Delhi-6 is a 2009 Hindi language Indian drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and starring Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Waheeda Rahman, Rishi Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Deepak Dobriyal and Divya Dutta. The story is reportedly based on Mehra's growing up years in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi. The acclaimed score and soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman. It released on 20 February 2009 and won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at 57th National Film Awards.
Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) accompanies his dying grandmother Annapurna (Waheeda Rahman) to their ancestral property in crowded Delhi. Roshan is initially stunned by the mad rush of neighbours: Ali Baig (Rishi Kapoor) the renaissance man, feuding brothers Madangopal (Om Puri) and Jaigopal (Pavan Malhotra), their wives and families, Mamdu (Deepak Dobriyal) the halwai, Gobar (Atul Kulkarni) the simpleton, Sethji and many others. Roshan eventually warms to the place and wholeheartedly embraces the sense of community. He accompanies his grandmother to the Ramleelas, hangs out at Mamdu's sweet stall, plays with the children, and gradually becomes steeped in the culture.

Delhi (/ˈdɛli/, Hindustani pronunciation: [d̪ɪlliː] Dilli), officially the National Capital Territory of Delhi, is the capital territory of India. Delhi is historically and culturally connected to both the Upper Doab of the Yamuna-Ganges river system and the Punjab region. It is bordered by Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east. It is the largest city in India in terms of geographical area - about 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). It has a population of about 16.3 million, making it the second most populous city and second most populous urban agglomeration in India and 3rd largest urban area in the world. Such is the nature of urban expansion in Delhi that its growth has expanded beyond the NCT to incorporate towns in neighbouring states and at its largest extent can count a population of about 25 million residents as of 2014.
Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the metropolitan region.
Abhishek Bachchan (born 5 February 1976) is an Indian film actor, producer and playback singer best known for his work in Hindi films. He is the son of veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. He made his film debut in the war drama Refugee (2000), which did not do very well at the box office, but earned him appreciation from critics. For the next few years, Bachchan starred in a series of unsuccessful films that failed to propel his career forward. Bachchan then established himself as a leading actor of Hindi cinema with the blockbuster action thriller Dhoom (2004).
Since then, he has starred in several successful films, including Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Dhoom 2 (2006), Guru (2007), Dostana (2008) and Bol Bachchan (2012). He has also featured in Dhoom 3 (2013) and Happy New Year (2014), which both rank among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. In addition to three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actor for his critically acclaimed performances in Yuva (2004), Sarkar (2005), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Bachchan has garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for producing the family dramedy Paa (2009). Since 2007, Bachchan has been married to actress Aishwarya Rai and they have one daughter born in 2011.
Sonam Kapoor (pronounced [soːnəm kəˈpuːr]; born 9 June 1985) is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. Kapoor is one of highest-paid actresses in the industry, and is ranked as one of the most fashionable celebrities in India. She has been nominated for four Filmfare Awards.
The daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, Kapoor studied theatre and arts at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore. She became an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black (2005). Kapoor made her acting debut in 2007 in Bhansali's romantic drama, Saawariya, which earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She subsequently appeared in the drama Delhi-6 (2009), and had her first commercial success in the 2010 romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys.
After a series of commercial failures, the financially successful Raanjhanaa (2013) marked a turning point in her career, earning her several Best Actress nominations. She then featured in the 2014 romantic comedy Khoobsurat and the 2015 comedy drama Dolly Ki Doli, for which she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. In 2015, Kapoor played a princess in the melodrama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time.
