox / Lylat Wars oder die packende Geschichte im großartigen Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, was heute immer noch den Top-Listen der besten Spiele aller Zeiten zu Recht auftaucht.
Deswegen wird es Zeit, dass wir das 20jährige Jubiläum dieser Kiste ausgiebig feiern und mal in ein paar der Games hineingucken. Denn in der Nachbetrachtung wirkt die Zeit des N64 so, als wäre dies die letzte große Zeit eines der wichtigen Konsolenherstellers der Welt gewesen. Aber entscheidet einfach mal selbst.
